  1. I have been lacking on greeting new members again. BAD Papa. Hope everyone feels welcome and enjoys/learns from the forum.
  2. I resemble that remark!
  3. "chew over" I see what you did there! To be fair, that is in all vehicles. I can see the horror movie story line now..."In a world over-run with mutant rats, no one can escape without a magneto..."
  4. baby steps. ammo won't return to pre-pandemic prices, the execs have said that outright.
  5. Couldn't make it out there. How was it? any good deals?
  6. agreed. waiting to see which way the wind is blowing near mid terms maybe?
  7. have you never seen a fart lit?
  8. we're either drilling for oil or digging for lithium. both in Cali
  9. I have read of a municipality doing it at the sewage treatment plant. Used it to heat buildings. I'll have to try to find it again. It's not as simple as it sounds but it can be done. Whether cost effective I don't know. did not find the exact article but the process is more prevalent than I imagined. Portland Oregon does it and generates 90% of the electricity the plant uses so cost effectiveness is there. maybe not from the landfill but it is feasible. I do remember the article I read stated that wherever this was also sold the compressed, dried, processed crap to farmers as fertilizer.
  10. my personal view is a person is not bound by unjust laws. cannot recall who said that to give credit but it wasn't me.
  11. very close to an alternative fuel. if you crap in a tank an pump out the gas you could burn methane. drive by the landfill in Walter Hill at night and you can see it happen. might have an aversion to the odor but hey,,,free fuel is free fuel
  12. glad you are making progress. hope the estimated time is exaggerated. my politeness is situational. if my new buick broke down I would not be as polite as if my used "new to me" chevy broke.
  13. release your inner daredevil! my son washed my bike for me one day. did a great job, right down to armor-all on the tires. after prying the seat out of my butt I had a good laugh.
  14. try a set of these
  15. never will understand that. just begging for a fuel mix disaster.
  16. total electrics are not a viable solution for transportation. if they were, we wouldn't have government subsidies for buyers. when the tech catches up to real world situations it may be worth the added cost. what is available at this point is neither environmentally better nor as capable as ICE equipped vehicles. if bugging out I'd want a retired armored car with multi fuel capability, but one can dream can't one?
  17. I'm and have been since the 70's an advocate for fuel diversity. though I wouldn't push full electric as environmentally preferred to fossil fuel at all. I would be looking for a hybrid if I were in the market for a new vehicle. A true hybrid is just more efficient. If I had the means to build ny own it would be a multi fuel hybrid. I would like to see what could be done with a turbine engine gas/electric hybrid. I believe ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel, LPG should all be in use. Each fuel has it's own emissions, but the issues are all different. You aren't overloading the atmosphere with any given pollutant. We use EGR to cool the combustion process, this lowers efficiency and raises carbon emissions in order to lower NOX levels. this process lowers the oxygen level of the incoming charge. each thing engineers have tried and implemented has only moved the problem. All of this said, if it were workable for me I would daily drive an all electric in order to offset a (badass) hot rod. Oh, the electric tech isn't new, when one of my boys was young we played with radio control monster trucks. the capabilities of those made me wonder how to upsize them and use the tech in full size rides. With regenerative braking and smarter, faster charging the only obstacle to electrics taking over is batteries.
  18. didn't take Ruger long to get the big profit Marlin back out. could have bought this Marlin new at the gun show in Murfreesboro back in 2017 for under $900. figured I'd wait until the new rush dropped and get a better price. should have bought two, could sell one now to cover both and have ammo money left over.
  19. well this explains a lot. combine me 3 favorite pistol calibers and you have my perfect woman. SHORT, THICK, and COUNTRY
  20. I've been out a long time. my records are on actual paper. have to wait for someone to pull the file and copy it.
  21. if it makes you feel any better, I sent a request for a replacement DD214 in August. still haven't heard a peep. at least you can complain to someone who might at some point get tired of hearing from you.
  22. I would be inclined to extract the screw and re tap the threads since I might have the correct tools to do it. But I shouldn't and shouldn't have to. When one buys a firearm we should expect top quality components and workmanship. Especially from a manufacturer like S&W. Sorry for your frustration. Send it back and complain loudly and daily. This kind of issue is completely unacceptable in my eyes. they should just send a new slide.
  23. after much thought, I chose this as my favorite handgun. I will never own it but when I saw the INFINITI custom it brought this up from memory. It is a Nitehawk custom with color case hardened frame by Doug Turnbull and stabilized mammoth ivory grips. I have the magazine with high quality pics in my collection though.
  24. I wish I had a couple crates of lever guns right now. I wouldn't sell them, just wish I had a couple crates. good luck with your search and be prepared to shell out more than you expect as some have tripled in price in the last 3 years. Kicking myself for thinking the price would drop on the 45/70 SSBL guide gun, that $850 tag at the gun show in 2018 is looking really fine in hindsight.
  25. yep, loved those things! wore out a few myself.
