  3. There are many very good NFA guides available on the internet, and this is an attempt to speed your search for accurate advice and information. It is the responsibility of the reader to verify that the information contained in this thread is timely and still accurate. I encourage members to consult their Local, State, and Federal officials if you have questions or concerns not addressed in this thread. 5. We have done both DuraCoat and CeraKoat, and I have had good results with both. With any finish, its all in the prep. DuraCoat has a rainbow of color options: http://www.lauerweaponry.com/duracoatcolors.cfm?colortype=stock&Category=220 While Cerakoat colors are more "industrial": http://www.larsontactical.com/id24.html IMHO the best guys in TN doing this sort of work is VOW in Cleveland and Predator in Knox.
  6. I didnt take the time to read all 6 pages, but if this thread is like every other Glock Vs. X thread, im sure I have already heard the arguments... :) I will stir the pot by suggesting that perhaps the Glock is every bit as safe as any other gun on the market, and its the OWNERS of Glocks that are less safe than other gun owners
  7. I wear the 5.11 Operator Belt about 4 days a week (I wear a Gould and Goodrich Gun Belt the other 3 days) and will tell you that this truly is one of the best nylon "tacti-cool" belts out there if you plan on actually using it carry a gun. I have been issued and/or purchased about every other option available from companies such as Tactical Assault Gear, Blackhawk, Wilderness, etc and for the specific task of carrying a gun, the Operator seems to be one of the best options at a very affordable price. Keep in mind, that 5.11 actually makes 3 different nylon tactical belts. The only one that is a good carry belt is their Operator. All others are way too soft and flexible to serve as proper gun belts. http://www.511tactical.com/belts.html There are plenty of 5.11 dealers on the web if you cant find a local dealer. 5.11 Dealers in TN: http://www.511tactical.com/find-store.html -or- You can stop in to my shop next time you are in the area, and we would be happy to sell you a good gun belt
  8. Welcome from a fellow 1st Cav trooper! *1-5 Cav 1993-1996
  9. You need credentials or a FFL to shop/purchase goods/guns from both GTs and Craigs. When Craigs brings a lot of seized guns in, they will normally wholesale most of it out to other distributors or smaller gun shops. I dont think they will sell to the general public (neither ute guys, or the band) When I have taken in large lots (150-250 guns) We will take the crap (raven, hi point, Jennings, ect) and sell those to other FFLs outside of my area that have the appropriate customers for such firearms. We will then try to blow out around 50% of it in a big sale. *Like we did in the week leading up to Jan 19th. We sold around 150 seized guns that week. The rest we will absorb into our showroom inventory.
  10. I think I was there 03-06 give or take a few months. LTC Overbee was the PMS at the time. Were you in the program? or did you just shoot there?
  11. I was the senior NCO teaching there at MTSU a few years ago. One of my duties was training and oversight of the unit's match team. I spent a lot of really hot and really cold days in that range. (its not conditioned )
  12. Most depts will put their retired duty guns along with seized firearms out for bid to a select group of LE type FFLs. These are normally sealed bids, and the winning bidder must take 100% of the inventory. (no picking through and just taking the "good stuff") The FFL will normally offer credit to the dept. to be used as needed on things like; new duty weapons, ammo, uniforms, tactical gear, other misc. equipment. This is done because any CASH proceeds from the bid/sale are put back into their cities/counties general fund to be used as the finance dept. sees fit. This would mean that the Chief or Sheriff loses all that money that could have been used to purchase much needed gear for his officers. FFLs in the area that normally get opportunities to bid on seized firearms include: Hero-Gear Craigs Firearms GT Distributors
  13. Prices range from around 400.00 to well over 4000.00
  14. We sell both ITT and ATN night vision. We source lots of PVS7B and PVS14 units for several of our higher end clients, as well try to stock at least one or two night vision scopes for sale at all times. I have a nice 1st Gen ATN scope in stock right now if you want to put hands on live product. We are 50 minutes from you, so take the short drive to HG.
  15. That looks exactly like a Uncle Mikes holster, and is designed as a Level I duty holster. The UM version actually costs less, but I question why you would want a jacket slot/1.5" drop holster. Are you using it for security or LE use? If not, there should be plenty of other options out there that would be better for range/carry use. Check this out: http://www.donhume.com/Products/ProductsPage.cfm?ProductID=42 More Don Hume P99 options: http://www.donhume.com/Products/ProductsList.cfm?action=SearchByWeapon&WeaponID=261 We are the largest Don Hume dealer in the area, so if you find something you like, let me know.
  16. Nice. How much did you pay?
  17. I think you have a great idea, and your thoughts and generosity towards Disabled Vets are something that I would love to support. I have an issue with the guns you are using for this project. Why are you using a gun that 1. doesnt tie in with your theme (WWII P51) and 2. isnt even made here in the US? My suggestion is to use a gun that already reflects the era you are trying to commemorate such as the 1911. You should also think about using guns built by companies like Smith and Wesson, that actually build guns here in America. I will offer to support your project by providing your first gun at 20% BELOW my actual cost. Added: I realize that SA does make some of their guns 100% in the US, but I have issues with the XD being used, since its not made here.
  18. Just call my guy John L. at Wilson. He will tell you everything you need to know.
  19. Congrats on your purchase David. Sorry I didnt get to meet you, but im out here in sunny CA on business. FYI: The great fish sandwich promotion is for SW rifles, not 1911s
  20. Thanks for your kind words It was nice meeting you the other day, and im sorry I didnt have more time to spend with you that day. I will look forward to working with you next time you come in.
  21. Check out my sig.
  22. Thats pretty freakn lame
