I read this morning that NY's new handgun bill requires CCP applicants to turn over all social media accounts for evaluation. I suppose that TGN counts as social media, and I wonder how the NY evaluators would look at comments that people make on a similar forum. My guess is that more law suits are coming soon.

I could use some advice. Yep. I'm a newbie.

And just to show that you can get every opinion across the range when you ask a question on the internet, I'll chime in that scooping works just fine so long as you use a consistent method. I use an electronic scale when I'm loading up varying load to test for accuracy, but for bulk reloading a scoop is fine. In fact, drop-style powder measures are just giving you a load based on volume, just as a scoop does. BUT, I wouldn't use multiple scoops unless you don't have an option. Lee sells a set of powder dippers pretty cheap. And every Lee die set comes with a dipper and load data. Stay simple while you're learning, follow the loading manuals, and stay on the safe side of the loads you choose. -
Senators reach a bipartisan deal on gun safety legislation

There are, of course, always exceptions. I'd mention Cliven Bundy, as well. But my point remains generally true. -
Senators reach a bipartisan deal on gun safety legislation

I woke up this morning to several news stories about all the protests, threats, etc. over the Dobbs decision. Isn't it interesting that conservatives address ourselves to our representatives and in the ballot box, but that liberals take it to the street? I read that in Seattle one pro-life woman was attacked, knocked to the ground, and pepper-sprayed. Sad stuff. -

I read today that several anti-gun democrats are saying that this legislation "opens the door" for more gun control. I think the SOTUS decision today probably pushes that door closed. -
Lake City ammo too dangerous for civilians
Darrell replied to 1fast4by's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
As if ammo isn't already too expensive. Some elbow that wants to shoot up a school isn't going to care if the ammo is a bit more expensive, they'll never pay that credit card bill anyway. But it will certainly have an effect on those who like to put a bunch of rounds downrange. FJB indeed! -
I spent my career in Naval nuclear propulsion, and I can tell you that nuclear power generation requires fully-proven technology, and you aren't likely to see cutting edge tech on a nuclear power plant. The Navy is very deliberate about upgrading the instrumentation of its power plants. They DO upgrade the tech, but it's probably a generation or two behind other systems, and with very good reason. I imagine that civilian nuclear power generation follows similar upgrade protocols.

Boresight users: chamber boresight vs universal.
Darrell replied to scatman's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have a universal bore site set, and I use it fairly often but am not totally sold on it. Sometimes the rod that fits down the bore can rotate a bit. If your rifle has a flash suppressor or muzzle brake the rod may not be quite long enough. With bolt action rifles I usually just use a true bore-sight; taking out the bolt, looking down the bore, and adjusting the scope. -

The gun control crowd has been up-front that their current strategy is "incremental change". Meaning exactly what Chucktshoes said, they'll take a nibble here and a bite there, but they'll never, ever give an inch. -
I'm still a fan of the 30-06. I shoot a 338 Lapua, too, but for an all arounder capable of doing most anything, the 06 can't be beat.

I am not minimizing the horror of school children being shot by madmen, but I saw an interesting statistic this morning. According to what I read, there are about 54 Million kids in grades K-12 every year in this country. Over the past 29 years that have been 170 kids killed in school shootings. There shouldn't be any, of course. Draw your own conclusions from the numbers...

Here's how I see it: No matter what or how many gun control laws are passed, it will never be enough for the left. Pass a law banning all AR-style rifles and the shooters will go to what most murderers use, a pistol. Then the next ban will be against pistols. Gun control advocates have been clear that they are taking an incremental approach, seeking to take away what they can this time, and chisel another little piece away later. They expect to eventually get everything they want that way. I think there are already enough restrictions on gun use, and am in favor of prosecution of everyone who violates the existing laws. I think that anyone who lies on a 4473 as Hunter Biden did, should go to jail and be prohibited from future purchases. Use a gun in a crime, go to prison for a long time. Shoot up a school, burning at the stake sounds about right to me. I would probably be in favor of raising the age to purchase a firearm to 21, but then I would favor raising the age to vote to 21 as well. And maybe even to drive. Whatever age is determined to be "adult" should apply across the board, not willy nilly.

Really? You honestly think people on this forum are pretending that these shootings didn't occur? I don't think there's anything, practically speaking, by way of gun control that's going to prevent a motivated murderer from committing one of these horrible crimes. Restricting good people, who aren't going to commit a crime anyway, isn't going to help when some deranged elbow decides to go off like this.

I didn't verify this is true, but it looks right to me!

My taste runs to pocket-watches, as I can't tolerate rings or bracelets. I learned at a young age that it's pretty easy to take one apart, but a bit more challenging to put it together again.

Seems that I recall the Biden administration takin a big bow over fuel prices dropping two cents a gallon several months ago. If they wanted the credit for that. then they get the blame for the current skyrocketing prices.

Please don't throw it in a river or a lake. We already have too much pollution in our waterways.

I took a short ride yesterday after playing racquetball. I rarely ride with anyone else, but one of my racquetball buddies wanted to take a ride, so we did. There was more traffic than I expected, but we were still able to get in some spirited riding through the twisties. Good times

Just click on the user name. In your case I clicked on the "S" and it took me to your profile. Once there you can see a "trader feedback" rating. Click on that, and it will give you details of a user's feedback, and you'll see a tab to add feedback. It's not as intuitive as some sites, but I've managed to muddle through it, so you can.

That's a pretty good point, and it becomes amplified when the government CHOOSES to ignore it's own laws. People aren't prosecuted for shoplifting, the borders aren't protected, etc. Some parents choose to defend their children when the children do wrong. There are communities in which 80% of children are born to single mothers. Moral decline, indeed.
