High Caliber

Well I've scavenged most if not all the parts off the ARs, I have a POF that I'm really fond of, so no way that upper/barrel/trigger is going to get melted. I'm putting the parts onto "bolt action ARs" which is almost literally what we have left as an option...until they come for the "high capacity (5) magazines, and they already have that in the works. I mean, the only think they didn't do to us, was the Cali-style no pistol grip rules. There's groups of us that have started to communicate in off-the-grid means, from wikr as a replacement for messenger...actually picking up the phone and calling people, and yes, even writing letters. The leftists and sheep control the technology, but they can't change humanity just because their gender studies teachers told them they can. It's getting to the point where we're starting to see actual underground resistance. The one joke is that gyms have become the new speakeasy. Liquor and weed is available everywhere (weed shops are evidently essential services!), but you can't go keep yourself in shape. To me, that's what an invader would want.... a big fat lazy resistance. So we have to go to "secret" gyms. Like I said, really weird times. The latest bit of insanity has been the "vaccine selfies", and I don't know why people are doing it, are they encouraged to do by the people giving vaccines? I'm not sure, but it seems every sheep is posting on facebooks and instagabs and tweeters about how they "just got vaxed, do your part and get it too!". It's suckered in a few of my buddies, they signed up for vaccines because "seems everyone else is doing it". Again....insanity. Sheep are everywhere, and they're trying to get the sheepdogs all fat and stoned. Bad times all around.

Lol, well we're literally under house arrest here, we're not to leave our houses because the covids. It's getting bad. Police made a public statement that they will not be doing random spot checks on people because of provincial order, and the premiere (who was elected as a conservative but turned leftist within a year) has started talking about bringing in federal "security teams" to enforce the lockdown. Most stores are closed, and those that are open have cordoned off areas. Costoco for example, you can ONLY buy food and meds, anything else won't check through. Kids are not allowed in schools, although they are still paying full wages to teachers...socialism and all. So I would hope that I can take you up on the offer. I don't even know if they still make golden (haven't had one since the 80's I only drink Guinness), but I'm pretty sure I can get you some labatts 50 lol. as purple as your state goes, it pales in comparison to the full on socialism/communism here. We've been chatting with the lawyer, it looks like our best route is to just buy a place there, and sort it out later. Worst case we would apply as political refugees if kanada goes full commie, which it honestly looks like it might. Our "leader" working with china for military excercises, and the threat of both russia and china working together to get a foothold on north america is more likely than ever, considering the US has the weakest leadership in the history of your country, I mean, nobody up here has any misconceptions about what our "army" could do against a real enemy, and if biden can't even protect the US, what chance do we have. It's weird times up here. ....at least liquor is considered a necessity...for now

80+ million patriots. Excellent odds, that's all I have to say. There's simply not enough people realistically ready/willing to conduct any type of active protest here. We're conditioned to be some of the nicest people in the whole world, and it's just not in our nature to question authority too much, it's simply not polite. I feel bad for the fellow Canadians that feel as I do. So many good people you'd feel safe leaving your kids with for the weekend. Those of us concerned with the lack of accountability by government, hypocrisy in the media, and erosion of good family values, but too far spread out and things like snitch lines coming to life. It's one of those "are we really going to be the next venezuela?"

Will do. My wife has been to several parts of tennessee so I throw names at her and she yays or nays it for scoping out when we can realistically spend a week actively viewing properties. Kind of tricky in itself with all the coofid stuff, then the CAN/US relations not being the best. Just feels like something is just about to pop somewhere, Weird times.

