  1. point A. I agree point B. I agree His mentality isn't flawed, the flaw is those who believe only LEO can/should be armed. Assuming he isn't trying to look like LEO. Consider the vids of people cleaning up homeless person for a job interview. We tend to judge based on appearance but once an unstable bum is cleaned up and put in nice suit you have an unstable bum that looks nice in a suit. I notice people who dress like thugs, they most likely aren't but they appear as a thug so what am I supposed to think? SO the question we have to answer is how do we want to present ourselves which is why I have chosen not to OC even though most likely no one in my area would even notice. There's always a Karen waiting somewhere.
  2. Wife works at JFK middle a short distance down the road. They are on lockdown. Hobson pike closed at the Wilson CO line. Three shot, two dead. one other student injured not by gunfire. I was already stressed and tired when I got the wife's text. Media coverage is too much. get out of the way, let parents pick up their children in relative peace. We will not find anything out today. Very saddened and upset by this though not a surprised in the least. Also going to say that having that many LEO standing around after the threat is eliminated is unneeded in my opinion. Only hindering getting those kids out and CSI getting their job done. I worry for my wife's safety and this did not give me any warm fuzzy feelings. I have resisted the urge to reply to someone calling for state Republicans to enact gun control. I mean, 17 year old in possession of a handgun on school property, not like that's against any current laws is it?
  3. Well it is a forum for discussion. No one has gotten ugly yet. There have been a few reasons brought out here on both sides. I wouldn't consider myself as preferring open carry as I would rather be gray. But I think the best reason was something Col. Jeff Cooper said, "an armed society is a polite society". Though our current society might change his view it makes sense that OC would be a deterrent in most cases. It is more comfortable, and it is obviously quicker out of the holster. I know, there are two sides to everything but there's my two cents on the pros.
  4. Aren't puppies fun
  5. As long as the Mrs doesn't put things away I tend to know where they are. LOL
  6. I'm working out a staging plan. I'm considering hidden shelf type pieces and magnet mounts. I'm never far from a couple as it is but one never knows.
  7. spell check!
  8. Not surprising from people who would complain to Starbucks that their security guards were armed. You know, the guys hired to protect the people complaining. The irony being all law enforcement except for County Sheriffs are hired security.
  9. Can't find the other one I resized of them wrestling. I have zero pics of the pair facing me, can't snap it quick enough. He's about 18 months now and she's 4 years. Matilda outweighs Snoopy by 30 pounds and he can easily knock her on her butt. I'm so happy they have bonded so well, they are both velcro dogs and it can be a challenge to stand up when they greet us returning from work. I wouldn't have it any other way.
  10. Agreed. My 500 is mission specific. I've read the staggard loading logic and agree with the principles. So, my house is open with only 3 doorways less than 8 feet wide so no issues with choke points inhibiting the swing. I have it for only inside the house and only loaded with buckshot. If I have to go outside I'll pick up the AR. I have a pistol on the nightstand with the job of getting me to the closet. Both the nightstand pistol and the Mossberg are equipped with lights. I wouldn't want the pistol grip version because of the lowered mag capacity and controllability. I still think the Maverick combo is a good dual purpose choice with proper loads and expectations. And of course, practice. I would like to have an autoloader just because and an old Wingmaster is on my list.
  11. I tend to agree. Hard to tell with that puppy face but looks like lab/terrier mix and she will be looking for something to do. Our Danes are stubborn and have no job. They did enjoy the snow today. Sorry I didn't get pics.
  12. The only Glock I'd consider. Someone needs to pick this up before the bargain price drags me over to the Glock side.
  13. I tend to agree with this. I've had a 500 Cruiser in the bedroom closet for about 25 years. I don't hunt so I don't need the extra barrel but if I were buying today this would be considered. The extended tube on mine is great though. 8+1 00buck is good medicine.
  14. NOW you've made me hungry!!
  15. Couple inches on the ground here outside Shelbyville. It has changed over to large flakes so we may be coming out of it. Looks pretty and the two Danes don't mind so I'm good.. If the power goes out I have blankets and two big heat sources. LOL
  16. I have no idea what was put into mine, it has a PSA lower and I believe it was bought assembled. It is pistol length. About 13 inch with flash can. My one and only AR. It's a good around the house gun.
  17. Depending on pistol weight, a good paddle holster might work.
  18. I have supersonic ammo for mine but it hates it. Blows the grouping out to unacceptable spreads. Subsonic is what I depend on, the rest is just range junk for me. The SIG ammo groups well so when I find it I buy it. I hate paying the premium but oh well.
  19. My Home Defense AR is pistol length, and .300 BO. Current first mag is 205gr Sig Crown sub-sonics.
  20. Thanks for taking them in. People are (mostly) disgusting. They look precious.
  21. Some of us weren't around here 13 years back. LOL! Compact 45 is my favorite subject. I'm watching two different models on GB now. Some of the comments were interesting but the best advice was the one that fits you best.
  22. Threatening my wife would get one evicted from my AO to be sure.to say I'd go to war for her is an understatement. I do understand the dynamic of the area though. I personally wouldn't offer any compromise, just a suggestion for a more tolerant person. At this point, lots of concertina wire would crisscross my property, it could easily be pulled back for the livestock. And I am not advocating that anyone do what I would as I'm intolerant and unforgiving.
  23. Wow, you are more tolerant than I. Which knowing history is a very good thing I would have to believe. Sad to re-enforce that you will always be an outsider but it's true. I would have to believe that if they are hunting your property that often it is harassment. Especially being close to your house. I believe you will have to go to the state level to get any satisfaction. Sorry for your trouble and best of luck. Adding this and I don't know if it would work. Offer to trade time allowing them to coon hunt specific dates in exchange for taking care of your coyotes and varmints.
