Is this a paid hunt alleycat72? If so, do you want to share the outfitter? The prospect of a non-resident going down for a couple days in TX and killing wild hogs on public land is laughably small. I've "hunted" high fence place before and they run the gamut but most aren't real challenging and it's expensive.

Shooting Locations for felons
ACfixer replied to Airgun Plinker's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
If you can own antique guns, and you can in Tennessee as of 2019, why not just buy a nice lever action build before 1900 and use that? I mean the .30-30 came about in 1895, so that's what I would be looking for. Not sure if the OP was a troll or not, but that's the kind of charge a good lawyer might get reduced. Sorry for your troubles OP, I am 59 years old and I occasionally have things I did when I was 18 haunt me. One time Canada didn't want to let me in there because I had a charge from when I was 17 years old for doing a burnout in a guy's parking lot, they called it vandalism and Canada takes that very seriously. -
She does, Susan Rice that is. That blubbering fool Xiden is in no way coherent enough to see anything through other than his metamucil.

I'm in the N/E Tri Cities area, the gun shows around here are stale! Is the Lebanon show worth the drive if for no other reason than to see some different guns and faces? Pretty good size show? Do they have any beef jerky and electro-pain stimulators?

SMGCA show in Knoxville this weekend 7/17-7/18
ACfixer replied to FUJIMO's topic in Events and Gatherings
Well you didn't miss anything at the Gray show at the fairgrounds Fujimo. Hoping for a little better at Knoxville Expo next month. Even half of the regulars were missing.... And yes, I wish there were none of those junk tables at any gun show. I get it for the promoter, they're selling tables, but how about have everything non-firearms in their own row. I don't need candied almonds or fried pickles... that crap is for the carnival. -
*** UPDATE *** Received my 03 FFL in the mail today. Thank you DaveTN for that suggestion, I now know exactly what the holdup was - the BS domestic charge my ex-filed and the DA dropped but the disposition didn't show up. A couple of back and forth letters, phone calls, and e-mails with the lady from the ATF and we got it all squared away. Now... curious as to what will happen when I buy a modern firearm. Another denial from TICS? I am going to send TBI/TICS a copy of all my paperwork, not sure if that matter or if it will help, but in any event any denials should be quickly overturned I would think. Much thanks to everyone who had helped and supported through this mess!

Just another quick update. Just got off the phone with the ATF and she was unable to find a disposition for a battery charge and I think together we were able to locate it and I e-mailed her the info. She sounded optimistic that the 003 C&R would be approved, I am still unsure how to keep this from happening with TBI/TICS in the future but at the very least I know what the hangup is and any denial would be overturned. I'm not aware of how I would update whatever record it is to reflect the info from the CA DOJ that shows prosecution was declined.

It's all good my man. We're local to each other I think, let's go do some shooting some time. I joined Unaka Rod and Gun club, ever shoot there? I haven't yet...
-
With all respect Raoul, you kind of got into me twice about my history and things biting me in the backside etc. I haven't done anything that should prevent me from buying a gun, then or ever... I'm just trying to work through this and also trying to help others that have been or may go through the same things. I'm your neighbor and a fellow 2A supporter and the kind of neighbor I think most people like us like to have. I don't really need a lecture about a misdemeanor case that happened 33 years ago. If I took it wrong please accept my apologies. Thank you.

Welcome neighbor.

Glad to hear it Don, hopefully you can get to the bottom of what is causing this. Most everyone here has been super helpful in my journey and one of the suggestions was to pay $30 to the AFT and apply for an 03 C&R license and they'll weed out what the holdup is. It looks like mine was a battery arrest from a charge falsely made by an ex-wife that they dropped but the court failed to file the dismissal. I just received mail and info from the CA DOJ that looks like should clear mine up, my new paperwork shows that the disposition was that the prosecution denied further action on it. I'll send this to the nice lady from the ATF, and also a copy to TBI and hopefully that will be the end of this nonsense.

What the hell is the matter with you?

Just an update on the ongoing saga. The ATF called me back after I mailed everything that San Bernardino County sent me, evidently it's not enough as it doesn't address actual the actual charges listed? The charges listed were either dropped or plead down to some minor stuff and so it show's a different charge I guess. I've sent fingerprints and a request for a full background check from the CA DOJ and I asked the representative from the ATF to please keep the file open until we hear back from them. This is way out of my wheelhouse, but I'll keep after it and update when I can.

