I am going to buy a S&W M&P15, I was looking at the M&P15OR (optics ready). I wanted to mount a eotech 512 red dot on the gun, and I was going to mount a front and rear flip-up sights as a back-up, just in case the red dot goes out. I looked at some AR's with a fixed front sight through a eotech and I keep wanting to line up the dot with the front sight post, and I think I would be better off flip-up front sight and keep it down unless I need it as a back-up. I have not shot a AR with a eotech on it and do not know which will sight will work best. What sights do you use on your Ar's, fixed or flip-up? I am going to use this gun for plinking and the occasional match. Thanks, Charles

Have you ever heard of the Black Talon? I read Combat Handguns and Massad Ayoob has a article called Self Defense & The Law and he has discussed this topic several times, most recently being in the Feb. 2008 issue, there has been some prosecutors that has tried to convict law abiding citizens in justifiable shootings because the citizens used a hollow point bullet in self defense. The prosecution said that the citizens used the hollow point bullet to create more injury to the criminal. I do not think anybody has been convicted, but had to go through the expense of a trial. I read this in Ayoob's articles and thought I would relay this to you, I never would have thought bullets used in self defense would be an issue but it can be for anti-gun people in power.

Welcome You might be able to buy long guns here, but not handguns. I have bought long guns in Kentucky and in Alabama with a Tn DL.

Bob Pope Gun Show - Franklin, TN Feb 15-17
ZZRguy replied to TNRobocop's topic in Events and Gatherings
I am planning on going down there Sat. I have not been to his show since it was moved to Franklin. Is the show better than what it used to be when it was at the old Wal-Mart in Smyrna? When it was at the expo it was a very good show. -
The very first General Lee was the General Lee that jumped over Roscoe's car in the opening credits, and it appears again in episode 4, Repo Men. The studio told the crew at the last minute they needed a wrecked 69 charger so they painted the first General green for the show. Travis Bell found the the very first General in a junk yard in Georgia in 2000 ( the owner of the junk yard could not sell the the cars for sprap b/c of all the concrete in the trunk ) and he went back and bought it a year later in 2001 . He showed the car at different car shows, but eventually he sold it on eBay, and the new owner wanted it restored which believe it or not it was fixed after that bad crash. I hope this helps. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=119349 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_General_Lee

HUGE Gun Sale: 19 January 2008 over 400 guns marked down!
ZZRguy replied to BimmerFreak's topic in Events and Gatherings
Thanks Joe, I went there Thursday and find a cheap .22 that had broken and a $25 price tag on it. I took it to the range today an the gun is very accurate. It is marked Ranger 101.11A which is a Sears trade name, but I believe it is a Savage 6a. It would fire and eject the spent case but when you pulled the trigger nothing happened and I would then manually eject the live round and it would fire the next round. You can lock the bolt on this rifle and fire it and manually rack the bolt and eject the case and feed the next round, but everytime you fire it in semi-auto it would not fire the next round. I posted a thread over at rimfirecentral, and I am sure they can tell me what it needs, but if not the gun will work as is and all I have in $37 so I am not hurt at all. I needed another .22 like another hole in my head but I could not pass up a good deal. Thanks again, Great gun store. -
I do a lot business with G&L and most the time I have had good experiences there, but I have learned who to talk to. When G&L was in the strip mall I bought a used Taurus 940 40S$W and gave 275 + tax and bg check ( over 300 otd ). I seen another gun there about 6 months later and all Mark wanted to give me for it was a $140, that made me mad I did not go back for a year and a half, and a couple of years ago I talked to Dennis about trading a couple guns and we worked out a deal, and Dennis had Mark do the paperwork and Mark just complained about how much Dennis gave me for my guns, so learned not to deal with Mark. Mark is a great guy to talk to and cut up with but I do not buy or trade with him. Ben is O.K to deal with but if a gun has not been logged in he will tell you to come back later ( I live 35 miles from there ) but if you find Dennis he give you price on it. Like I said it all who you talk to, I try to deal with Dennis if possible.

Presidential Candidates' Opinions on Firearms
ZZRguy replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I am more scared of Obama than I am of Hillary but I will not vote for either one. I agree with you on the election I thought Fred would be the one I could vote for instead of voting for the lesser of two evils. -
He is not there yet I am going to buy a gun there as soon as the gunsmith repairs it. I have been waiting over two weeks for him to look at it. Called Dennis today and he has not heard from him, he said he would see him tonight for sure. Maybe I will get it next week.

I bought my stepson a model 45 Mossberg for Christmas in 06, and he loves it. I wished I had researched it more, it did not have a sight hood on it or a receiver peep sight on it. It does have the barrel sight on it. I went to buy a Mossberg 144 at Guns and Leather last fri. but when I was shooting it the safety vibrated on and I had to push up on the mag sometimes to make it feed right. I told Dennis and he was going to have his gunsmith check it out. I wanted the gun but Dennis did not want to sell it until he had it checked out. I put some money down on the gun so it would not get sold, I am in waiting mode now. I have a Revelation single shot .22 that is a Mossberg 320 that is a tack driver.
