  1. Yep thats it just exactly as I pictured it is 100% factory correct. . all the way down to the plant 416 early model no checkers on pistol grip. . damn nice find if you ask me
  2. Cool lets see those pix. . .
  3. You cant go wrong with that. .that would make it AKS-7.62. . with spring loaded firing pin. . underfolder bayo. . checkeckered pistol grip. . should be a cwxxxx series. . thats a fine buy. Most of Kengs were factory 386 but if it were a factory 416 gun then it would be a pwxxxx seties and wouldnt have the pringloaded firing pin or checkered grip the rest would be the same
  4. That should be a damn fine purchase. . especially if it a Kengs Firearms Import. . if the serial codes are correct for what its supposed to be . . like CSxxxx for a plant 386 side-folder like mine . .etc. . the only reservation that I could possibly think of having is if the gun was a B West Import with a milled receiver some of those. . not all. . .have issues with the receiver cracking. . but only certain ones. Other than that I demand that you purchase this weapon and post detailed pictures of it in this thread that I may drool upon them. . Then take it out of its NiB status and introduce it to some m67 and prepare to be amazed. . . Also if its truly "new in box" and i know this is true if its a Kengs. . NIB would be box with styrofoam insert (if it doesnt have the insert be wary. . the box without the insert can still be purchased at PolytechParts.com. . but the insert cant. .3 polytech mags with chrome followers. . green sling with leather ends. . .a little green oil bottle. . a little cleaning tool. .and a bayonet. The only prebans sans bayonet are later AKS series sidefolders. . but the factory 386 Sidefolders have the spring loaded firing pin. Theres one gunbroker right now. . a KFS imported milled Ak47/S. . NIB with 100 rounds through in dark wood. . the has bids currently at $1600.00. . reserve not met. . so $1200.00 aint bad at all
  5. Ak-47.net has good info. . I have a preban Polytech AKS. . and have owned a Maadi ARM. . the only Maadi's that you need to stay away from are the MISR series. . the ARM's and RPK's are good to go. Having said that I agree with Urse. . a converted post ban Chinese import Norinco. . Polytech either one is 100% the best way to go. . last1isforme just sold exactly what the Dr. ordered in the classifieds. . I wish I had of bought that just for hell of it. . those have the 1.6 mm receivers. . heavier barrels. .better triggers. . better internals than any of their european counter parts. . just like my Pre ban Poly. Just racking the slide and feeling the difference between Euro single hook triggers and Chinese double hook triggers and you too will be hooked on chinese AK's
  6. Holy thread resurection batman. . .I canb honestly say I have never had a problem with any gun that Ive ever owned. . .
  7. I will have to agree with the yugo m67. . I love the stuff. . but when I shoot it left handed even my face gets nasty
  8. I can only speak to my personal experience. . my Maadi ARM was just fine. But let no one fool you all AK's are not the same. I didnt truly understand that until I got my Polytech AKS 7.62 Sidefolder. But getting a WASR 10 or a Saiga (and note I am not distinguishing between the two) is like going to a great resteraunt and getting a pack of crackers. .ie you might as well not have went. Good variant Maadis are still out there. . reasonably priced as well as some post ban chicoms. As far as a $300.00 AK performing the same as a $1000.00 that is not true. . just racking the slide on my polytech then a WASR or a Saiga leaves no doubt
  9. polytech parts atlanta ga will have what your looki for
  10. yes an sks would lend itself to being more accurate than an AK. .longer barrell etc... in most instances. . . my friend has a norinco type 56 sks with 20 in barrell that would group much tighter than my maadi arm at long distance (the maadi wasnt too shabby either). . I recently aquired a preban polytech AKS (heavier barrell and heavier reciever than my maadi) 16"barrell and it actually groups better than Alex's sks (although slightly). . So in short I guess the best answer would be a garden variety sks with 20" barrell would be more accurate than a garden variety AKM or clone. . but there will be exceptions. . .
