  1. Federal 125gr SJHP. I read that 30 years ago. The only offsetting factor is that the original data started being compiled when most highway patrol and many local LEO carried 357s with Federal ammo. One hypothesis is that the marksmanship training helped contribute to the one shot stops. Gelatin tests and goat testing also favored this load. This is all assuming a two legged predator, for hogs or bear I'd stick with 158gr FP. I read the "reduced muzzle flash" of modern loads and got a chuckle. Even with a 6 inch barrel you're going to have a big flash. Still, I would be quite happy with 125gr SJHP of any brand in a gunfight. BTW, 230gr Hydrashok .45 is 92%.
  2. When we lived up north we locked our car inside a locked garage. That was in the 70's. Our family never locked their cars, hell they left the key in the ignition. People tend to do what those around them do, I was always afraid I'd lock my keys in the car but guessing the thought of it prevented that. If you look back at the discussion of the Memphis police officers being shot by a criminal released on recognizance you'll see what I think of the problem. Our current state of disrespect for the law should not be happening. It is a symptom of lack of respect and responsibility brought about by anti Christian ideals promoted in our schools. Now I need to use my soapbox to prop up the mower deck while I rebuild it.
  3. a. You should be able to do/not do a lot of things but the bleeding hearts have allowed the ne'er do wells free reign. b. I have a lock box in my car for the offhand case of having to enter a building where firearms are not allowed. c. I try hard to avoid entering said buildings. Most I won't enter without a subpoena. d. With freedom comes responsibility.
  4. Wish you were closer, I'd take at LEAST the HyrdaShok
  5. This was my line of thought during the storm coverage last night. Not complaining about the coverage, just the commentary accompanying the news. The best part is "Send us your pics! Don't endanger yourself but send us your pics" Kinda sums up the social media generation. But no, they aren't going away, our leaders will continue to "protest" them from themselves. "protect" I think that was a Freudian slip on my part. Hope I die before I have to rely on these younguns.
  6. Been working today so haven't checked outside yet. We had some strong wind and very heavy rain. I've never seen a tornado in person, but I have heard one go over. Pretty certain that's what the sound was before and after the moment of silence. God bless those who lost. And it doesn't sound like a train,,,exactly.
  7. Did she find out how much you spent on firearms???
  8. Sorry not familiar with any of your choices. But I can agree with those who have said a good holster and belt are crucial. I've carried a double stack all steel .45 under a shirt one size too large. And 4:00 position is best for me also. SOB hurts and I'm too fat for IWB. My fav summer piece is currently my Kimber Micro9, no spare mag but usually with a pocket rocket backup.
  9. yep, been there done that. Also rubbed the corner of my eye once. And I use some really hot peppers. Thai peppers are outrageous.
  10. Not a fan of the "modern" style exactly. I prefer the Para Ordnance look. But I do like many of the old look 2011s. the double stack 45 is definitely a great piece. Not saying the race gun style is bad, some are really good looking. I just prefer the original 1911 look.
  11. Just seeing this thread but yep, bought a new Norinco back in the 90s for $89+ tax and sold it for $150. Still new in box never fired. It was around the time they came out with AK pistols and banned import of the cheap Chinese steel core ammo. I thought prices would drop. Now we know why I'm not in the stock market LOL
  12. Beautiful. Pythons are my favorite revolver ever. And I've been looking at Five Star trying to decide what combination I want for my Taurus 608. I would be looking at wood grips too, they just have a look to them. Probably not the original Python style though. Congratulations on a great aquisition.
  13. that was a low blow
  14. I see a few "died" on their sleeping mats.
  15. well that's not as bad as I expected. Bad, just not as bad as expected.
  16. that's just sweet. I love a carbine length rifle. Just a handy weapon.
  17. I won't unless I hold off on lesser things LOL. I'd dearly love to have a high end SAA or 1911. And of course, this one after the wood is put to it.
  18. SHHH, "THEY" will be after you! LOL
  19. I couldn't get past top cause of death in children the first time. We know that is manipulated data. Got to Feinstien and the "assault weapons ban" the second try. FBI statistics prove that had no effect on crime. FJB still can't stop repeating stupidity like are the deer wearing Kevlar. I don't understand why anyone is still listening.
  20. It's like mudslinging, trow everything you can and see what sticks. They have to know this will go through the court system like a runaway freight train. where is the line between a hobby and a business? Anyone can make a "profit" but can you sustain it and actually make a living at it.
  21. Can't find a good pic but this is currently in the garage waiting for me to rebuild the engine. Got a little too rough with her and spun a rod bearing. She'll have to get a respray as the clear is peeling off now. She's a beast
  22. OK, I have to ask the dumb question. Have you used the FTX in 300BO loads? FTX is what I run in my 30-30. The 300 likes heavier bullets and sub-sonic loads but it's fun with lighter bullets.
  23. well...
  24. That's funny! yeah, Dad traded me the 73 Polara, it had a 400 CID. I tried to trade fro a 68 Super Bee with a 440 4 speed and he nixed it. Said the 440 was too much. Hell the Polara would probably outrun the Bee! I had a 96 Regal 4 door. That pea green that it seemed most of them were. It was a very sweet car as long as I didn't look at the outside. Mama and I bought an 18 Regal TourX new, probably keep it till we die. But DMAN! a 69 RR for 3 grand was a bargain even in the 90s
