Ok guys....heres the deal; whatever logo we decide, THATS what I am going to have sewn. I am footing 100% of the cost of the hat inventory, the cost of digitizing (around 100 bucks) plus the hassle of getting the hat color married up with the requested logo color. I AM NOT going to add even more variables than we already have. If the official logo design has the URL, then we will go with that. If Dave wants to drop the URL in the official design, I need to know NOW, as I have an appointment with my guy in 45 minutes. /rant

Thats a great idea, but my embroidery shop HATES to do this (major time and extra labor involved) and the price and leadtime will go through the roof if this is what you guys want to do.

I think a cool option would be to add your username to the back of the hat. I did this option for all the guys in my unit a few years ago (call signs or names, not usernames) and it was about 3 bucks extra. **Its time consuming to set up each hat for an individual run, so thats where the added cost comes in.

Many of the guys in my unit work for Triple Canopy and they have an official "unofficial" policy to get an operator out of country the moment they are involved in a shooting. This is to prevent the operator from being wrongfully charged or used to make a political statement by Iraqi officials.

How did you guys spend 9/11? As 9/11/07 passes, I would to think of this day not as an anniversary or memorial, but as a day for myself, and those like me to reaffirm our commitment to the safety and well being of our countrymen. For me, today was special. I am currently attending the Army's SFAUC Course or Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat Course. Over 2 weeks of advanced firearms training and engagements, room clearing, force of force training, super-duper black bag ninja stuff, etc. What better way to remember 9/11 than to spend it with your brothers in arms on the range for 10 hours! As I took to the range today, I remembered back 6 years ago when shortly after 9/11/01 I found myself leading a group of 39 men to the Middle East in the opening days of our War on Terror. In the time since I first stepped onto that bird, over 3000 U.S. Service members have given their lives to insure that those attacks are never repeated. Another 50,000+ Service members have been wounded, their lives changed forever, in that same effort. With those thoughts and figures in my head, it made each and every engagement seem a bit more important to me. Regardless of what events, and what leadership successes or failures led or contributed to the attacks that day, America changed forever that day. Today, I reaffirmed my plead to this nation, and to my brothers to the right and left of me on that firing line. I am committed to defending this nation, and if called to do so, am prepared to lay my life on the line for the safety of those in my unit, and those across America. /babble. **Authors note: Im sorry if this seems like a incoherent rant. I am smoked for 4 days of intense training, but wanted to record my thoughts and feelings of the day.

ANY training (*yes, even bad training) is good if you allow yourself to view each event as an opportunity to learn from what went right, and what went wrong. Repeat want made sense and went well. Make sure you dont repeat what went wrong. Im not telling someone to take every stitch of training as gospel and apply it word for word. If you are being instructed in something that is completely contrary to what you have taught in the past, thats not such a bad thing. There may be some good stuff in there. Its YOUR responsibility to decide if any or all what is being presented to you makes sense, and has a place in your personal collection of TTPs. (Training Tactics and Procedures for you non-Army types) **off topic a bit, but it drives my point home (at least to me) I learned more about leadership from my worst squadleader than I ever learned at PLDC (and BNCOC, ANCOC, ISG Course) I had this squadleader named SSG Doug Smith. I hated this man with all my heart. He represented the worse type of leader: selfish, zero integrity, led from the rear, do as I say- not as I do, lied, cheated, im sure stole...you get the point. As a young private through corporal, I loathed this man. But funny thing; I allowed myself to learn from this man. What did I learn? exactly how NOT to be a leader. I spent the first 2 years of my Army career storing all of this "how not to be a douche bag" away in my head. I have literally spent every day of my career trying to not be like Doug. When I was faced with a character or moral decision, I would think about how Doug would have handled the situation. I then did the exact opposite. I have factored every decision I have made while in the Army on "what would Doug do?" So yes, you CAN learn from bad training and leadership.

+1 Allowing ourselves or this board to be sucked into the TR/JY controversy only brings us down. Suggestion: If James comes on here and spouts off like in the past, lets deal with him directly. If not, then we should let sleeping dogs lie. There are plenty of anti-JY websites and postings out there. I dont think we need to waste our time with him. If we stop talking about him, perhaps the TR/JY fanboys will stop feeling the need to rush to his defense and clutter this board.
