1. as dependable as an anvil 1a. fits my hand 2. recorded fight stopping success 3. balance, heavy enough to shoot quickly/light enough to carry 4. hammer fired 5. auto loading 6. available replacement parts 7. available holsters (multiple) 8. not plastic my favorite can only muster about half, it's heavy, and has NO support in holster/parts. my new EDC is plastic. I would be fine with my 8 shot revolver but I shoot autos much more naturally.

Just a thought on ammo and reloading supplies
papa61 replied to gregintenn's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Stopped in to Academy in Smyrna Monday and there was ammo on the shelf. Mostly Federal which is my preferred brand. 45, 9mm including HST and Punch, 30-30 and several others. No 32ACP and no 300 BO, and no 357 mag. 32 and 357 being the two I need to build stock in and do not reload. they also had a few reloading components, No primers by the time I got there but they may have had them earlier. They didn't carry powder before so that was not there. I am only set up to reload 30-30 and .45ACP so I have to rely on what is on the shelf for other calibers. That there is anything on the shelf is encouraging in itself, like someone else said, after the loaded ammo is caught up, the components will come back. I am all but out of LRP myself and have less than half a box of bullets so I won't be shooting that but I have 45 and a lot of shotshells so I can still shoot. Good luck finding what you need as it is still hit and miss.(no pun intended). right place at the right time is all you can hope for now. -
A moment of silence, Tales of Bubba and M1917's

it looks nice anyway. I am not educated in rifle actions but since you tried 30-06 I assume it is long action so that leaves the short 300 magnums out? I would use it to make a nice custom since I like anything .30 caliber. -
if you got the shots you don't need a mask,,,oh wait, yes you do, maybe, uh, you need a booster, no, no you don't, oh hell yes you do. we have to mandate the shot to protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated. The clown in chief ACTUALLY said that???

You have my prayers. Christ taught us to lift up our brothers in prayer, My sister's pastor and his wife were diagnosed with Covid, he is recovering and she is having a difficult time. Pray for them as well.

Ah yes, I had to put $350 into it. Twice what an Iver Johnson in similar condition would have cost but not much more than a 3inch US Revolver model with 3 inch barrel. Seems the 5 inch US revolver in 38 S&W is rare. I olan to research the serial number and production numbers to see what pops up. Best of all, my wife approved before I committed to the buy.

I picked up Friday. I found it at the flea market between Manchester and Tullahoma. Fred's booth is a lot of fun. not sure about the US Revolver but the two silver badges appear to be authentic Pinkerton as does the brass New York Central Railway Police badge. There are three large and three small Pinkerton uniform buttons and the box of 38 S&W holds 48 rounds, Of course the "Golden Spike" is just painted. The revolver is functional aside from the ejector. Finish is non-existent and there is much pitting. I will test fire it when I find a box of ammo but this will be a display piece. Just wish I had documentation on the history of what appears to be an authentic retired railroad detective's service memento. If you know this to be a fraud,,,don't tell me

oh I forgot. went to Oklahoma to train national guard troops. home of the ticks. wore flea/tick collars on both boots the entire time I was there. Who else knows that ticks will climb tent poles and drop on heat sources? freakin airborne attack!
-
Yeah seed ticks, we need a national effort to eradicate those things. got into a bunch when I was 18 and took weeks to get them all. I have moles that size everywhere and plenty hair to hide the ones that have yet to attach. hope y'all never sit down on the toilet after a long day in the field to see an army climbing your legs. They are clear until your blood is in them

A Bit of Good News, Chipman Nomination Withdrawn
papa61 replied to Darrell's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thanks bobsguns. (what he said) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ political gamesmanship. you won't approve that, how about this? -
I am shocked. My rep doesn't know what the ATFE is! Seriously, after our Christmas bombing in Nashville, who in the US of A does not know what ATF is? I am going to have a serious talk with his man. He did inform me that he didn't know wha letter I was speaking of so maybe not everyone was party to it. TO Charlie Buam's credit, he did say he would probably support it. He has been pro gun so far.

This is a great idea. WELCOME all new members!

The only arm I've ever heard of that fired on it's own. with only one available in .45 I have nothing to worry about except someone else's. Kinda hard to defend against that.
-
That is much better! Just getting rid of the weird stock made a big difference.
-
but not nearly as much fun!
-
I agree, so just keep looking! depends on what I want to do. if there was one be-all-do-all I'd probably hate it.
-
but it was a dry heat right?

At this point it will come down to the local DA. 20 some odd years ago the local news did a report on concealed carry. this was before we had shall issue laws. the DAs of middle TN all said they would not prosecute someone for unlawful carry if they had been involved in a justifiable self defense shooting. my how times change.

make it three. and I have to renew my TGO membership!

Dr Ulm did my neck. He and his staff were great.

ah yes, I remember it not so well. Being a smoker, my insurance paid for a bone growth simulator. I still have it if you and your surgeon would like you o have it.
