Nice deer, and I hope the kidney disease is under control. Personally, I prefer to take a doe over a buck every time. The meat's better, in my opinion. I'm originally a west-coaster, and I still have to chuckle at calling a three-pointer a six-point!

I saw some large pistol primers listed there yesterday for $100. Turns out that was for 500. Definitely in the Gun Broker range. I reckon a fellow can ask whatever he wishes for things he's selling, but I'm having a tough time with some of these prices. Thank goodness that it appears that powder is slowing coming back on the market. I see various powders for sale on the Hodgdon site from time to time, and Powder Valley gets some in, too. Any primers I see are stupidly expensive, though.

I'll bet this ended badly....

I get what you're saying, but some of us have a really tough time on the phone. My hearing is long gone and I struggle with ftf conversation and struggle mightily on the phone. Email is my best bet at clear communication.

Me too. The booster made me every bit as unwell as the second shot did, but added a very sore arm that I didn't experience with the first two. I wonder how long until booster-2 is required. One of my old Marine Corps buddies took the J&J vaccine and still got Covid. He had to have the infusion treatment. Fortunately he's doing fine now.

Consider a Better Business Bureau complaint. You can do that right now. I filed one against an HVAC contractor who was refusing to respond to my calls and after the BBB contacted him he responded immediately. I don't think the BBB has any legal teeth at all, but at this point the more you can pressure Mr. Brasher, the better.

I have a 40 year-old Ivar Johnson .25 ACP that's absolutely worthless for anything. Not enough power to punch through a wet paper bag. I just have a difficult time selling anything, and it only takes up a wee bit of safe space, so what the heck.

Two year old shoots herself with unsecured handgun.
Darrell replied to Darrell's topic in General Chat
I'm no lawyer, but in my mind the criminal negligence is leaving a loaded, and probably cocked, gun unlocked AND letting a kid get to it. I have a loaded, unlocked handgun where I can easily reach it, but there are no kids in my house. If I were going to have a kid in the house, I'd put the gun away. Something to consider is how likely is it that a two year old could cock a weapon, could pull the trigger on an un-cocked double-action handgun, or could manipulate the safety of a cocked and loaded semi-automatic. And as Grunt so rightly mentioned, this kind of thing happens far too often. This from a quick on-line search: Criminal negligence is conduct where a person ignores an obvious risk or disregards the life and safety of those around him. Both federal and state courts describe this behavior as a form of recklessness. The negligent person acts significantly different than most people would under similar circumstances. An unfortunate example of this is a parent or guardian leaving a loaded firearm where a small child can get it. -
There is NO excuse for this kind of thing....... Matthew Daniel Jenkins is charged with criminally negligent homicide after his 2 year old daughter was shot and killed early Monday Morning. Around 12:45 a.m. on Monday, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported gunshot at a residence on Hancock Road NE. Upon arrival, the mother advised her two-year-old child had suffered an accidental gunshot wound. The child was immediately transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest and later passed away. The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division detectives responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation. It was then discovered that the firearm had been left unsecured and the child was able to gain access to it. The girls mother told investigators she was in the kitchen fixing a snack when she heard a gunshot, and headed in the direction of where she heard it. As she got to a hallway, she saw her husband walking out of their bedroom “with their daughter and a handgun in his hand.” She told investigators her husband told her to call 911, and he carried her to the front porch where he performed CPR until first responders arrived and took over. The mother told investigators “the gun was in its original container in their master bedroom,” and that it was “not in a locked container of any kind.” After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, the father, Matthew Daniel Jenkins, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.

I read an article this morning that says that Ireland is among the nations with the highest vaccination rate AND the highest hospitalization rate. I got both shots, and am considering the booster, but I'm also convinced that there's something more to this that we're not being told, and it ticks me off.

.40 Percussion Kentucky Rifle Advice
Darrell replied to DesertRanger's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
It seems unlikely that it would have a charge loaded, but you can find out pretty easily. There's a tool for extracting a ball from the barrel, something like a corkscrew. You put that on your [modern threaded] ramrod and screw it into the ball then pull the ball out. You should also be able to use the ramrod as an indicator. Put it down the bore, mark the muzzle on the ramrod, and then see how far the down the barrel that reaches. I have a muzzle loader that belonged to my grandfather when he was a youngun. It appears to be in good condition and I think it would stand up to firing, but I'm not gonna do it. -
I laughed aloud when the gunner was asked how he could shoot women and children, and he answered, "just don't lead them as much". People turned and looked at me, but THAT was pretty much the kind of Marine Corps humor we laughed about every day. The boot camp portrayal was as close as any I've ever seen. EXCEPT that we had three DI's screaming at us most of the time rather than just one.

One of the guys who used to work for me saw Ermey at a show in Vegas and brought me an autographed picture. I'm not one who cares a whit about autographs, but that one is on my bookshelf. His portrayal of a DI in "Full Metal Jacket" was pretty much spot on of my DI, Sgt. Parker, back in 74.

I wouldn't be surprised if he finds someone to sue. -

Not enough information out there yet. I despise anti-gun Baldwin, but don't want to jump to conclusions. The stories I've read make it sound like two people were hit from one discharge. I think most of us are assuming the discharge was from a handgun, but if it were a shotgun then two victims seems more likely. I'll be interested in learning more. Edit an hour later: A news article says that Baldwin was handed the prop gun, and a single round passed through a woman who was killed and struck a man who was not killed. This begs the question of why there was any live ammunition on a movie set. I suppose a long investigation will follow. -
Sounds pretty familiar, Willy. Welcome to the forum!

Found some powder at Outdoor Junction in Cookeville today
Darrell replied to Darrell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
$34 a pound for the MagPro, which is suggested retail. I didn't see anything in the powder section that was outrageous. -
Coincidentally, I saw a truck pulling a flatbed trailer with a helicopter on it this morning between Crossville and Cookeville. The heli was wrapped with blue plastic, but the semi behind it had a Sikorsky logo on the side of the trailer and the trailer had a retractable radome on the back. I think that second trailer was some kind of mobile test facility, though why Sikorsky would need to test remotely is a puzzle. Unfortunately the trucks didn't get off at my ramp so I couldn't poke around to see under there, but it was still interesting and reminded me of this string.

I had to drive to Cookeville this morning, and any time I go through there I stop at Outdoor Junction. Was looking for some scope lens caps, which I didn't find, but they had a pretty good selection of powder and projectiles today. No primers, though. I've been looking for H1000 for loading 338 ammo for some time. They had several pound containers of Accurate Magpro. I've not used it before, but took a risk and bought two pounds to try out. There were quite a few of the RX powders on the shelf along with some of the Hodgdon powders. I didn't try to note everything there, but they had LilGun among others. Quite a bit of projectiles, too, including some too-expensive Barnes bullets.

Of course that's just about the only way for 99.9% of the members to hear about the NRA, including the NRA pubs. I find it telling that the NRA itself barely addressed the issue. Cox just disappeared and I never saw a word about it in American Hunter. LaPierre made some admissions in court about a boat trip to Bermuda, I think, but I don't feel like looking that up right now. The business about the expensive suits was admitted, too, as some spokesman said that WLP had to look good because of his frequent public appearances. So yeah, the left-wing media has it out for we NRA members, but there certainly have been some shady dealings and a serious lack of transparency from the organization.

Yeah, I've used that , but would really like to get a good rest. Thanks for the suggestion!
