  1. Tonight is the first night of Chanukkah, the celebration of the Hebrew Maccabees victory over the greeks and the return of the jews to the temple in jerusalem. This is also the only time that chanukkah will coincide with Thanksgiving for another 750000 years!! Both holidays about freedom of religion - how wonderful to see them happen at the same time!
  2. Here's the deal: 7.62x39 : - most popular - plentiful cheap mags ($10-20) both corrosive and non corrosive ammo choices - cost per round 25 cents and up 5.45x39 : still new to lots of folks but gaining popularity. currently limited to corrosive surplus ammo and very cheap 18cents! Mags are $25 and up depending on country and collectability Current soviet caliber so drying up is only if an import ban occurs. But if that happens its the same issue for the cheap 7.62x39 ammo .223 : mags hard to find and expensive. Mag needed will vary by type of rifle. There is no standard. Resale is more difficult

  4. I think that the fact that the survivalist kept the decapitated heads and also kept his zombie family locked up, served as a validation to the governor that maybe he wasnt nuts. Got to love his new pond zombie aquarium - i guess no one will be playing at the old Swimming hole any more!

  8. While i personally avoid putting myself in situations which may lead to challenges with LE, i do beleive that these examples ARE like the lunch counter sit ins of the 1960's, or even Rosa Parks. We are in a renaissance time for development of 2nd amendment rights - much like the 1950s-1970s saw public and legal action on 1st and 14th amendment issues. My hat is off to anyone who manages to create a safe, respectful way of expanding the publics educations and understanding of the 2nd amendment. Sometimes it will take uncomfortable moments to create this clarity, but it is essential to our liberty.
  9. +1 for Sam - i just had him do some bluing work - nice! He's a take no BS kind of guy - and i like that but some folks take it personal

  14. How would a police officer be able to discern that you were texting vs just dialing the phone or using a gps feature on the phone? And for those who would suggest that their observation would open the door for a search of your phone to see if you were texting, what if my phone is password protected and i refuse to provide my password?
  15. You would think the repubelickans would learn a trick or two from the left and run an ultra left wing candidate to poach votes off the democratic candidate
  16. I have a very nice 1944 izveskh ex sniper all matching numbers that i was planning on listing in the trader - shoot me a PM if you're interested
  17. I collect milsurps, and frankly find my time better spent on the various forums on the net vs wasting time hoping to come across the deal of a lifetime
  18. Your post support my argument for school vouchers - let the market decide As far as homeschooling goes, it is something that everyone can do if they desire - the resources are out there - and for dual working couples, vouchers would free them from the only option of their local public school. Why should your childs school funding be based on where they live? Its a silly concept
  19. The real bullying is filing a lawsuit
  20. And the logical conclusion to these facts is to homeschool if you care about your kids. Or else immerse them in an environment of peers and parents with much lower values placed on education
  21. We,ve homeschooled our kids from day 1. I was equally concerned with how we would tackle complex subjects once we got past the three "r's". What i found was that as time went on, technology and the internet opened up amazing doors. Our children are able to tale classes taught by college professors who supplement their income via online teaching. And now universities have figured out there an incredible business opportunity here - my oldest is taking an AP Biology class through Johns Hopkins - all online. The "socialziation" argument is bunk - plenty of activities available locally to plug into. The 19th/20th century teaching model is obaolete. Why ahould where you live dictate WHO will teach you? Clearly there are better teachers than others, which is why the teachers unions are opposed to online solutions. Universal education is critical in a democratic society - however, the notion that it must be delivered Publicly exclusively is crapola. School vouchers would free poor students from being forced to attend schools populated with bad elements, and it would foster the shift to a 21st century delivery model of education
  22. We need a new law prohibiting employees from being fired. That should stop the senseless violence
  23. Correction: An ACOG gives you magnification AND you can use both eyes open But if youre only shootif 25yds, i dont see the point of a scope - go with a dot - Eotech, Aimpoint, Meprolight, burris, etc
