Gun owners vote more often than non-gun owners. Read more here: https://www.factcheck.org/2024/05/trumps-wrong-gun-owners-more-likely-to-vote/ Excerpt: “Since 1996, the gap between gun owners’ and nonowners’ reported vote is about 11 percent,” Joslyn wrote in his book, which covers federal elections up to 2016. “Turnout among gun owners has increased since 1972 and peaked in 2004 and 2008 at 79 percent. In contrast, turnout declined among nonowners from a high in 1972 of 70 percent to a low of 64 percent in 1996 and 2016.” To me the issue is if ALL gun owners voted "pro-gun" at each election, we could make the difference in a lot of tight races. But overcoming apathy and the mindset of those that think voting doesn't matter is an uphill climb.

4 mins into the 4th quarter and Alabama was still barely ahead of South Florida, 14 to 13. That's embarrassing for a top 5 school. How did they hold on to their #4 ranking after that? I fear Georgia is going to blow 'Bama out when they meet.

He was a good guy. Not the "typical" gun guy youtuber and that's what I appreciated about him. He was 'real' and did some fun stuff that was educational, too. God speed to Mr. Harrell.

Glad you got the washer working again. I hope your back is okay.

I get a 409 error but I just keep refreshing the page two or three times & then they finally connect. Thankfully this forum was unaffected but glocktalk, sigtalk, ruger, & smithandwesson were all giving the 409 error and sometimes still do.

Thanks @Erich Those are great triggers for the money.

Think of it this way - if the Democrats (anti-gunners) win, they will grant citizenship to the 10 to 20 million illegal immigrants they allowed in. From that point onward, the Democrats will never lose a national election again. And the Supreme Court will get packed to flip it to a progressive/leftist majority once more and gun control will wash across the land like a tidal wave. We will become just another Australia/ Canada/ Great Britain with no free speech & no check on Gov't overreach. The end. Vote pro gun. It might be your last chance to use the ballot box to make a difference and save your country. You don't have to "like" Trump to vote for him. You just have to like your freedoms & your country. Choose wisely. Vote wisely. God bless America.

That's aggravating, especially when it is your life & health on the line. I hope they get it sorted & expedited so you can press on w/your testing & treatments.

Welcome! Yes, the rifle and cartridge you are looking at will be fine for elk & bison. The 7 PRC is essentially the same "power" as the good old 7mm Rem Mag, but the PRC barrel twist is faster, allowing heavier (more ballistically aerodynamic) bullets to be used. Elk are tough. They don't usually "bang, flop" so just keep shooting until it goes down, or no longer presents a shot. Better to 'overkill' vs losing an animal that is potentially wounded. Some dislike this philosophy due to potential meat loss. Elk are huge. There will still be plenty of meat to eat. Imagine how much meat you've lost if the animal walks off and dies miles away, never to be recovered. As for bison, they have huge hearts & huge lungs but they are not bullet proof. Same guns suitable for elk and moose, like the 7 PRC, will take out a bison. Same rules as elk apply (don't just shoot once and figure its all over; keep firing for effect.) I shot a bison with a .308 Win (150gr Nosler Partition bullet) and another with a .338 Win Mag (250gr Hornady Interlock bullet.) Neither bison died faster or more dramatically than the other. Don't be worried about needing more gun. Just use good, deep penetrating bullets (i.e., Nosler Partition, Nosler Accubond, Barnes TTSX, Swift A-Frame, Hornady Interbond, and other bonded or controlled expansion bullets.)

It's bad enough this person screwed with your accounts, but then he wishes death on you and your family? Makes you want to go all "Beekeeper" on him, I would think. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15314262/

The discharge of FIREARMS within city boundaries is almost universally forbidden; I had not heard of a prohibition in discharging AIRGUNS (non-firearms). But sure enough, Knoxville is 'special' like that: "Sec. 19-109. - Discharge of firearms, air guns, etc. ( b ) Discharge of air guns, spring guns, etc. It shall further be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge any air gun or air pistol, spring gun or spring pistol, or other device or firearm which is calculated or intended to propel or project a bullet, pellet, air or similar projectile, within the city." I am not aware of this restriction extending to places outside the city limits. I would assume discharging an airgun in the county is fine. If there is no specific prohibition then - by default - it is allowed. That's not to say some Karen won't call the Sheriff and report you for 'having a gun'. But the sheriff will probably be uninterested once they arrive and realize you just have a BB gun or pellet gun.

