My experience with handguns deal with revolvers. Many years ago I tried to wear out a S&w model 28. I went to the range two days a week with buckets of ammo. I fired it till the cylinder wouldn’t turn. Went home and cleaned it, then repeated the next day. Gave up. Good quality revolvers like S&W you will never wear out no matter the round count. If you know how to check one for wear and tear you will be good if the price is right. I’ll leave auto to others.

Don’t need another .45 but I’m a leftie and might be interested in the holsters if your buyer doesn’t want them. Bob

I agree with the above on reloading manuals…read, read, then read some more. As of right now “Midsouth Shooter Supply” has around 30 types of powder in stock and they ship. Keep an eye out in the usual places for used equipment and manuals. A couple of forums that could help are Reloading Equipment Only and No BS Reloading. If you were closer I could let you have some primers as you are a newbie.

If your just starting then a single stage is best. I’m useing RCBS rock chuckers for precision rounds,. Others have their favorites. I have been at this a long time and had an epiphany. It’s like you buy a $100 fishing rod, then a $20,000 boat to take it fishing. Primers are going to be your problem.

How much ammo do you need? Bob

I have a H&R model 999. It is a 9 shot .22 that will take anything in that caliper. It is a top break type with a 6” barrel. It has seen some rust on the barrel (not bad) due to improper storage, handgun bag with wool. Unfortunately shipping a pistol at today’s cost would be about 25% of the guns worth. Bob

I worked at a National Lab where we were working on a rail gun. The projectiles would burn up in earth’s atmosphere. It was part of the ‘Star Wars’ project and never happened.

Sending a dirty gas pulse into the breech has always been a bad idea IMO. Trying to clean them before turn in was an impossible task with what the army gave you to clean them. Give me my M-14 back and I’ll be happy. My M-14 and the M-60 gunner got along just fine as we shared ammo. We could reach out and touch while the M-16’s just sprayed.

You need one more position on the selector switch. Then it’s a bullet hose.

OK guys, I picked this up in a sale of an early carbine and a Jungle Carbine and have no use of it. 5.45x39 20 round boxes 340 rounds $0.35/round SOLD 7.62x39 20 round boxes with some loose 4000 rounds $0.32/round, ALL SOLD 223 20 round boxes 220 rounds $0.30/round, SOLD .308 boxes of 20 460 rounds $0.90/round 7.62x54R 440 spam can $0.55/round FTF in Knoxville if possible. I have not looked at it all but assume it to be steel cased and Russian stuff.

Thanks for all the responses. Price range…up to around $500.00. As far as ghost guns go, I don’t like the ATF sticking their nose in my business more than anyone else. But God forbid, if I was involved in a shooting with one, I think someone be it the police or a federal agency would step on my neck. This is off topic and I’m done.

My goodness, with the names these manufacturers give to their optics, one would think they were hypersonic missiles. I’m still looking as I’m a pilgrim at this and there are a lot of options. Years ago I had a Smith & Bender with a huge tube I picked up at Knob Creek.. I liked the post setup, but again I’m am an iron sight guy. The military like Aimpoint Pro Red Dot. Then there is the Vortex Optics Crossfire 1-4x24. Your options please.

Years ago I was building Hueys at CCAD. I and several other service members went into Mexico gift shopping. Upon returning carrying serval bags across the bridge, some sort of border patrol agent hollered out, “where are you from”, I replied “East by God Tennessee”. He then said come on, no Mexican can duplicate that accent. No iD check, bag inspection, nothing.

Sorry, but I don’t know the ‘lingo’, what does ‘ipvo’ mean? I have been looking at some of the suggestions and comments, lots of good and bad comments. Heck, what does the military use? This will be my one and done optic. Iron sights are bullet proof and with the weapons I own, I’ll dig them out if necessary(see my handle). Thanks for the replies and keep them coming.

I guess the optics would be for emptying mags at the range as my home defense weapon is a pre ban HK M1 super 90 entry gun.

My nephew just finished building a AR with an A3 upper, and NO it is not a ghost gun. I have never used anything but iron sights. Would anyone care to suggest an optics system that would go well with an AR?
