  1. Probably some fully-auto guns in the SUV the secret service didn't want the local gangbangers to get. As for Secret Service being held to the same standard we mere 'citizens' would be in the same circumstances? Never gonna happen. But I think that's the whole point the author is trying to make - we are restraining citizens from being able to defend property but giving a free pass to Federal agents. What's good for the goose...is good for the gander, no? Elites get privilege, average Joe gets prison.
  2. I think Wayne LaPierre needs to go so the NRA can repair the damage done with members. No one likes to contribute hard earned dollars toward a cause only to find out the Executive leader is spending the money in frivolous and wasteful ways that don't advance the cause. Having said that, I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over an article printed in ROLLING STONE in partnership with "The Trace" (a nonprofit 'newsroom' covering gun violence...their words, not mine.) Why let the left divide us when their only goal is to weaken the strongest gun advocacy group in the world so the progressive-liberals can push thru their agenda with less organized & powerful opposition? * Join GUN OWNERS OF AMERICA (GOA) * Join SECOND AMENDMENT FOUNDATION (SAF) * Contribute money to the NRA ILA (Institute for Legislative Action) * Keep voting for the pro-gun candidates But don't let these guys & gals (Rolling Stone & The Trace) convince you to stop supporting the NRA. Just keep telling the NRA Wayne has to go when they ask for money. At some point, maybe(!), the board of directors will do the right thing.
  3. I read all that but I'm still unclear on the right of self defense being "statutory". I looked up that word and got this: "Enacted, regulated, or authorized by statute." Does that mean the state can legislate if you are allowed to defend yourself or not? Let's just say the state says, "No, you can't legally defend yourself." How do they reconcile that position with the statement in the U.S. Declaration of Independence that says we have the right to, "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". These are the unalienable rights which the Declaration says have been given to all humans by their Creator, and which governments are created to protect. I'm confused. I have the right to life. If I have to defend myself to preserve my life, I cannot be guilty of a crime. I'm merely assuring the rights my Creator bestowed upon me remain intact...right? Please bring some clarity to this if you can. Thanks.
  4. Do the survey and mark "strongly disagree" to all questions. The wording is confusing (by design) and the underlying objective seems to be figuring out where the weak spot is on the pro gun side so they can chisel away at that (whatever it turns out to be). Red flag laws seem 'reasonable' to everyone? Let's start there. I appreciate the sincerity the OP is bringing as he seems like a genuine pro 2A advocate, but after reading the survey questions, I don't see that there is any clarity in how they are written to where a person can feel good about answering any of them with confidence that your answer will represent how you truly feel. As @BigK put it "Those questions were architected to be used in any way the person who collects them sees fit." Now that I've seen the questions, I believe that is absolutely correct. I don't see value in doing this survey. Sorry OP. I do see value in contacting your representatives & letting them know how you REALLY feel & I see value in showing up & voting for the PRO GUN candidate at election time. @Worriedman and the NRA & GOA can tell you who those people are. Vote. That is your secret power. Do it. Use it. Sitting it out allows evil to win.
  5. Great suggestions so far! Another consideration based on your "too light of a trigger" concern would be to get a used Sig Sauer in 9mm with the DAK trigger. Safe to carry, easy to shoot, & old school Sig quality. Just search "Sig, 9mm, DAK" on Gunbroker.com & see what comes up that appeals to you. P226? P229? P224?
  6. Maybe @Chucktshoes can help answer this. Standby...
  7. I have a CX4 in 9mm that uses the Beretta 92 mags and I like it a lot. Very well built. Accurate. Reliable. You can switch the charging handle and mag release to work for righty or lefty, which has been very handy. I haven't felt the need to accessorize it in any way. I was going to put a red dot sight on it, but the standard peep sight works so well, I just haven't felt the urgency to put an optic on. My wife and my son enjoy shooting it, too. It is the home defense/ranch varmint rifle at the moment since it is so handy & easy to operate. I'd like to get a second one now that prices have come down. For a while there back in 2018/2019, these guns were scarce & prices were pushing into the $900 range. To get one for $600 seems like a "must buy" deal. You won't be disappointed & it's an easy sell if you tire of it and decide to move on.
  8. None of the choices you listed would have been wrong & it sounds like you weighed the input and picked the rifle that was most right for you, which is what matters. The Ruger American Rifles have a reputation for accuracy & the aftermarket parts availability just keeps growing for these guns, so that's a plus. Curious to hear how you feel about once you get hands on and have a chance to use it.
  9. The blade sharpens about as easily as my Gerbers & Buck knives as long as I don't let it get too far dull. It seems to hold that sharpness longer, which is a plus.
  10. I have a Microtech Ultratech OTF knife I really like. It seemed really expensive to me when I was thinking of buying it but I bit the bullet & took a chance. I'm happy! Now that I've owned it for three years & used it a ton, it was worth the money. No problems at all with it & I'm using it for heavier tasks than it was really meant to do & it doesn't seem to suffer. Reliable. Tight. Ambi release mechanism that requires a long & hard enough push that it never opens on its own. But it always opens when I need it. Great knife and very handy. Did I need an auto? No. But it's fun & I like it! 3.35" blade: https://microtechknives.com/knife/u

Teething problems w/new guns is common. Seems like FN will eventually figure out the glitch w/feeding. Then I might be interested. I'll wait for now. Thanks for the info @Whisper
  12. I think this kid (above) is sporting a drawn on mustache. That cracks me up. But if you are going to be a "gunman" ya gotta look the part. Well done ;o)

    FN Reflex

NRA magazine article gushed positively about it. It sounded promising but end user actual experience trumps all. Curious to hear if @Whispersister has a better report after a clean & lube. Not a great start.
  14. Clunky website. Odd that they sell ammo to prevent human trafficking. They apparently do accept credit cards, which is generally a good sign. But...if it were me and my money, I wouldn't risk it. I've used these folks before & they are legit: https://www.targetsportsusa.com/
  15. @BHunted You took a wallop! Your house nearly burned down?! Your cars electrics are fried? Your laptop is fried & it was plugged into a UPS? Jesus. You took a direct hit from a mini-nuke. And there is so much more to fix on top of those things. I sympathize. That's crazy. A simple power outage would be a welcome problem over what you are facing. I hope insurance comes through & you are not on the hook for the full cost of repairs. But deductibles alone are going to hurt the bank account a fair amount. I'm just glad you and your wife are okay.
  16. Man, you've had it rough lately. My power went out three times tonight but came back on (thankfully) in less than 5 min each time. I really need to start researching what generator to buy. I hope your power stays on @Grayfox54.
  17. Glad you are okay & you have a generator. Hopefully everyone else is fine, too. Losing power over & over again has me thinking it's time to budget for a generator purchase in the near future.
  18. Great to hear from you! Time heals all wounds. Glad the surgery went well. I'm hoping you feel better soon.
  19. @Jeb48 I hope your surgery goes smoothly & your recovery is quick. Thanks for sharing all these photos with us. We'll be praying for you.
  20. That's crazy...and so American (making something outlandishly huge, just because.) People around the world always amaze with their quirks.
  21. I appreciate hearing what the final issue & fix turned out to be. Thanks for coming back @jgradycand closing the loop on this. I have a Toro ZTR mower doing the same as your tractor so I've been following this thread.
  22. It's the double action only Gen1...which I favor over the LCP II, but everyone has their own preferences.
  23. PM sent. Thanks!
