  1. Yah,now I have been going out and doing a security check just to make sure there is nothing askew,it may have been the right response but sometimes it makes a person wonder if its really worth the extra headache and worry.
  2. I was standing on my front deck tonight which is fronting the street,to make a long story short, there were about 8 teenagers walking one way down the street and from the other direction was a young couple walking 2 small dogs.Apparently there are some issues between these sets of fine upstanding youngsters.First some name calling erupted then the physical wording of someones going to get their a###s beat down.So I opened my big mouth and told them to keep moving in opposite directions or I was calling the law, well I got some mouthing off but they did move along, eventually I was able to come in and calm down.anyone ever have to deal with what appears to be the starting of some type of gang activity, now I am a little worried that they may retaliate by vandalizing our vehicles or possibly worse.any ideas anyone, was it handled correctly, what would you have done.I dont feel as I should have to put up with this behavior in front of my house or in front of my grandchildren.
  3. I try not to ever leave my carry weapon at home,as like a lot of others,I feel if I am going thru the motions and expense of the permit, also keeping up with the new laws,I dang sure am going to have a piece with me whenever possible. Now if for some odd reason I cant take a pistol with me it makes me a little nervous with out it.I although purposely do NOT visit any business or areas that are firearm restricted, that includes restaurants or stores of any kind or nature.I also would place my percentage of being armed at 95%.
  4. I would choose the SP101,Oh wait,I did.Been there, done the semi-auto thing.I put down my semi's for carry and am fully comfortable with the fact of 5 rounds plus a speed strip in the left pocket.
  5. I have the Maverick Security Model,18.5 inch barrel and comes with the black synthetic stock. All the standard Mossberg barrels will fit the Maverick. On a side note the safety is mounted on the trigger guard which for myself is the right place for it.The Mossberg 500 safety is on the top of the receiver.
  6. I have a MTM Mini that goes up to 750 grains that was about $35.00,I also use a RCBS Rangemaster 750,I usually set the RCBS and then double check with the MTM,so far they have both worked quite well.Originally I crossed checked both of them against a Lee beam scale. Its a good idea to do that cross ckecking thing I guess. The only thing I dont like about the MTM is it also has the auto shut off set too short. My RCBS has a wall adapter so I plug it in,let it warm up and then zero it.This way a person can then just leave it turned on.I am reloading nothing but target rounds so my measurements are normally for Unique or Bullseye and on the light side say between 3 and 6 grains. Both scales measure this pretty accurately from what I can tell.
  7. Needless to say I have not heard good things about the Warthogs, one fella I know has one but its very tempermental towards the hold a person has on it.On the other hand Congrats on picking up a good replacement.
  8. I was in Range USA about a month ago on a slow Monday,a fella walked straight over to one of the employees and asked if they sold sniper rifles, she asked this fella what caliber he was looking for,his reply and I quote(probably something in a 50 BMG)I kinda was wondering how big his squirrels are, seemed like a weird request from someone that didnt seem to know which end of the rifle to hold.Takes all kinds I guess.:screwy:
  9. Well Ok,this makes me feel a little more assured,I followed the manual pretty close and even checked my grainage with 2 scales just to make sure. Its been about 10 years since I have done any reloading so I am a little rusty in the memory lane as far as load data goes.
  10. I loaded some .357 mag with the Hornady 158gr LSWC and have gotten conflicting powder charge recipes, some manuals say start at 5.9 grains and others say start at 4.8.Is this loading at 5.9 grains going to be a little to hot for a lead bullet.I am using the Bullseye by Alliant. This load according to the Lee manual is going to be at over 1100 fps out of a 6 inch barrel.Any experience with this anyone.
  11. Springfield Loaded 9mm with Raasco grips Taurus M85SS with rosewood grips Lastly Ruger MK III with Cocobolo grips I like wood
  12. I have a Ruger SP101 and the bore looks about the same,I dont think if it were mine I would worry a whole lot about it.
  13. +1,my Stoeger Condor works exactly like that.I have not had any problems with it.
  14. Thanks for the info, everyone that carries a revolver should read this.
  15. Nice all around collection you have there.
  16. I have a Stoeger O/U in 20 gauge I use occasionally for trap shooting, although I cant hit squat because I am a poor shot according to my dad,the shotgun did work great. They are usually under $500.00.
  17. Good luck with the Warthog,I always thought they were a neat looking 1911.
  18. You have made a good choice, nothing beats a good revolver, except another good revolver.Nice holster also,Is it a Tucker Gunleather.I have one like it for my 4 inch Tracker.
  19. Yeh,a person can tell I dont really care for the Hogues. Of coarse thats a joke
  20. Yup,well made pistol for sure. Its what I am carrying daily.I like it so much I quit carrying the semi-autos. Mine with the Hogue Monogrip, really fits nice.
  21. I sold 3 firearms there on consignment and it took over 30 days every time to get a check.I do think you will get your check, but it does take awhile.I shoot there quite often and recently I noticed they have had a bit of turnover in employees. For the most part they are usually pretty friendly and helpful.
  22. Yup,seeing as the .357 will handle .38 special it would be kinda stupid to buy the .38 only.I guess there is a few folks that prefer it or they wouldnt offer the pistol chambered for it.
  23. Well I went and officially turned myself over to the Ruger temptation, picked up a new SP101 with the Crimson Trace grips, they dont make the 3 inch barrel with the grips already on it,so I settled for the 2.25 inch barrel, fits my holsters nicer anyways. But here she is in all of the stainless glory. Also in .357 Mag,I didnt realize they make this one in .327 Federal also, not to mention 9mm.
  24. Yessir, thats exactly the one I would like,3 inch with Crimson Trace grips.