Was pretty clear that I don't understand why anyone would move away from a place where politics made it uninhabitable, and then vote for those same policies in the new place. I'm not as partisan as people I know in the US. I don't blindly follow a party if/when they start going insane. Currently the only party making any sense at all is Republican, but you also get guys like the Texas governor reciting liberal talking points. Up here the conservative party is chock full of red cons (that's what we call a liberal acting as a conservative, our liberals are red). I wouldn't vote for a guy that just wears the badge, I want to know what his policies really are, what he/she would do if they were elected. But again, right now the democrats are batc#### crazy. Pelosi is insane, and a threat to democracy, but that's just my opinion. That said, I definitely understand your concern. I share it, as I am worried that Nashville will go full liberal, and they might have the voting power for the state. Suddenly I'm right back in a socialist environment, and damn straight I don't want that. Thing is, according to the immigration lawyer, they are only processing green cards from 2008, so I won't be able to vote for decades, I'm not in the game, so not a big concern. Not so for NY or Cali migrants... I have to stress, we are leaving here because we are capitalists. I like making money, I like making jobs, I like people that have pride in themselves and pride in their work. I despise unions, all of them. I was in the UAW for almost 20 years, and it's a cancer. Up here in the 'great white north' people that don't live in the cities still work for their supper. Sure, we don't mind helping someone who is really in need, I mean who doesn't, but just handing everything over to people who just don't want to work...that's crazy. Unfortunately, people like me are a dying breed up here.

Hickock mentions them a lot, makes sense they're in the state. We have a few larger gun stores here, local one has a LOT in stock, but it's hidden in the back end of an almost vacant mall, next to a vacant lot, with stickers completely covering all the windows like an 80's strip club. I'll have to mark bud's on the map and see what property looks like around there. Thanks!!

So out of curiosity, where would the good gun clubs be? I mean, I get that you don't need to go to a club to shoot (and that's soooo awesome), but for things like IPSC/IDPA/USPSA, who has the most/best matches? We're always dying for more matches up here, but they fill instantly when they do come up, and covid certainly hasn't helped that, and with the AR ban in full swing, we don't even have the 3 gun options, anything long gun is PCC, and my shotty hasn't seen action in forever lol. It's funny, I've never seen the use of IDPA up here because we can't carry, but maybe I'll sign up and start some of that, I have a nice sig legion and a custom holster from andrews custom leather (that guy is so so nice!!!) that I bought on a whim... As well, where are the good gun shops, the ones with the cool stuff? Lots of regulations I'm wading through as to the legality of gun ownership for me, but seems to be once I'm a permanent resident, I should be good, maybe a little extra paperwork. Oh that reminds me, what are the restrictions on full auto and silencers? Obviously those are 100% banned here, and I've never even shot anything full auto (tough enough hitting things with semi!), but besides doing the paperwork and paying the tax stamp, are there other considerations for getting them? I guess I'm asking...when can I get me an M60 with a silencer, custom stippling and 50x sniper scope? lol.

I'll make some calls, as rock solid internet is a necessity, we definitely can't rely on wifi internet, and I thought it might be a problem, considering we want to be some distance from neighbors and cities (cities because I'm done with them, and neighbors just because you might like the neighbors today, but you might hate the next person to buy that house!).

Heh, I see the two sides, and I gotta tell you, if it really came down to it, sign me up with patriots, rednecks and hillbillies any day of the week. I come from old school values. Like the boy scouts used to teach (oh sorry, it's just scouts now isn't it?). I like to help those that need to be helped, not just hand over the keys to the farm to anyone that cries loud enough. Show up to work if someone is awesome enough to give you a job. Thank someone if they help you. Hold the door open for the person behind you. Wave at people you don't know, help gather up the horses because the damn gate was left open again. Community used to mean something, and I like to think it still does, but I have realized that you simply can't be friends with everyone, so I'd rather pick happy decent people. If you can swap out a transmission if it was necessary, and appreciate a good scotch, so much the better.