I hope they can find the cancer. Then treat it, kill it, and get you healed up and back to enjoying life & time w/your family.

You are NOT overthinking this at all. You are being very wise. To answer your question, YES A POWER STRIP HAS CAUSED A FIRE. I know this because that is what the fire department determined burned down my son's apartment and killed his cat. (They told him it ran away when they busted his door down because they didn't have the heart to tell him the truth.) I'm sure electricians reading this are saying, "that shouldn't happen" but the apartments were old, had been thru who knows how many remodels, and the powerstrip was cheap AmaWalmartzon garbage. He had his X-Box & Playstation plugged into the power strip. Not sure what else. Not sure what brand the powerstrip was but can tell you it was whatever Chinese thing was on sale at Amazon at the time we bought it. Made us re-evaluate the powerstrips we have around the house. We found one of our powerstrips fried (blackened at the plug, and dead) in the detached shop. Scary. Glad it was just sitting on the concrete floor and not near anything flammable. Only thing plugged into it was a Battery Tender. Go figure. Looking at the rest of our powerstrips, if they didn't say UL Registered, we tossed them. We are much more diligent buying actual name brand powerstrips with circuit breaker protection now. Could not imagine the heartbreak of losing our home & animals because we used the cheapest powerstrip on eBay to save a few bucks. False economy. Electricity is no joke to us now. Apparently that schitt can burn your house down :o( @GlockSpock - you are smart to think about and question the safety of your situation. And the electrical-knowing people responding; thank you for sharing your professional insight and info. It's helpful.

This seems very much like a @Handsome Rob post, lol! Next thing you know, you'll be painting it black and telling people you created a .361 Magnum ;o) Seriously, that's an interesting find. Seems to shoot suprisingly well, and that's a huge bonus. Heck, for $50 and some of your time and effort, you got a winner there. Any "before" pictures?

You are the Energizer bunny. I don't know how you do it with everything you are going thru. We are rooting for you to have a great outcome. That's odd your local range doesn't have a place to take the unwanted brass. Always metal yards looking for copper & brass. Maybe there just isn't enough of it for them to bother? Glad you and your buddy are "recycling" the good brass so others can make use of it.

@pop pop You are doing great thinking through things you are going to experience and then preparing for them. The special stockings for your flight are smart. Try to get up and walk about every 30 to 45 min, if you can. I think you are going to have a good time seeing some beautiful country & being with the people you love. Maybe you can post a picture or two when you get back?
-
Yeah, the press never misses a chance to sensationalize anything to do with NEGATIVE gun stories (like a shooting or an accidental discharge of a firearm in a gun store.) Seems like word would be out by now. I'm glad its a 'nothing-burger'! That's a good thing in this case.

Not finding anything on a google search as of 11:10pm on 7/31/2024. Now you have me curious. Hopefully someone in the know can post & educate us.

Victoria is beautiful. The gardens are nice. Some people enjoy high tea at the Empress Hotel. My parents enjoyed Ketchikan during their cruise. I'm sure you are going to have a great time. Being with your family is what will be most special. Bonus time you almost didn't have. God is good.

Wow, that is great news about your heart recovering so well after your heart attack. You really are getting a second shot at life. Hopefully the cruise is fun. I do hear the sightseeing from the ship is excellent.

Senator Mike Lee Introduces SHUSH Act
Frog4aday replied to Omega's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Looks like it's time to fire off a letter to my Congressman and Senator and ask them to support (vote "YES") for the SHUSH ACT. But I fear this is just election year posturing as we all know this most likely can't get thru both houses and even if it did, Basement Joe will be told by his puppet master(s?) to veto it. But hopefully we can get a chance to see who in the Senate (and maybe Congress) is really a pro-gun friend so we can vote accordingly in November. -
Interesting story about the groceries you found in Tishomingo, MS. Talk of fresh peaches has me craving one now, ha! I know you have a long road ahead but it seems you are doing it right - one day at a time, keeping a positive attitude and remembering the good times.
