  1. Rabbi, if you wish to LEARN and gain knowledge and insight into this, feel free to contact me. I would be glad to get you up to speed. Here is a ruling letter from ATF that states that the pistol receiver must not have ever been built into a rifle This is why Stag offers the Cert of non-assembly for the prospective builder/buyer. Remember, when the receiver comes into your shop, you log it in as a pistol or long gun. If it goes onto your books as a long gun...and you mark Rifle on the 4473, guess what....its a long gun. Most companies will not take the time ship receivers with certs of non-assembly, but Stag is willing to do so. Major props to them! Is the Certificate required? No. Does it make things more clear and easier for the buyer? I think so! Here is an example of a dealer bringing in a receiver, putting it on his books as a long gun, and marking the 4473 as pistol. While the buyer ended up being fine, it caused some questions and confusion for him. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=122&t=330003 Read this: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=122&t=266557 It will explain everything you need to know regarding this matter.
  2. A bit of interesting Sabre trivia: They produce two different receivers: 1. "Sabre "kitty cat" rollmark= Left Sabre as a complete rifle built BY THEM 2. No kitty; Just Sabre Defence Nashville, TN = Sold as a stripped or complete lower, and then built by someone other than Sabre.
  3. I was wondering how many would be interested in a Mid-TN shoot that included a few Class III items. The event would be held around Winchester TN 37398, and would be open to any TGO member and their guests. I would bring 4 or 5 machine guns, as well as a bunch of sound suppressors for those that are interested in getting into the "quiet game" We can demo suppressors in the following calibers: .22 .223/5.56 .308 9mm .45ACP Members would be free to shoot our select fire weapons as much (within reason) as they want for free (no "rental" like other places) but would be required to purchase and use our ammo. *This is for liability reasons: I want to control what ammo goes into my guns! Members would be encouraged to bring their toys as well for shooting and showing off Thoughts?
  4. Correct. For a SBS to be classified as an AOW and subject to a 5.00 tax stamp rather than the 200.00 stamp required on the SBS, the device must be built on a virgin reciever.
  5. If you wish to show your ignorance, please feel free to PM or contact me offline. Are you really trying to sharp shoot another dealer in open forum? Classy.
  6. As you may (or may not) know, you may not build an AR pistol from receivers previously built or registered as rifles. This means that receivers must be logged in as a PISTOL rather than a rifle for it to be eligible for the buyer/builder to make it a pistol. Stag Arms will send a Cert of non-assembly at the dealers request for a specific serial numbered lower, which states that this receiver has never been anything but a pistol. Note: While you may not go from rifle to pistol, you are able to go from pistol to rifle. BUT, once it has been converted to a rifle, you cant (legally) go back to pistol configuration.
  7. As someone mentioned; All (or at least most) lower receivers are built to the same specs these days. It really boils down to what you want the roll mark to say. We stock and sell Stag Arms (CMT) lowers as our in-house brand. We have been very happy with the quality of both the Stag rifle, and their lowers. Remember that Stag/CMT has built, or currently builds parts, lowers, and rifles for most of the big names in the industry. These go for 130.00 (prices on lowers is on the rise once again) in the shop, and we also offer lowers with a Certificate of Non-Assembly from Stag for another 10 bucks. This is great if you are building an AR pistol. We also sell Noveske (made by Stag/CMT), Wilson Combat, and Sabre Defence if you are looking for something a bit different. Good luck with your build, and feel free to contact us if you have questions about your build sheet, or the actual build.
  8. Yeah, I cant fire Sam....then I couldnt speed through his town You guys keep an eye out for Sam...he isnt hard to miss, but I thought I would post a picture of him anyway
  9. Welcome Sam. You're fired.
  10. Sorry to hear that. I wish him the best.
  11. Welcome
  12. A few thoughts: I traded this very 1911SC TO Demon about 6 months ago. The gun was used at the time, and was one of the older models (old billboard style markings) The real value of this gun would be around 600 bucks in a FTF sale -so- Demon ended up trading a well used (but good condition) 1911 + holster + ammo for a new in box M&P + holster (the very same Safariland he was trading in) + ammo + blackground for zero bucks out the door. Keep in mind that when you trade a gun to a dealer, you save sales tax (9.25% here) which can end up representing a healthy savings to the customer. I know there are dealers out there that will jack someone on a trade, but there ARE dealers that are fair when it comes to trades. I ALWAYS give these options to my customers: Cash price- The price I will sell my gun for Trade price- The price I will sell my gun for, with the trade value factored in. I also provide this info: Street value- The value that we feel their trade is worth should they market and sell their firearm themselves. We always explain that this is THE BEST option for them if they want to get the most out of their firearm Consignment price-We will also offer to take the trouble of them having to sell their firearm, and do it for them. This gets them more than they would in a trade, but slightly less than they would by selling it themselves. Some customers like this option, since they dont have to deal with rednecks trying to trade them 3 goats and a boat motor for their firearm Anywho- Demon was able to trade a gun, ammo, and holster he no longer wanted for a gun, holster, and ammo that he wanted. Not bad if you ask me

    Plinker?

I really think you would like the Sig Mosquito. Look for one locally, and if you cant find one, I have one you can check out. Its only a 200.00 tax stamp...NOT your first born.
  14. Nice
  15. Welcome
  16. If you guys (remember; im the new guy) work up a design you want, I can have it mocked up and post a draft or drafts for people to approve. The cost to then turn the image into a digital file that works one their machines is around 100 bucks. This is a fixed and one time cost. If the Admin or another member can email me the best quality image of the TGO logo available, that would be a start.
  17. If you guys do this, make sure you use very high quality polo shirts. My suggestion would be something like the 5.11 Professional Polo. http://www.511tactical.com/index.asp?dlrID=511&dept=49&number=41060 These shirts may cost a few dollars initially, but the quality will override the added cost down the road. If you guys need help with this, I would be happy to provide these shirts at rock bottom prices to the members. I could also help with getting them embroidered, since I have a local company that does top notch work.
  18. What is the purpose of the background check? Are you wanting to dig into someones actual background? or are you wanting to the same sort of check done when submitting a 4473? If that 4473 check is all you are wanting, most dealers can run YOUR info through TBI as if you were buying a gun. We have done these checks for many customers, and simple ask that the customer pay the 10.00 that the State charges us for the check.
  19. Is there a public range in Jasper? Someone told me there was a range or gun club in that area, but I havent been able to find it.
  20. Are you going to add some real guns too? 1911. End of discussion.
  21. My pleasure
