Gallatin Gun Club Guns & Leather

I traded off my Sig p239 for a XD-45 Fri night. I never really liked the sig, so I went to a gun shop to see what they had and I was thinking about a G22, ( I have 19,23,34) and then I started looking at the XD's and he let me shoot a rental XD-45 and I really liked it. I have not had a chance to shoot the one I bought.

H. R. 1022 - 2007 Assault Ban Renewal
ZZRguy replied to wareagle's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I guess the dems did not learn their lesson in 94 when they past the last one, most got voted out of office. I heard one guy put it best when he said limiting every new gun to ten rounds to stop gun crime was like trying to stop drunk driving by limiting everybody to ten gallons of gas. -
Thanks David, that is a heck of a deal and I am going to take you up on that. My wife is going to get her permit asap and we live in Gallatin. I took the permit class in 2000 at Asherbranner's, did you give the class back then? How do we need to sign up? Thank You, Charles.

It looks like a Iver Johnson, maybe you could play around on gunbroker and see if you can find one that looks like it.

I bought a Para companion with night sights and bobbed hammer off of gunbroker a while back and I think I got a good deal on it I paid $500 shipped and I think I paid $25 to transfer it. I also bought a rifle rest and had good luck with that, on both items I sent them a money order. The only bad thing about gunbroker is that the people selling guns on there want at least retail or more for their guns and when you pay to have it shipped and transferred then you have paid more than it is worth. You can do a state search and find something local that might be a good deal.

Sorry, I checked to see if they honored a non-resident permit, but no luck there. A few years ago Alabama did not honor Tn. permit but they honored New Hampshire non-resident permit, so I got a New Hampshire non-resident permit to legally carry in Al.

At the Gun show all guns have to unloaded and they do check at the door for loaded guns and loaded mags. Bob Pope gun show will put a tie strap in your gun to show it has been checked but the Bill Goodman does not. About 3 or 4 years ago at the Bob Pope gun show someone had a AD, somebody was selling a glock and handed to the prospective buyer and told him it was unloaded and he pulled the trigger and BOOM, luckily nobody got hurt.

One more for American Handgunner and also I like Combat Handguns and whatever other gun magazine that has an article that I find interesting.

Thanks for the reply, but it is not against the law if you have a valid permit for the state you are in. I have asked several State Troopers and DOT officers ( before they merged ), and I also talked to Gene Kennedy who wrote a book called Legally Armed in Tennessee and they all say the same thing. A month or so ago a driver at our Birmingham plant shot two of his fingers off while "cleaning" his gun in the truck at a customers warehouse, and the police dept. in Al. said that is not against the law as long as you have a permit. We almost lost one of our biggest customers in Al. so they have put the fear of God about firearms on property and in trucks. Thanks Again, Charles

I have always had a positive response from police officers when I tell them I have a carry permit. Last year I was in my big truck going east on 50 outside of Columbia.Tn and a young guy going west lost control of his mustang went across my lane, spun around 3 or 4 times on the shoulder and came back into my lane and we hit left front fender to left front fender, thank the Lord we were almost stopped when we hit. Since I was driving a commercial vehicle the State Trooper had to inspect my paperwork and I told the State Trooper I had a carry permit, but I was not carrying (company rules), and he said that he is not worried about people that has a carry permit, it is the people without them and carrying that gets his attention.

They still do the background check.

Hi James, I am not trying to hijack this thread but, have you seen the new S&W M&P in action and if so what is your opinion? Thanks in advance, Charles

I have been reading your post on this subject, I would like to make a suggestion and that is if you have a friend that has the guns that you are interested in maybe he will let you shoot them if you buy the ammo, or if there is a gun range in your area that rents handguns, talk to the owner and tell him you want to buy a handgun, but you would like try a few and see if he will rent you 3 or 4 at one price to try and see which one you and your wife like the best. This cost a little bit more but you will save money in the long run, because if you pay full retail for a new handgun and decide you do not like it, you will take a beating on a trade. I say this from experience and I am trying to help. Also check the price of ammo because the price of ammo is going up. Just my $.02 worth, and good luck on whatever you decide to buy.

If you do not mine buying a used gun keep an eye out on glocktalk, ar15.com, sigforum.com, craigslist.org and gunbroker.com for people selling guns like you want in your area.
