  1. Legally? No. You can take a pistol and make it a rifle, bu one it's had a stock installed, it will always be classified as a rifle.
  2. I figured I would stay late tonight and put the packages together for you. Check this out: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=147746#post147746
  3. I will put together a few packages tomorrow and post pictures, but I am confidant that you can buy a complete SBR from us for 1200.00 that is way less hassle and way cooler than the RRA pistol to SBR route you are looking at
  4. Can you do it? Yes Do I think its a cost savings measure? No
  5. .357 support and hype is on the decline. Companies like Sig are offering less guns chambered in this round, and we see .357 Glocks/XDs/Sigs/Smith M&Ps being traded in like crazy for like or similar guns chambered in 9/40/45. I think people are starting to realize that you can get similar or better ballistics out of calibers that cost less to shoot.
  6. Dude, right on! Words to live by for sure!

    AR-15 to 6.8

You can change out your barrel, bolt and mag followers, but my suggestion would be to buy a complete upper and swap back and forth.
  8. What does that have to do with Cal Berkeley? There are lots of towns in America that have a high Mexican population. Ever been to the Southwest or Southern Cal? Make sure you bring your English/Spanish dictionary!
  9. Have you read BOTH AARs? Read the official DoD AAR and then read his....interesting how one is biased towards his own heroism. I have said this a million times; there is no way we can sit and monday morning quarterback his actions. We werent there, and no matter how many times one watches the video, you wont get a total view of what happened that day. My personal issues with Yeager revolve around the complete and total lack of respect he showed his fallen brothers. He painted himself to be the hero of the battle by blasting the acts and reputation of dead men. Men that no longer had a voice or means to defend themselves. This is why I think Yeager is a total piece of ****. I dont care how many babies he kisses, how many Girl Scout cookies he buys, or how many free classes he gives to charity; the guy dishonored himself by stomping on the graves of his fallen brothers.
  10. I have a saying (and if you have ever spent time in my shop, you may have heard me say it) "We don't SELL guns here. We shouldn't have to. What we do is listen to your needs, present you with options, and assist you in making the best selection that suites your needs" We could really care less if you buy a Glock, Sig, or Smith and Wesson. Its all the same to us. If you buy the gun thats right for YOU, then you have a better chance at having a total positive experience, which reflects back on us.
  11. Whether a gun is "CA Legal" or not has nothing to do with magazine capacity. In order for a gun to receive the Kalifornia seal of approval, a manufacturer must submit 3 examples of the gun they wish to sell to CA DOJ. The manufacturer does not get these samples back. As you can imagine, this gets very expensive, which means most makers of expensive guns do not offer their entire catalog for sale in CA.
  12. Great feedback guys, keep it coming. (This thread is going to be required reading for my entire staff) How things you consistently look for, but can never find at your local gun shop? (dont bother mentioning that you can never find new Ed Brown for under 1500 bucks, or you don't understand why dealers dont sell new Glocks for 300 bucks out the door )
  13. Following up on a few comments in other threads about how people hate gun shops, I think it would be cool to hear from the masses about what they like or dislike about gun shops. Don't like something about your gun shop? lets hear it! Changes you think would benefit the customers? Tell us how! Your insight will be good for us (industry types) to hear ways you think we can better serve our customers. Rules: Please don't name shops specifically. Lets not turn it into a flame-fest, but a positive discussion about how we as an industry can be better. Ok guys.....lets hear it!
  14. Do tell. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=147375#post147375
  15. A good 1911 can provide the shooter one of the best shooting experiences possible. A bad 1911 can frustrate the shooter to the point of throwing the gun in the closest trash can. The key is finding/buying/building a good one. Anyone can put a 1911 together, but not all can build one that runs right.
  16. Congrats on your purchase. After taking a test drive, my initial thoughts on the 556 are: 1. Trigger feels great! For a guy that spent his career shooting crappy GI triggers in his M4, the Sig trigger is pure luxury. 2. The mag release is 1/2" too far forward. This may not be big for some shooters , but it totally screws with someone used to the ergonomics of the M4. Its something you can train around...but why should you have to? 3. The Command Arms plastic furniture is total crap. Why wouldnt Sig spec better gear on their rifle? 4. Pretty well balanced and an absolute joy to shoot! Im trying to stay off the pas piston bandwagon, but this rifle makes it hard to do.
  17. Here's another thought; if I want to learn how to shoot a Glock upside down between my legs at a target 50m away, or how to run like a girl for cover when my boys are receiving direct fire, im going to seek out the expert. The guy above should be reason enough to encourage everyone considering where they will spend their next "pay to train" dollar to seek out a trainer that not only has lots of cool looking diplomas, but honorable real world experience in the discipline being taught.
  18. +1 Even though Todd seems to be all pissed at me and is being really defensive here, I read his course description for his tactical carbine class, and it seems dead on. Here is a description of one of his classes So lets see, if I send my wife (no Military/LE/armed duty experience) to his class, she is going to learn;1. basic firearms safety 2. legalities of deadly force 3. how load, fire, reduce malfunction, continue to fight or defend oneself, etc. Pretty solid outline in my opinion, and #1&2 are JUST as (if not more) important as #3. Basic and to the point. Sounds good for 99% of their potential clients. What I DON'T like is all the "warrior ethos" bs and the "let us get you ready to be a one man wrecking machine" stuff that is sometimes taught by guys with zero warrior experience. - No Todd...I don't mean you!- If I want to learn how to conduct myself in a firefight or when engaging multiple badguys, I want to take that class from someone that has actually performed these acts. NOT from an instructor that took a class from the guy that performed these acts and is now passing on his system or tactics. I have spent my entire adult life training to engage from an offensive standpoint. Train, gear up, go find the bad guy. So, I am interested in attending Todd's class not because I want to know about warrior mindset (I have received lots of free training on this from .mil/.gov) but I am very interested in his insights and thoughts on civilians defending themselves at home, work, etc. From both a TTP and legal standpoint. One more thought; How about all of the instructors post how they have personally used the TTPs they teach? CIS is made up of cops and Air Force cops... Cool. The CCA guy sounds like a super cop. cool again. Cool Hand Luke? What LE/.Mil/Private Sector "go kill the bg" stuff have you done? Others? *if you dont want to post for personal, operational, or whatever reason thats cool. But I think its important for people to know that the guys teaching them have actually used the TTPs they teach successfully.
  19. dude, keep your crazy fantasies to yourself....sicko!
  20. I can eat my body weight in loaded potato soup! How about the black and blue salad? Ever try that with medium rare steak and extra blue cheese?
  21. Yeah, even being a NorCal native, I have to agree and say that if the entire city of Berzerkly were wiped from the earth, I wouldnt shed a tear....
  22. So the American Military is funding projects at CAL? If the granolas find out, they will burn that place to the ground! :P:D
  23. No worries Todd. My comments were not directed specifically at you. I dont know you, but I do see that in addition to the "let me pay you to be a badass" schools you have attended, you also serve your country in the Air Force and your community as a LEO. Good foundation to being a well rounded instructor. (although I think its funny that you list the Active Shooter stuff...every officer (including myself) has attended this as part of their recent In Service training...Not really all that high speed IMHO ) I will say that there are others (here and all over the net) that can list 300 private sector training events, yet I doubt few of them have exchanged fire in either offensive or defensive roles. I find it hard to take advice and direction from people that push their own warrior mindset with little or dishonorable service in that capacity. (think "get off the X") I would be interested in attending a few of your classes. I promise to bring an open mind, and a loaded carbine Edited to change rolls to roles.... (damn spelling/grammar nazis! )
  24. "I want you guys to think of me as your big toe...." Roger that.
