Older sisters maybe. Check the median age on here. there's a topic on here somewhere regarding that. With some of y'all, it'd be wives.

that's scary stuff. God bless. I'm right with y'all having multiple surgeries, not fun at all. The only upside is my family gets lots of laughs while I'm medicated. yeah, the plates and screws know when the weather is turning bad.

hello. right around the corner here outside Shelbyville. welcome aboard.

Welcome, and damn, another E Tennessean? They have all the good deals over there.

Welcome. Hope you enjoy it here.

Everything I own has been fired. I have two new-to-me that I have yet to get to the range, but they've been shot. Some guys are collectors of history or art when it comes to guns, no desire to shoot them. I believe it. Just like the reference to collector cars, some are bought for investment. If you bought a rare gold coin would you carry it in your pocket? As far as believing what is posted, I trust but verify. None of my dealings with TGO members gives me reason to distrust. If you don't trust the seller or believe the worth of the item, just move on. @Tom B damn, shoot that thang! I'd love to get hold of a 97B! Had an EAA witness .45 years back, loved it and think the CZ might be better. My one exception might be a vintage royal blue python, those are just SO pretty. But I don't have vintage Python money so the glass front velvet lined case will just be for someone else.

I do have to plug in the light on my nightstand pistol occasionally

I'm a bit of both. I still have an officer's size steel .45 in rotation. I Still use my P32 for pocket carry. I do have a Kimber Micro9 but that's not a new design. OH! I do have a striker fired polymer framed 45 but it probably will never be an EDC since I hate the trigger. truth is, I don't care for the new designs.

Just ran across this on marketplace. would fit this role well. Marketplace - Auto Assist Handles | Facebook

tire billy's and hitch ball wrenches have a good heft and length. I have had worn down camshafts and large pipe wrenches at times. As long as it is something I would normally have use for I feel fine. Though I do not keep anything in the car now. Rather not have someone that close to me.

I applaud your efforts. We all need to push our reps to take care of our children when they aren't in parental reach. I'm happy that mine are all grown, the stress now is too much for me.

Stashing Loaded Handguns/Long Guns
papa61 replied to pop pop's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
When the grandkids come, I lock all but my EDC up. Otherwise there are loaded pistols all over the house, one on my nightstand, one in the master bath, one in my office. Mossberg in the bedroom closet, AR in the display cabinet with full mag next to it. As I get diversion stashes there will be more. John Wick? Nope, I'm not that quick! I like the magnetic lock shelves and boxes. I looked at concealment furniture but it is quite pricy. I met a couple from KY who make concealment frames at the last gun show I attended. I plan to have one made for a painting one of my daughters did for us. BTW plans are available on ETSY for any of you woodworkers or cabinet makers. (hint hint) I have a cousin who used to live in a cabin out in the woods. He kept a 38 snub on a nail above the front door. Until we moved here, the Mossberg was on rubber coated hooks inside the closet over the top of the door. No one casually looking in there would ever see it. A pistol magnet on the back of the headboard is good too. If there are kids in the house, firearms MUST be secured. My children were all taught well and knew not to touch but there's one in every crowd. I count my blessings and keep the lingerie chest with a hole in the drawer front as a reminder of that. The "one" was quite good at defeating pass locks on doors, climbing, slipping into places and things. I was fortunate, no one was hurt, be vigilant and anal about securing arms around children. After the chest incident, everything was locked in gun storage except my EDC which was always within arms reach. I could tell more of "the One" getting into locked storage but no reason. Suffice it to say I had to step up security several times. -
Dammitall! I started looking again today,,,have to put my mind to saving again. Have y'all seen the Taylor's & Co. takedown in 45-70? Case colored receiver, peep sights, carbine length, threaded oh my!

To be fair, I understand their wanting to make sure I have what I say I have but I offered to send a picture and explained it was a used import. just send what I asked for. Stupid people have ruined life for the rest of us.
-
I bought a used import with the importer applied SN. Taurus wouldn't send me a pin because they didn't recognize the serial number. That's my one and only issue ever with Taurus and it was recent. I've heard other horror stories. I'm just glad to have not had any other issues with Taurus product since I have a few.

I don't drink coffee, never have. But I drink a LOT of soda. I did the calculations and I do not get that many miles pre gallon. Not even close. But it's still funny.

I have n older JM Marlin. The action on mine is quite smooth. But I don't doubt your experience. I would have to have one in my hands to know how the action would be. That could be a problem in any case. I tend to worry less about the action and more about the trigger. Actions can be easily slicked up. BTW, my Marlin probably needs cleaned and re-lubed now as I haven't used it in quite some time. All that aside, I would be quite comfortable buying a new Rossi. their reputation is quite good at this time.
-
In that case, Rossi would be my choice simply for the looks. Henry makes great rifles, I just don't want one,,,yet
-
I have to agree. I think they are the next new thing that will pass. I do like the Marlin Dark but not enough to shell out what they are bringing. Just as a point of contention, I have not seen a commercial 30-30 in sub-sonic and wouldn't want to download far enough to get there so even suppressed it's going to be loud. I've seen vids of suppressed 45-70 and it doesn't make a great deal of difference. Lastly, isn't the Mossberg 30-30 threaded?

I was unaware of TNARMS15. Just looked at their stuff and I do like the carbon fiber lower. I may just go that route. As far as cost goes, that is not why I would choose a printed or 80% lower. Obvious choice would be a finished receiver if that were the deciding factor. And 80% whether poly or alloy may be cheap, but the jig and tools needed are not. I don't even have a router, never have. Since I am not planning on building for others, that cost is a huge element driving the price up much nigher than a high end finished receiver. With printed lower, you can crush it and sell the remainder of the parts or replace it rather cheaply. Guessing the same could be said for 80% once the initial tooling cost is over. I did so want to go casper just to piss people off but carbon fiber sounds better. Guess I just have to pay the shipping and tell my FFL I have another pkg coming
-
my big complaint at the moment is the cost of building is higher than buying a complete AR. Especially if you are doing a one off from an 80%. Unfinished lowers cost more than a ready to build lower and you have to buy jig and tools on top. fFor that scenario printed seems the most budget friendly.

LMAO! Rex I've never read you as being reserved one word answer before. What would be your verdict on them? I ask because I too have thoughts of building a lightweight in 5.56 for range fun. All I have is .300BO and it's a bit more expensive to shoot.

I prefer metal myself. However, I just did a quick count and find that my handguns are running 3 to one polymer to metal. It isn't the strength, it's the appearance for me. My fav is a Firestar M45, heavier than a brick but man it does shoot sweet. I am assuming you are making the metal>polymer based solely on firearms. We have so much poly around us that would not be better served as metal. Take a quick look around the inside of ANY car. I would prefer paper grocery bags and cardboard milk cartons but I've gotten soft in my old age and started thinking a bbit about our environment and waste. Some of the alloy framed pistols I think are better than steel framed of the same model. My thinking is that poly lowers would be fine for normal use. After all, the trigger is pinned in and will have a metal frame. Every other moving part is in the upper. That is opinion as I have never had a poly frame lower.