Lol, you can't put a question mark after eh, you wouldn't have passed the test You know how they say "the grass is always greener on the other side" ? Well that's true here. I had family move to the states years ago, and friends since then, and they all kept saying "come down, why do you stay there?". Thing is, it's never really been too bad here. Sure we're sort of a third world country, sure our money looks ridiculous, but damn, people are nice here (or used to be anyway). It's not a terrible place to live, UNTIL a hostile government takes over, and starts to remind you that you are not free citizens, you are quite literally "subjects of the crown", or in other words property. I believe the government is gearing up to take away the right to own things, the slogan is "you'll own nothing...and love it". Canadians have the highest levels of personal debt in the entire world. Small crappy houses cost 1 million (no joke), with yards that are 35x90ft. Our "real" tax rate is something close to 80%, once you factor in the federal, provincial, sales, carbon and sin taxes. "Free" health care is what we keep bragging about, but let's say I pay $200,000 a year in taxes, and the guy that breaks into my car every night for meth money pays $0. We both end up at the hospital, I have chest pains, and he's on his 5th OD. HE goes first because he got in the door first. Emergency room wait times (pre covid) were up to 12 hours. TWELVE HOURS BEFORE YOU GET TO SEE A TRIAGE NURSE!!! Now a lot of that was union garbage, and we do have some good doctors here (you can't pronounce their names, but they're usually competent), as all of the good english speaking doctors get snapped up by US hospitals. So taking that into consideration, and the tax savings themselves, I'm good with paying for the health insurance, and being able to pick and chose where and when I get healthcare. I mean there's a lot of good here (it's a beautiful country), BUT being a true free citizen of the planet is way way way better. That's why when I get there, I'm going to fly the stars and stripes, remove my hat for the anthem, and be bloody glad I'm there.

The border guys are just dicks. I've crossed into Michigan about 200 times in my lifetime, I don't think I've ever had an issue with the US guys, but coming back is completely a different deal. Now that said, cops coming here for training/competitions are really weirded out by our "never carry, ever ever" policy on handguns, I mean, there's literally nobody carrying a gun that isn't a copper or armed security, so the guys I've met just felt completely naked without a carry pistol, so -maybe- they were thinking of that, who knows, like I said, a lot of them are just dicks, and they gravitated towards border security because they can harass people for a living. Did you know that right now if I was to fly back into Canada, that I may well be forced to go stay at a hotel for a few days in quarantine? Of course, on my dollar. I have to assume that Labrador was pretty hick-ish back in the day. I LOVE the east coast (my daughter is at school in Halifax for a couple more years, we love going out there to visit), but man, that's an extremely poor part of Canada. Good people, but most of them are liberal voters because liberals give out lots of free stuff. I don't know where you would have to go to see "real" Canada anymore. Out in the country in Ontario or Alberta I would say. Any of the cities don't really look/sound like Canada anymore. I certainly don't hate Canada or it's people, but the politics are headed in a real bad direction. I'd rather stand with 80+ million patriots with actual rights, than 1 million Canucks, with a "charter or rights and freedoms" that gets trampled any time it's inconvenient for our dictator leader. Don't get me wrong, there are some absolutely awesome, damn tough people in Canada, but our spirit is crushed, and I just don't see it coming back. Anyplace with a university (much like down south) is going hard left, not really too hard to see where the cancer is coming from

Again, I know I'm posting WAY TOO MUCH, but when I've got a goal or destination in mind, I fixate lol. If anyone has any questions about gun ownership in Canada, please ask. I think I've owned every gun that's legal to own up here, from single shot 22's to my bucket gun the benelli M4. I grabbed a tavor X95 the other day because I've never owned one (kind of growing on me). I own 4 AR-15's which are now slated for destruction. Just like that and done overnight by a coward, bypassing parliament. I also have ~10 handguns that I'm in various levels of love with. All of these are registered, cannot be removed from the house without a permit to transport, and ONLY to an approved range. The ARs are now paperweights, they can no longer be taken outside, and when the deadline comes, I am to call the police, and have them come to my house and pick them up for destruction. Period. The handguns may be banned by municipalities, and the council in this town is "progressive", meaning damn straight they'll try and ban those too. When I see the dems talking about "just a bit of registration or purchase records, or licenses" I know that's where they're going with it. Americans MUST resist any and all "gun control". I agree that anyone with a gun should have some sort of training in order to use them, but to attach that to a license as they did here...no way. I believe that's going to be their next step, they will say that in order to own a firearm you need to prove that you took a gun safety course (public safety again!!), and the proof will be a license. Now they know that YOU likely have guns at your premises. Then they go to the governor and say "oh gosh, look how many people have guns in your state, you should be scared, maybe it's best if you knew HOW MANY guns there are"...and it progresses. I mean I'm not sure who's in charge of America right now (I know it's not that dementia-puddle biden), but I know they are going to push gun control hard now that they hold so much power. You MUST resist. The cry of "public safety" is being used to scare the sheep, and scared sheep come for the farmer's guns. .......I don't even like politics. I hate that I have to be looking into politics this deep, but damn, I just lived through 30 years of what you guys are about to come up against, and the tune hasn't changed a bit I watched a lot of the CPAC stuff that managed to make it online. I think I fell in love with Kristi Noem. Good thing South Dakota is colder than Canada, or I'd likely want to go there lol. It's so refreshing to hear someone talking common sense, instead of the gibberish that comes from the media these days. It gives me hope that the good guys (and gals) will win in the end. I keep telling my wife "we're not on the wrong side of this, we're not far right nazis, we're just people who like freedom, pickup trucks and apple pie".

