I'm not usually a Georgia fan, but they start out their season against the filthy Ducks of Oregon. I'm hoping that GA routes the zeros. My favorite teams are the UW Huskies and whomever is playing the Yucks. Go Huskies! (Maybe a bit of wishful thinking this year.)

I've got a modern Pedersoli Kentucky rifle in .32 that I've not fired for a few years. I decided I'm going to hunt deer with it this fall, so I got it out and put a dozen rounds through it this afternoon. What a hoot! I'd forgotten both what fun and what a PITA the rifle can be! I store my BP arms with a liberal coating of Thompson's Bore Butter, and apparently I didn't get all of it out when I swabbed the barrel before taking the rifle out to shoot. The first attempt was the proverbial flash in the pan, and a couple of reattempts failed, too. So back to the barn and 20 minutes of cleaning the flash hole and blowing the grease out with high-pressure air. Then I packed as much 4F into the flash hole as I could, and then tried again. Kaboom. But what a pain! It was my error, or course, and one I'll try not to repeat. The rifle is accurate, but it's also really dirty. I have to alternate a dry swab and a solvent swab after every shot. And it took near an hour to clean the son of a gun when I was done. But I'm going to do it again soon. I could cut down the fouling by switching to Pyrodex, but I like black powder enough to make it worth the extra effort.

Not a picture, but kind of fun..... While sitting, raise your right leg, Move your foot continuously in a clockwise circle. Now, while your foot is still circling, raise your right arm. Draw a number 6 in the air with your right hand without reversing the direction that your foot is circling. Betcha can't do it!

I rode from my home in Hebbertsburg to Murfreesboro via Hwy 70 this morning. The forecast said that it was likely to be a dry ride there, but that I'd be pushing my luck on the way home. Sure enough, midway between Sparta and Crossville the sky opened up on me and I was pretty darned wet within a minute or two. It was warm, though, so not too uncomfortable. I had all my rain gear with me, but I never had time to put it on! Oh well, the ride was still fun, about two hours in each direction.

I have a Ruger Precision Rifle in ,308 (along with a couple of others in different calibers) that I really like. They aren't short-barreled, though, and a bit more expensive. It looks as if you've already checked out the Rugers, but if you were tempted by the RPR's it might be worth a second look.

I may be the last American who doesn't carry a phone around with me. When I hunt or fish, I try to forget there IS any civilization. I suppose I'll carry one if there's no alternative, but I'm happier just carrying a paper license and tags.

I moved to TN from WA about three years ago, and I intend to hunt here for the first time this fall. I picked up a copy of the TN hunting regs, but I'm not 100% sure I understand everything. I'm 65, so it appears that I can buy a permanent hunting and fishing license for $49. I expect to hunt deer right on my own land, or maybe on a neighbor's. It looks to me like this will be the only license or permit I need to kill a deer on my own acreage. Is that right? I might like to kill a squirrel or two, too. I share a property line with the Catoosa WMA, and I might want to hunt on that land, too, or at least to use it for non-hunting recreation, specifically I'd like to ride my bicycle out there. It looks like I need to buy a WMA license to be able to do that, right? I was thinking to just buy a type 93 license for $20, just to be able to ride my bike out there even if I'm not hunting. Any insight on that? And the regs say that bicycle access is allowed only through gate access points. I can ride my bike right off my property onto the Catoosa, but the nearest gated access is miles away. If a guy is just "scouting", with no weapon, would that gated access rule apply? Finally, I see NOTHING at all about transport tags, except that tags are required. Does another fee apply for tags? Thanks, guys.

Go back to your physician. The guys here seem to know a lot about firearms related stuff, but I wouldn't go to us for medical advice.

Does this seem familiar to anyone else? VID-20220604-WA0062 (1).mp4

Or at least claim to be.

I had a friend at work who was a Doctor of Divinity. He preached on Sunday and worked a regular job during the week. I always made of point of calling him "Doctor" once or twice a day, and he always took it as I intended, in a good humor. The MSM made quite a point of calling FLOTUS "Dr" during the runup to the election. I assumed just wanted they wanted me to assume for quite some time, that she was a medical doctor. I suspect that Jill Biden probably never made a big deal of her doctorate until it became politically expedient to do so, but I blame the MSM for it's failure to be clear from the get-go.

I've been risking it a lot these past few weeks. If the forecast says there's a 50% chance of rain I figure the forecaster is just flipping a coin, and I ride anyway. Heck, I've been wet before.... But I must say that when it rains around here it often comes down in buckets.

Have you ridden the bike the way it's set up and with a full load in the bags? You should know pretty quickly whether or not you're comfortable with it. I'd be VERY concerned about having that weight out back, as it effectively unloads your front tire. If you were to hit a bump in a corner you might find yourself dealing with serious understeer or a wheelie. I'm pretty sure I'd grind that low side bag away in half an hour, too. But again, it's mainly a matter of whether or not you feel comfortable and confident.

Do the various TN counties print a voters' guide? I moved here a few years ago from WA, and one of the few things I miss is getting a pamphlet in the mail at election time in which the candidates offered up a statement and people pro and con of ballot issues were able to offer up statements. Being pretty new here I really don't know much about the various local candidates, and it would be nice to have some information to go by.

Amazing that there's a restriction to a single box. But at least some are available.

We did a variation called "bailing out". You get as high as you can, then flip your feet up over your head and (hopefully) land on your feet below the swing. No broken bones that I recall, and lordie! we did it without helmets and elbow or knee pads.

I've always been a fan of the big GS bikes, but I've never pulled the trigger on one. A lot of guys ride those on genuinely off-road rides, but if I had one I'd stick to nothing tougher than a fire road, I think. Glad you had a good trip!

Thanks. I wanted to buy the HF 1-ton stand, but they're out of stock anywhere near me. I sure don't need that much capacity for the Z engine, but I also have an F250 with a diesel, and you never know....

I'm looking for something a LOT less expensive, but thanks.
