  1. Wow, that just came out of the blue, huh? Good on ya for stopping, not everyone would have.
  2. I used to work for the Navy in close proximity to warships, including ballistic missile subs, and special weapons. I always told my wife that in the event of a nuclear war, I hope we were both standing under the first burst. I'm fairly certain that I would not want to survive that kind of cataclysm. I noticed something interesting about the Japanese during the Fukajima disaster, though. There were a lot of victims of that situation, but unlike Americans would have been, they were very orderly. When relief supplies arrived the Japanese queued up and waited their turns. Perhaps their society has a better chance of surviving a huge disaster than does ours.
  3. What brand and model camera do you have? I've been thinking about buying one just for the reasons you imply. I only drive a couple days a week, but it seems I encounter oncoming traffic in my lane about every other trip.
  4. One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you ' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door. Then a Congress man came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill , the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Congress man was very happy and left the shop The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congress men lined up waiting for a free haircut.
  5. Woo Wee! You must be the King of Compensation. I like the 223, but I don't think I could hit anything but dirt out at 1000 yards.
  6. SO tempting. I have two Old Army revolvers, both blued, though. They're good shooters and well-made, as one always expects of Ruger. I'm sure I'd keep this one unfired. Someone please buy this before I weaken!
  7. Of course you can do as you wish, but there are plenty of good reasons to maintain your membership here apart from selling. I hope you'll reconsider and give the site a bit more time. It's really a good resource with some good folks.
  8. That's actually a pretty good price on a scope that Optics Planet sells new for over $500 plus tax. But as Red333 says, money can be tight with high inflation and an unsettled economy. I'd be interested in this scope had I not just spent a butt-load of money on new tires and wheels.
  9. Bugs in your teeth and mud up your back... does it get any better than that?
  10. I have one of these and love it. A great rifle for deer, elk, pig, bear and squirrels.
  11. I have no experience with a Glock 20, but the factory does not recommend lead bullets for the Glocks I own. This is due, as I understand it, to Glock's use of polygonal rifling in their barrels. I've shot lead bullets through my Glock 45 and 9mm with no ill-effect, though.
  12. Harbor Freight sells a small bench-top cabinet. I have their floor-standing model, and with a few mods it works great for my purposes, which is primarily auto and motorcycle work. I'd be happy to let you use my cabinet, but it's much too far from your location. If you're coming through, though.......
  13. Both are just delivery systems for oil and salt.
  14. Something similar happened to me years ago. I was driving home at night after work when a spotted owl (in Washington) hit the lumber rack on my pickup and ended up dead in the bed. I wanted to have it mounted, but no taxidermist would touch it, of course.
  15. I paid about twenty bucks for a tool kit for watches. It includes a wrench for opening the back, and it worked fine on a Fossil and a Seiko watch. You can find them on eBay.
  16. 18 months to two years. Can't you get the back off and replace the battery yourself?
  17. Oregon put up a LOT of points all season long, but only scored one field goal against UGA in the first game of the season. That defense is solid. Much as it pains me to say so, I now think that Alabama would have done better in the CFP than TCU , Michigan, or OSU. I'm no Alabama fan, but I think they would have played a lot closer to UGA. I'm very pleased that my Washington Huskies finished the year 11-2 with a final ranking of 8. That's the best season they've had since 2016.
  18. When I bought my property here and started building several neighbors stopped by and asked if I was going to have the house inspected. The question surprised me, as I couldn't imagine NOT having it inspected. But since I've lived here a few years I've found out that there are a lot of houses in the rural areas of TN that were not subject to building codes and inspections, excepting plumbing, electrical, and septic, and I'm sure some people found a way around those things as well. I was not required to submit plans in order to get a building permit, and no permit at all was required for my barn or a detached garage. I am one who prefers minimum government involvement in my personal life, but something like a house is going to be sold eventually, and the purchaser should be able to trust that it was originally built to meet certain standards.
  19. I tried one of those ductless dryer things, and it sucked. It's supposed to trap the lint in water, but it probably catches less than half. One possible alternative would be to run a duct beneath your existing basement ceiling. You could paint it to match, or box it in inside a fake beam. I think that cutting open the ceiling is the best choice, but there are always alternatives. Any heat and air outfit should be willing to go to your house and offer up a solution and an estimate. Be sure to look up the ducting requirements for your dryer. There's a maximum length of run, and turns have to be included in the calculation. The original installer should be held responsible, but that's pie in the sky. Good luck!
  20. Anyone have a recommendation for a place that can clean my old Seiko Sports 100? It's been in my desk drawer for years and today I put new batteries in it. It seems to run fine, but the buttons are bit sticky. I'm near Crossville, so would prefer a place near here.
  21. In 2016 (wow, six years ago already) my favorite Washington Huskies won the Pac12 and earned a trip to the CFP, and the TV broadcast showed some coed holding up a sign reading, "We Want 'Bama!" Well, they got 'em and it didn't go as well as that young lady might have hoped.
  22. That was a BIG win for TCU! I thought Michigan had a legitimate chance to win the championship. It's great to see a smaller school move up.
  23. Looking for a 9mm case gage. Thought I'd see if someone has one sitting unused before buying new. Thanks