Yeah I've been following the exodus from the hard blue states pretty carefully, but TN is appealing because it's too cold for californians to hang around too long, and "much too unsophisticated" for fancy new yorkers. Unfortunately I think all big cities will turn blue, until they become uninhabitable. Sooner or later lefties always turn on themselves, so best just let them at it, although I'm eager to visit Nashville, and see all the historical sites around the state, but we were already warned off of Nashville proper. We should have no problem $ wise once we sell everything here. The tricky part is we don't qualify for any kind of mortgage because we are non citizens, so everything has to be cash until we get set up with the IRS, etc. So we literally have to sell everything here, then go there, and buy. The logistics of selling/buying/moving/visa application etc etc is a bit daunting to be honest, so I'm trying to figure out as many things as possible before it all goes ahead (spring 2022 is the absolute latest we want to be out of here). I get along best with gun people, and generally we usually share political views, so I knew this would be the place to start asking questions of "real people". I'm quite excited to go. It's literally an hour drive to the gun range here. Also, I shoot IPSC, we can't practice here unless there are ROs on duty, AND the club has permission to operate (couldn't during all these so called pandemics). The few times I've competed against Americans, well I just can't touch their speed. I chatted with one guy from AZ and he was "I have all of the qualifier layouts set up in my backyard, I can practice morning to night". I mean, how can I ever compete with that, considering all I can do is shoot paper? My practice is done in the garage with an airsoft, and they just proposed to make THOSE proihib. I mean they are after 100% disarmament here, which means they want to do something really ####ty to us. As a Canadian I do have to apologize for such long responses. I'm just so thrilled the wife finally got off the NC choice, she's stubborn when she sets her mind to something. I wanted TN since day one. Can we still fly the confederate flag down there? I mean, I think we all grew up idolizing the General Lee, no?

Beauty eh! I'll scope out the Chatanooga area for sure, see what kind of properties are available, and I'll see about calling the utility. Is it normal to have internet controlled by the electric company? That actually sounds pretty good, as they're probably good at keeping networks up and running. We have to make the trip down and view some properties, although we risk being detained if we fly back in. We're half-assed thinking about just driving down, it's only about 12 hours from here, and it saves us from possible detainment if we fly back into Canada. So we want to have a pretty good idea of where we're looking before we do that.

Well my wife is literally 'the boss' (CEO), and 90% of our clientele is either left, or at least liberal (those two things aren't always the same). So I'm not really allowed to talk to any of the clients (until my wife clears it at least). So I know what you mean. I think she heard that ben shapiro was moving to TN, and she loves listening to that guy (I find he takes 2 hours to say what he could in 2 minutes), but that opened the door for me to get the ok to start hunting for places in TN lol.

