  1. This is what I am thinking, I think that over time I would find more and more uses for it. I have a big barn that has to be finished; but should be a good storage location. I need to get the run up’s into and out of the barn done so that I can park it in there. Thanks for the suggestion, I do think that a little more is better than too little, plus it doesn’t add a whole lot more cost; the first big chunk is the expensive part.
  2. Thanks for all of the advice, it is appreciated. I am looking for an older Kubota right now, but I'm not throwing anything out the window at this time as I want to make sure I get what I need. Thanks everyone!
  3. I had every intention of going to check out the protest in Franklin yesterday, but I got stuck working on the house all day and Just didn’t get out that way. I really wanted to go see the big nothing burger, I would suspect it was less than a dozen people. I was reading that there is a much bigger group that is trying to protest nationwide next weekend, at EVERY Tesla dealership. I’m sure that in CA there were be some major carnage but I don’t know if there will be here in TN, I hope not. I agree with Trump that this is straight up terrorism.
  4. We are not allowed to use it at my work, mostly because we do government work and some of it is secret / top secret and they don’t want us putting anything into any system where it could be a violation of our security clearances. That being said, I find it very useful for my daily life when writing letters and even posts. it does a decent job making things more engaging, or entertaining. When I write code for myself, I find it super useful. As someone else mentioned, writing excel formulas is great; or C++ code to position objects in 3D space at the end of a vector, or a JAVA script to record audio in Unix and process it to see if it matches a given audio sample. It just works phenomenally well for these things.
  5. Not sure if you have heard about this, but there is a group going to “Protest” at Tesla Dealerships in TN, Bartlett, Franklin, Chattanooga, and Knoxville. I hope that the police will be there to make sure that they don’t get violent. I happen to have to be in Franklin tomorrow, so I may swing by to see what is going on, if anything. As long as they are protesting, that will be fine. But if they start to get violent I hope they are rounded up and arrested immedately. https://www.actionnews5.com/2025/03/21/tesla-takedown-demonstrations-taking-place-across-tenn-over-weekend-heres-what-you-need-know/
  6. Lots of good information on these posts, yes, learn, practice, learn some more. And if you need too, go with some good index funds. Right now I have about ½ in an index fund, and the rest in various individual stocks across multiple industries. I think that the hardest part for a lot of people is to realize that you will loose some at times, you will win sometimes. You have to be patient and realize that as long as the companies are stable and growing, you should be good. One of the ones I have been looking into, and this is a bigger risk because it's relatively new but I like it, and that's Rumble (RUM). Not a lot of money in it, but I did pick up some shares of it.
  7. Maybe it's time I get that M&P Shield I've been thinking about....
  8. Anyone else playing the stock market? With things getting so depressed, might be a good time to pick up some stocks. Anyone have any tips and suggestions? Here is some of what I'm looking at. Costco - Down over 10%, has been a strong performer so might be a nice buy and hold for long term. Tesla - Yeah, they have been badly beaten up, down a LOT. But Doge is a 2 year term for Elon, after that he'll probably fall out of the lime light and the company may rebound. Rumble - Internet streaming service, pretty new, but starting to take off a little bit at a time, can get in cheap now and hold for long term success. A lot of people moving too it because Youtube has been beating content developers. Apple - They've taken a beating in the last few months, but they have announced their new iOS will be a complete redesign, the biggest in many years. So maybe that will spring them back when it comes out in September/October. Anyone else have any thoughts. NOTE : I'm not a professional, I don't advocate for anyone to buy anything, these are just my personal thoughts and opinions. Investing takes risk, invest wisely and please, do not take my advice, I've lost more than I've made.
  9. I have thought about the Chinese mini-excavator, but something about it makes me feel like it wouldn’t be good enough. But I don’t really know. I guess i should go to a store and see what they have to say about them. I agree with the harbor freight stand alone, moving it around would be a pain in the butt. That’s why I’m thinking Tractor with attachment, gives me the best of both worlds.
  10. I’ve been shopping around for a backhoe, something that I can use for digging and moving material around. I guess a tractor with a backhoe attachment would make the most sense. Unfortunately price tag wise, $25k is a bit steep for someone who just wants to use it from time to time. Was thinking of getting used, but anything that is $10k seems to always have a ton of problems. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
  11. Of course, you need to make sure you know what is within your capabilities. And every situation is different, so yeah, just making general fundamental comment. Overall I’d do it myself, but if warranted and I didn’t think I could do it, I’d 100% have to pay someone to do it.
  12. Personally for these prices, I'd buy myself a good chainsaw, a stump grinder, and a wood chipper and do it all myself. Right now I have an OK chainsaw, and a cheap wood chipper and probably would do it myself with just that. But for $4800, I could upgrade all of my equipment, do it myself, and still have the equipment at the end. Yeah, it would take longer, but not that much longer. I have an ECHO CM420, purchased at Home Depot, but I really want the STIHL 500i.
  13. I feel that these speed cameras are illegal, you have the right to face your accuser. Fight it in court and you have no one to talk to unless they specifically have someone go over the video for each and every ticket they mail out. Personally I think that it is the duty of the citizens to not put up with this crap; and remove them where possible. As for the OP who got a speeding ticket in a school zone on a Saturday, I would fight that in court. Time does matter, the reason for the school zones (and they are often posted as such) is to protect kids, if the kids aren't there, they shouldn't be reduced speeds.
  14. So far I have found that the sales on here have been great; people are very willing to work with you and you'll get the best price generally. I wouldn't be going to other sites, because that could bring out some nebulous people; but I would say that most buyers here aren't that type. Most are willing to show ID and meet you someplace of your choosing. I'd recommend selling here. Being in Nashville area, there are quite a few of us from the area who are OK with this process.
