Irrelevant. No one should have to complain. The state leading a prayer is the problem. individual led prayer is perfectly ok How would you like to speak up amd be the sole religious minority in the self described close knit community ? Based on leroy's comment above, you would expect physical harm to come to you.

The cynic in me wonders if the principal is simply trying to pimp shine his bonafides prior to a contract renewal
-
Yes - see my post above - wbir news story quotes the principal admitting he organized the prayer

This! Goes for AKs as well

Sounds like they should pay for another part in the lower region based on an earlier post Blech!!

Lets examine the facts here: The school previously had prayers delivered over the PA system. The ACLU filed a complaint reminding the public school they could not do this. School changes to a moment of silence. After a year or so, The principal chooses to organize a prayer by asking the cheerleading squad to say the lords prayer. "We went to the cheerleaders and said ‘would you consider leading the Lord’s Prayer during the moment of silence for anyone that would want to join in?’ It was at their discretion and they organized it." Stupid, stupid, stupid - he as the leader of the public school just asked the children to lead a denominational prayer. He is in the wrong. If the kids had done this on their own, it would have been fine - the problem was a the principal initiated it.

Leroy - "Apostate jewish community"? what exactly is that? I would advise the OP that there is a quite a difference between collecting objects because of their historical significance or collecting them because they are "cool" and you find the evil ideology behind those objects to be interesting in either a prurient or other manner outside of history. Its not 100% clear which camp you are in.

What a total douchy complaint! As much as the complaint professes to not want to injibit lawful firearms ownership, it sure does not really do that! Of course IANAL The plaintiffs allege that the defendants created a public nuisance by selling legal items! And the complaint also tries to pierce the corporate veil by naming the owners as individual defendants Scum !

80 year old NC gun registry law repealed
Hershmeister replied to Hershmeister's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
For those too lazy to click the link, the law was a requirement for citizens of Durham county (only) to register their guns. Likely a Jim crow law. I suspect an archivist could research newspapers of the time to try and learn more, buy they seem only interested in retaining the registration papers because they are "historical". -
Interesting story http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/gun-registry-law-gone-debate-over-files-persists-1410562366?mobile=y

Of course - how did i not see that?[emoji33] Too bad they only passed laws forbidding jews from owning guns. If only they had gone all the way and disarmed the state too.
You'd possibly be the only person in the state that would have it on your arm to begin with. :) But it also begs the question, if you told someone strapped into one to "DROP YOUR WEAPON!!", but he couldn't! :) :) - OS
Reminds me of the scene from Fargo (the TV show)! -
I would think that their intimate experience with a totalitarian regieme and dictator who restricted all individual freedoms, especially the freedom to express your opinions and views with the threat of prison or a concentration camp would motivate them not to pass such totalitarian laws. It's the same type freedom restriction law Heinrich Muller would have approved of for different reasons. Of course his punishment would have been a little more sever.
There certainly is a range of opinion on this issue, and different countries have taken a variety of approaches. http://www.yadvashem.org/yv/en/holocaust/insights/pdf/bazyler.pdf
In America as of right now, it's your constitutional right to go around saying that you don't believe the holocaust ever happened, and it's everybody elses right to laugh and call you an idiot. I believe in Germany and Italy and maybe in a couple of other European countries you can be arrested and face 2 years in jail for simply "saying" you don't believe that the holocaust happened. It's kind of ironic that they would be so sensitive to their history of an evil totalitarian Reich that they would have totalitarian laws against dumb but non-threatening speech. The same restrictive speech laws just like they had in 1935 to 45. Now they treat you a little better than the Gestopo did but it's still a loss of freedom for simple speech. Of course many democrats in America would like to see the same type of restrictive speech laws under the name of "hate speech" weather it's threatening or not, a betrayal and dis-respect of our Constitution and Bill Of Rights.
It is somewhat ironic from an American perspective, but their intimate experience with the horrors of fascism and nazism led them to this decision