We're easy, we just need to be within a couple of hours of a major airport (and TN isn't all that big), AND we need really good internet. We help companies get drugs to market, we deal with the regulators, with the investors, with the drug testing companies, and all of those things can either be done onsite (hence the airport need), or remotely via zoom or whatever (hence the internet). So if you come across any info on the internet situations...let me know. This is the stuff we are looking for. I live on a street where 80% of the people work for the government (teachers, nurses, doctors, city staff etc). ALL of them are more or less untrustworthy when it comes to voicing an opinion. In fact, it's becoming normal to look around and see who can hear before you say anything to anyone. You look to see if you can spot someone who would be "offended" by, well anything. THAT'S exactly what we are leaving. So who knows, you might be my "neighbor down the street" someday. I want to be that neighbor that you call at 4 in the morning because you drove your damn truck into the ditch again. Neighbors used to be like that here (I think a lot of the country folk are still normal people, but you can't escape the government by hiding in the country, there's only 35 million of us up here) lol.

We've got people up here wearing masks in their own houses, and a mobile network of karens driving around looking for people without masks to call snitch lines on. Hell, the fact that we even have ACTIVE snitch lines in most metropolitan areas is insane. People were warned not to have Christmas with their families or face firing (if they work for the government), fines (if a neighbor reported them), or imprisonment if they ignored orders to stop. People here are cheering this #### on. Close the small businesses, but leave costco open. I can't buy dog food unless I pay for it in advance and go pick it up off the pavement, but I can wander through the grimy dollar store next to the pet food store. This is an unprecedented attack on small free enterprise, and more and more people are calling out anyone who is seen as a "capitalist", like that's a dirty word. My one neighbor said "I sure hope they get you at tax time, nobody needs to make that much" (which I assume he means more than he makes). I shoot IPSC up here. That's literally viewed as being a crazy lone gunman to people up here. The gun community is really good, very nice polite law abiding people, but we are few and far between, and they are working hard on eliminating any area where we can shoot ipsc, even though all it needs is little 50x100 foot areas behind berms, that's simply not acceptable for our anti gun mob. Hell our police here aren't allowed to have firearms while off duty, unless they take the gun courses, pay all the fees, join ranges, etc etc. So even to most police guns are "just for criminals". It's bad. We'll be happy to get there, we just have to know where to go. We were warned off Nashville as the most liberal area, so we're looking between knoxville and Nashville, at least for now. It's just hard to pick a new home from pictures on the internet, that's why I hope to connect with actual people on the ground. I was a realtor and renovator for 19 years up here, I know houses, laws, construction, etc, but moving to a completely different country after 50 years here is totally outside my area of expertise. I never thought I'd be an immigrant so late in life...I should have gone south when others in my family did, but I was content. I want to be content again

Everything here has been incremental, first they banned actual assault weapons in (I think) '79, then came after scary guns from movies in the early 90s, now it's anything they don't like (they are banning guns in the background by changing the status of the firearm, one day it's okay, next day it's prohib). Our "leader" is so full of soy, and honestly he's going to win the next election, as the conservative leader is softer than he is.... it's time for us to get out of here before they start forcing untested vaccinations on us (we're in the business of getting drugs to market, the way they have done this whole vaccine thing is insane). Americans have to understand that you can't move one inch backwards. Don't let them pick and chose what they don't like (they don't like anything, the leftists), so they start with the low hanging fruit...ARs, but if you ban ARs, then why not ban all semi autos, they're the same thing, and then they have just shotguns and bolt actions, but they already came for the "high capacity" magazines, so next it will be single action only. THEN they will simply outlaw hunting, and take away any reason (as they see it) to own a firearm. Then, after they have taken all the guns, the government will start taking people they don't like. Your Consitution is the only shield you have against true tyranny. You fought the british for your independence, paid for with the blood of real men and women, don't let then touch even one word of it. If they open it up, and just start taking things out they don't like, it will be EXACTLY like the gun grabs in Canada. Once one bit is gone, then why not take out the other bits. We won't be able to vote for possibly 20 years (citizenship in America is highly sought after...I wonder why), but we will do what we can to support patriots, and people who love what America is, even if some stupid people in your country take it for granted.

