Just a thought on ammo and reloading supplies
Beltfed replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have read that primers and such are being used in production of loaded ammo. The ammo production companies can’t make fast enough to support demand. So we (reloaders) are on the short end of the stick. So if one didn’t stock up it is unfortunate, hopefully it will past -
Rebarrel model of 1917 around Knoxville?
Beltfed replied to Beltfed's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I want to rebarrel in .30-06. The CMP has several in stock. I’m unsure of the diameter, I’ll have to check if they list any specs. Also, it may be the bolt and wear on the locking surfaces. As you know, the receiver locking faces can’t be seen without removing the barrel. Well maybe if one has a bore scope. Unfortunately my bore scope is 9mm. Thanks for the great info. I’ll pm you for more info. -
Rebarrel model of 1917 around Knoxville?
Beltfed replied to Beltfed's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I’m a customer of CMP. I have yet to understand what it takes to send this rifle to them. I have emailed them with questions but have not had a response. -
I need a gunsmith around Knoxville to rebarrel a model of 1917 aka P17. Apparently it takes a dedicated wrench. Thanks for any and all help.

Issues....not sure how to classify it.

Can you borrow another rifle from a buddy, or take him shooting with the problem ammo? The primer in your pics looks good. No over pressure signs. The case on the other hand looks scratched up. The damage to the rim is likely the extractor tearing the rim in an effort to do its job. I would agree with the above, however you said you had ‘rounds’ stuck in the barrel. Do you mean bullets or casings? That is important. -
Not being prepared for this mess is a real bummer. It’s a wake up call for a lot of reloaders. I don’t go to the range as often as I use to, but I still reload. It gives me something to do while I sit on my backside at home. I understand that I’ll never shoot what I have piled up, but once all the great nephews and such get the contents of my vaults (U.S. military weapons) they will have plenty of fodder to feed the firearms. Too be honest, I enjoy reloading more than shooting.

My choice is my MP5K spray and pray. 30 rounds in under 2 seconds. Believe me, that will get their attention.

I have a bunch of .45’s from US property marked 1911 to 1911A1’s to Springfields and Rocks race guns. I purchased a Tisas .45 and 9mm. Wow, what a set of guns. Cheap but shoot great. I think they out perform the Norinco. Tight as Dicks hatband. I purchased these to see just how bad a Turkish gun could be. Boy was I surprised. Well, I would carry either one into a gun fight which I hope never happens.

In my home, I’m a revolver fan. Out on the road where I’m alert, it’s a auto.

If one has other persons sleeping in different rooms, then I would think very hard on what I would use in the case of the need to use firearms. Me…I would rather do some sheet rock and paint rather than burying one of my kids.

I agree with ReeferMac. I have a H&K M1 Super 90 with 9 rounds of 00 buck. Get by that and the place is yours. Short story: Years ago a guy took a .45 to a pawn shop. The owner was looking at it without clearing it. Pulled the trigger and bang. Round went through shop’s window, across a 4 lane highway, through the window of a Black & Decker sales office and killed a guy sitting at his desk. How I know, the poor guy bled all over the paperwork on his desk. They tossed the bloody stuff in the trash. My parts order was on his desk.

The M5 is thought by many to be the ‘Cadillac’ of beam scales.

I. Made my living doing electronics, instrumentation and process control. I use a beam scale. I take physics over strain gauges every time. Thanks

Where did all these reloaders come from? I go to my local range and a lot of guys ask if I reload. I say yes, and they give me their brass. I’m looking at my primers with price tags from $19 to $31 per 1000 bought years ago. We (reloaders) must be hoarding . If the “shtf”, how long can one hold out. Food, medical supplies, bad water, etc. will get us long before we run out of bullets.

Welcome neighbors! As the three stars on our state flag indicate, we have three distant regions in our state. If you like mountains, the only free fee National Park in the nation (Great Smokies Mountains), lakes, and of course Dollywood and Pigeon Forge for the kids, then it East Tennessee. Middle Tennessee is great also with the Nashville vibe and gentle rolling hills. West Tennessee is flat, hot in summer but then there is Memphis, bbq, and if you like to roll the dice it’s near.

Sir, you are wrong. I’ll admit, you have one ugly firearm. But the winner is the AUG, Austria Ugliest Gun.

Anybody seein any small pistol and small rifle primers..?
Beltfed replied to leroy's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Those of us that have more primers than they will ever need to loosen up. Heck, I was selling to Tennessee guys primers last winter for $40.00 a brick, any favor. Just donated a brick of 209 shot shells primers to a collage student trying for the Nationals. Come on guys, this is the Volunteer State. The more of us that have ammo, the lesser chance of someone ( foreign or domestic) taken away our gun rights. -
You might try “Reloading Equipment only! No components!”over on FB.

I was a geophysical well logging engineer for too many years. I set foot in more foreign places than I can remember. What did you do around the borehole? I always wanted but never got the tee shirt that said… We trip for days at a time. Our dope comes in five gallon buckets Our joints are 20 feet long. Our boss is a pusher. -
Huh, that’s where I got mine, and you can see you what I paid.
-
Here in Knoxville I paid $469.00 before tax for the .45, less for the 9mm. Word is getting out on these and price is creeping up.
-
I purchased the SDS pistols in both 9mm and .45ACP. Took them to range to break them in. Wow! They ran like butter. Not one failure to feed, stove pipe, or jam. For an inexpensive pistol, I’m impressed

Here ‘tis: JMS Gutter Jeremy Saunders (865) 414-8265 Jeremy09saunders@gmail.com Good luck. Bob

I put gutter guards on my house this year. Getting way to old to climb. Was having the gutters cleaned by a local guy in west Knoxville. He suggested gutter guards. I didn’t want to pay what the big companies get to do the install. He said he would do for a price I though was fair. He went to a building supply place and purchased the aluminum ones like some of the big boys use. He said to stay away from plastic as the sun would do them in. He also tied my gutters back in where they were loose. If you live west, I can if you he information if you wish.