I thought they only had 14 days to figure it out?
-
I'll look into that tnhawk, thank you. Now that I know exactly what's apparently bothering them, I'm not worried about getting denied without it being overturned really, I'd just like to get it cleared up. What was the cause of your initial denials? I was thinking the UPIN was for those with common names and such and that being the problem. My name isn't that common, and since I know that's not the issue here I'm not sure the UPIN would help, but it can't hurt right?

I think I have been really forthcoming about indiscretions of my youth Raoul, and if you can show me where I said it surprises me that it "bites me in the ass" I'll thank you and correct it. I was surprised at the denial because I have legally purchased dozens of firearms through FFL's (in California) over the last three decades, so I think all of a sudden getting denied in a free state would surprise you too. But I am NOT a prohibited person and have never committed a crime that would prohibit me from owning a firearm, and in fact paid for my lesser violations with plenty of money and even a little jail time. You know, my debt to society. TN is not "affording me" anything at this point, I have a right guaranteed by US constitutional amendment number two, and a right delayed is a right denied. I appreciated the freedoms in this state, that's why I moved here... I'm not blaming them for anything here, but it's a mistake I need to get cleared up. Thank you.
-
Not sure, but it seems to be more prevalent with TN I am learning. Frustrating because for all the good that in Tennessee, well, this isn't good. In my case I hate to blame them because it's due to stupid #### I did when I was young, but it would be nice to clear this up once and for all because I am not a prohibited person. Anyway, as was suggested to me on this forum, perhaps download the application for a C&R 003 FFL and pay the $30, you'll most likely get an answer within a couple weeks at to what is causing this and you can work on clearing it up. There are a few cases of this happening documented here and the folks have been really helpful in my journey to clear it up. In my case I now know the reason and it will be overturned every time I am denied... and since I am from California I'm used to waiting two weeks for every gun anyway! But yeah, still sucks. Hang around, work on it, ask the good people here about it and we'll get through this.

Sorry to hear of your troubles Don, that's really frustrating. I'll bet in your case perhaps a common name, it seems the only other thing that causes this is an arrest and for some reason the case is never disposed of properly in the records dept. Here's an update on mine... I applied for a C&R as suggested here (thank you Dave) and received a letter back from the ATF saying there were a couple issues from 1988 and 1989 that had "no disposition" on record. They listed the date of arrest, the jurisdiction and the charges. I contacted the San Bernardino County Courts in SoCal and got beck a prompt accounting of everything they have on record, nothing disqualifying of course, but also a letter saying they could not help me any any further as they are only required to keep misdemeanor stuff ten years and I would have to contact the CA DOJ for more info and they may have it. I have nothing to hide, it was in another life... but let's be clear, life choices have consequences and this is MY fault. Yes, someone in record keeping dropped the ball, but it was me doing something stupid in the first place that threw out the first pitch and got the game going. The charges were dismissed or plead to a minor misdemeanor, but the fact remains, life choices stick with you. Here I am at age 59 dealing with something stupid I did at age 28. I am going to send everything San Bernardino sent me to the ATF (after making copies and scans of course) and I will also send copies of all that to TICS/TBI just for the hell of it and then contact the CA DOJ this week and see what I can dig up. Stay tuned.

Not necessarily. It makes it well known to the feds that we are in an area that does NOT approve or want gun control. That makes us a hard target instead of an easy one. Look, I came from California, home of MILLIONS of illegal aliens living off the government tit. Totally flaunts fed law and the feds did nothing about it. The times the feds raided tuna factories and almond fields they got the cold shoulder and zero help from the local LEO agencies. The state filed lawsuits against the feds and tied it up in court. Also look at the pot thing. Totally illegal by fed law, but CA (and other states) allow it to flourish and the feds do nothing about it. I'm not saying that local LEO's would physically be able to stop the feds from doing whatever, but the feds don't have the resources to go door to door and prosecute everyone with an AR or an ammo can full of P-mags. If Tennessee refuses to prosecute, then who will?

Welcome from a (shudder) SoCal ex-pat and now Tennessee resident. Make it happen OP, whatever it takes... it's worth it.
-
Cool thanks, and in turn I'll let you in on a secret. If I was a single issue voter Trump wouldn't be my guy, he isn't any great friend of the 2A enthusiast.
-
Fresh from California here, you sir are wrong. They will attempt to chisel, hammer, poke, scrape, and eventually demolish your gun rights ASAP.
-
I was delayed once in CA for a couple days, no explanation but they cleared it pretty quickly. I hear that can happen for all kinds of reasons. Other than that I bought dozens of guns there, other than the ridiculous ten day waiting period it always went smoothly there.