  11. :pleased:IBaVol. . .your concern for me it heartwarming. . .as such I could not bear to burden on you at this time. . .
  12. I cant see myself abandoning my PC 9 for that thing. . it looks like a transformer. . . maybe it turns into an expresso machine or something. . .
  13. Just got back from Farnsworth. . sighted in the Meprolights. . .trigger is crisp and light. . no creep at all.. .feels like breaking a ruffles potato chip. . it was awesome. .didnt have to move a thing even after installing the sights . .was dead money at 25 yards. . tight grouping with yugo m70. . much tighter than my Maadi was and it wasnt bad. .I added up what I had in it after the trade and adding the Tru Glo's. . figuring every dime I had spent on the Maadi. . the boot and what I spent at Kengs (polytech parts). . .best $1000.00 I ever spent. . . hmm the sweet smell of Hopps #9. . .
  14. I thought the gun I was getting was the bakelite sidefolder with the cheek piece missing. .I get it and its actually a galil style. .in red. . checkered pistol grip. .here some actual pix the other was stock photo I put in till we met up and did the trade. . . I could help myself I had to put on a set Meprolight Trudots. . everthing elsi is factory. . even the compensator is from Polytech parts. . .polytech mags with chrome followers. .. its in damn fine shape. . .bore is pristine. . .I'm giddy as a school girl...
  15. Thanks mousegunner. . I feel very lucky to have found it. . my understanding only about 500 in this configuration where imprted from 1985 to 1989. . and no_masters i feel your sentiment. . I had jsut finished the conversion on my maadi got the optic i wanted on it and traded it a week later. . it was really hard but I coulnt pass the preban Poly up
  16. I did. . my maadi and a little boot
  17. Cool nice info thanks heres a pic of the gun. .it came with 3 polytech mags with chromed followers. . <a href="Pictures by turkeydad - Photobucket" target="_blank"><img src="http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae153/turkeydad/images.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
  18. Hey gang, Id never seen one of these before but I just traded for a preban Polytech side folder ak. . its a cs series. . got the oval 386 stamping. . has "POLY-TECH, BEIJING CHINA" on the side of receiver . . and has "IMPORTED BY K.F.S. ATLANTA""MADE IN CHINA on bottom. the gun is dressed in red. Pix to follow anybody know anything about these
  19. Thanks MK19 thts what I done. . .dead nut at 25yds. . .gonna see what we got at 100 when it warms up a little. . .
  20. Actually what I'm asking is how would you battle sight zero the optic considering its increased height off the barrel. . .
  21. I just got through making some mods to my Intrac imported Maadi ARM. . .cut the thumbhole to make a pistol grip. . sanded and refinished in a honey oak with just a little red tint in it. . put in a g2 trigger group and removed the thread cap and added an M4 style bird cage break (pix below). CCA in Ktown put on a removable side mount sleeve a long time ago for me (as Maadis never had the side mount) and it has an ATN Digital ULTRA SIGHT that I got a good deal on (the non digital models has some issues) but the Digital supposed to be pretty solid. . .ATN claims its Military grade. Well to the point. . gonna sight it in tomorow. . and I know with the irons at the home position a 25 yard "zero" has always been how I sighted an AK in. . but the sight picture is about 1.5' higher. . wouldnt that drastically change a 25 yad battlesight zero?
  22. Well when I clicked your link. . it said $19.95 for 50 with hornady bullets. . .could you have misread?. . .just now noticed the age of the original myself. . .holy resurrected threads batman. . .
  23. Yeah I decided to pass one of the locking nuts was gone. .Im gonna leave the red dot (tube) on it. . I had just heard that the digital ATN was military grade and had great battery life. . thanks for the input I like the BSA Stealth Tactical R/G/B sight thats on it. .just thinking of reducing weight on my Maadi
  24. not really interested i a red dot looking for a reflex I found some info looks like the ultrasightD model are pretty dog gone nice
  25. I was thinking of buying one of these for my AK just ran across one for $50.00 anyone know anything about these? its actually a Digital model