Just a rambly letter of introduction... I was taught to shoot by my grandfather, who was a WWII drill Sargent (well Canadian equivalent). I've been shooting since I was about 6, have had guns literally my entire life (my "toy" gun was an old training hi point that gramps likely bought from the army, he was too straight laced to steal anything). We used to have spots we could go on our bikes and shoot, 22 long guns hanging out of gunny sacks on our backs...nobody cared or called police. I've seen that attitude change over the years, with the media pushing a fear-fuelled agenda to disarm those that allow themselves to be disarmed. I am currently serving my "2 year amnesty" for the crime of owning a legally licensed, purchased, registered sporting gun (or as they call it, an "assault style rifle". In fact, they're hitting me for about $4,000 worth of "registered" guns. We've got neighbors calling the snitch lines on people they don't like, screeching about how dangerous guns are, cheering this arbitrary disarmament, and I tell you, I'm done. Put it this way, imagine California suddenly took over, and brian selter was lord and ruler, and he was just splattering the country with all sorts of SJW nonsense...and people were cheering him on. THAT'S what it's like here. They have weed, drum circles, guys that wear twat knots and capri pants...yes there are a LOT of good solid people here, but they've all been driven out of the cities, and the cities have all the voting power. In fact, only 2 cities select the leader, Toronto and Quebec. These are the cities where they direct most "new Canadians" and they shower them with free money, free phones, free healthcare, everything they need, so long as they vote. It's insane but very effective for the left. So we are looking to not only move out of the city, but out of this country. We are one "order in council" away from being a literal dictatorship. He used guns to set a precedent in bypassing parliament kind of what president pelosi did to you). This is the second time in my life they have done this. I lost my AK and MP5 in '94-'95 to a similar ban, and that's when they started registering ARs (swearing they weren't doing it to ban them...ha). Why I joined here was to get a feel/taste for the environment. We have an immigration lawyer helping us out, as we plan on moving a profitable business down there. The plan is to get a property with ~50 acres or so, and I want to set up a spot to shoot (right now I have to travel an hour to a gun range to even plink, and they are trying to enact sound bylaws that will outlaw gun ranges, they are really kicking us hard up here). So I'm looking for maybe advice on areas to look at/avoid, maybe realtors to contact, things to consider, etc etc. Any tips would be welcome. Oh and I'd like to also add. When we get there, we won't be like the "new arrivals" to THIS country. We plan to adhere to the laws and customs of the land, proudly fly the stars and stripes (can we do that as foreigners?), etc etc. We're not looking to rock the boat, we want to embrace what you offer, and hopefully add to it. We'll be setting up an office and looking to expand the business (biotech), add to the coffers of the IRS, etc etc. We are not snotty ungrateful people (in fact, I think we're incredibly nice). My daughter is taking her masters, and hopefully she will take over the company at some point so that I can just sit, drink beer and work on old classic cars or something. Lastly, and this one is both important and sad that we have to say it, but we want to simply stop socializing with leftists/liberals/socialists whatever you want to call them. We originally had pegged North Carolina as our destination, but as we follow the politics, we honestly believe that TN will be one of the last, if not THE last holdout state (I have a very leftist sister in TX, and she is 'thrilled' at how liberal the state is becoming with all the lovely Californians moving in...after destroying their home state with progressivism). So I guess my purpose for posting here is to see if anyone can give some advice on where we should be looking for property. Ideally we don't want to have to rent for a year, then find a place, we'd like to just get a place and move in. The visa system is pretty weird, we more or less have to go there, set up, and THEN apply for the visa, as our investment has to be considered "at risk" to qualify for the E-2. The people on the NC forum were really really nice, and it's honestly too bad their State is going blue, but probably for the best, I wanted TN from the start, my wife wanted NC for the biotech community there, but realistically we just want to be around like-minded people, and live out whatever time we have left, in a truly free State and country. So many Americans are totally clueless about how awesome your Constitution is...they simply haven't lived in a country where the government starts to simply take away freedoms...don't let those freaks alter your constitution, there's nothing like it in the world, and it gives the people power to tell the government ENOUGH. Of course the dems want to obliterate it. How can you herd the sheep when you aren't allowed to build fences around them... We have one business associate in TN, and she's been giving us some tips, areas to avoid, not to travel around unannounced on private property(duh), things like that, but I don't think she really gets what we're looking for.
