In terms of the likelihood of it ever being shot, probably my 1889 Berdan II single shot rifle.  The (single) action screw is broken, and thus far I've been unable to find a replacement anywhere on the planet, plus the ammo (components) are fairly rare, often out of stock, and expensive.  In terms of how I feel about it, the most useless is undoubtedly my AR15.  A few years ago I built one, just because, shot it a couple times and put it away.  Not a big fan of this platform, I wound up with quite a few parts in anticipation of building others, after the first I just lost interest ...

I am sure we could find new homes for the stock of parts. I have an AR pistol in .300BO but I'd like to build another just to do it. they are a good arm to have around even if they do eat a lot.

I have an old Hopkins & Allen 12 gauge single shot. Best guess is it was made around the 1930s (?). It was used for many years with old corrosive ammo and rarely cleaned. The bore pretty much resembles the surface of the moon. 🙄  But it belonged to my Grandpa, so I keep it. 😉

Same story with my Iver Johnson except mine has a crack in the comb. I haven't ever fired it but I don't consider it useless at all. Since I don't hunt now I guess they are all useless to some but I love them all.

At the risk of offending some, I agree with the OP, I see no use for the .410 wheelguns, but I still want one LMAO.

  3. I worked in plastics for too many years, Several different factory positions until China became the manufacturing place to be. Mechanic at several places then Management at Travel Centers. Worked for a company that builds dump bodies and snow plows as office manager/admin. Now work for a large autoparts distributer as product support specialist.

In other words, I've not stayed with anything long enough to get to the top or retire. 🙂

I can't disclose whom I work for, but we sell stuff to NASA and parts for the F-35 and the guys here won't be forced to take the jab. So parts for the F-35's and NASA may be scarce. We shall see who hollers foul first. Masks are optional you want it use it you don't then don't.

I watched some of the NYC anti vax march, lots of firefighters and cops. y'all know what happens when the NYC trash collectors stop working. 🙂

Yeah it really infringes on your rights to get vaccinated for a disease that will kill you. I just checked in to see if this place had gotten any smarter.  I'm not disappointed.

    Fact Check:

Wife got vax. Wife got Covid. Wife was very sick.

    I didn't get vax. I got covid. I didn't get very sick,

Vax does not prevent infection. Vax does not guarantee survival, Vax needs "booster".

Mrs is back to work finally. I work from home and never missed a day,

Yes, mandates infringe on your right of free choice by definition. I am smart enough to ask my doctor about what I do or do not need, Thanks for calling me stupid for being able to think. I am not disappointed either.

  6. Several outlets are reporting that Hornady manufacturing has issued a letter requiring employees to be vaccinated. A copy of a letter from Steve Hornady states they will have to be fully vaxed by November 10 to keep their jobs. Sad that gun manufacturers are bowing to these over-reaching mandates.

the truth is government contracts are worded exactly and any changes supposedly would call for a re-bid process. By adding requirements, the government would be in breach of contract. If companies stand their ground they would not lose the business or could sue for losses. The tyranny is real. When you threaten people's livelihood what else can we call it?

Do any of you have a holster like this? If so how do you like it? I like to carry on the right hip, with my mags on the left hip in a separate mag pouch. This style doesn't make sense to me. How do you access your spare mag with your left hand when carried this way? This seems to be more of an appendix holster.

my son just received his new holster and loves it. He bought my M43 Firestar and size 2 fits very well. seems to be well made and looks as good as the pictures.

of course he doesn't have my spare tire to reach across. lol

  8. I'm not trying to be a snob,,,it just comes naturally.

I have never owned, shot, or touched a Glock. They are not astheticaly pleasing to my eyes. I also prefer hammer fired guns. I'm not saying they are bad, I just don't like them.

What David said is of high importance. A handgun should feel good in your grip. This helps with natural point of aim and control. My favorite shooter fits me. Yours should fit you.

I'm not a gun nut, or a car or motorcycle nut. I'm a machine nut and my firearms for the most part, reflect that. I think the AR is ugly. But I have one anyway because I know they work.

As a former LEO, a vast majority of the officers that I knew only shot their guns during qualification or during an organized training. Sad but true.

There are many more aspects to law enforcement so those who have little or no interest in firearms figure if they pass they are good enough. No disrespect intended there, a sidearm is just a tool for them. I can use a hammer but that does not make me a carpenter, just someone who can hit a nail if I need to.

You cannot go wrong with a Glock 17.   Complaining about a certain grip is a pass time of gun forums.

I have read many after action reports by law enforcement.  I have never read a police officers say "I sure am glad I have that custom grip or I would never have won that fight."  Same thing with triggers. As a matter of fact most cops don't even know how many rounds they fired.  That being said most shooters just shoot at targets and that is where a comfortable grip, nice trigger and sights come in to play.  I have owned a few Glocks and still use the Glock 19 as my go to pistol.

We are here specifically to pass time on gun forum. so that is not a valid point.

MOST law enforcement officers are not shooters and many only shoot when they have to qualify. so again, not a strong argument.

I could give some long drawn out stories of my experience in the military or some great analogies from other sports. I could quote those who teach modern combat hand-gunning or competent gunsmiths. But no need.  What is most important is the shooter. One must be prepared mentally and physically to use a handgun in order to save life by possibly taking another's. In a gunfight, every possible edge gets you infinitesimally closer to survival. I'll pay my money for what makes me comfortable and go thank you.

Don't get me wrong......I love the look. I once had a chromed Beretta with those same style of smooth black grips, it was gona be my bed side piece. Then the bump in the night reminded me of how sweaty my hands get when I'm nervous, agitated or excited. I couldn't hold steady aim. My normal grip now turned the gun slightly right. Once I realized that distraction took my focus off of clearing the house and doing as trained, I sold the beautiful piece soon afterwards.

Moral is, hope the little bit of grip on the front and rear are enough......but it looks good.  😎

no issues, I can even one hand it with my off hand and maintain control.

Not the ideal position for a backup mag, but better than at home in the safe?

Mag on the same side looks like a cool idea until you need it, then a problem arises.

had a hankering for a cross draw for one of my .45s. put a straight drop on my off side and couldn't reach it with my strong hand. mind you I am overweight and have had spine surgeries that limit my twisting.

On the bright side, it pushed me to lose the belly.

When at Hood I was in an Air Defense Unit. Chaparral missiles.  On FTXs it was quite normal for various aircraft to pretend to attack us while we pretended to shoot them down. Of course, I was just a mechanic, so I had no real part in the fun and games. While the missile crews were busy, the rest of us just had to deal with the noise. 🙄

What was interesting was when the Air Force came to play. Fighter jets on strafing runs scare the chit outta ya! 😵

nothing I have ever seen is as awesome as the A10 on an attack run! BRRRP! and GON on a wingtip 180 turn

As a young troop in 2nd Armored at Ft. Hood in 1972-74, we shared the post with the 1st Air Cavalry.  Helicopters constantly in the air. When we'd go play in the field, they'd come visiting just to harass us. Especially at night when we were trying to get some sleep. At tree top level with those big searchlights. 🤬  But they were just doing their thing like we were doing ours. 🙄

We learned how to deal with them. Take a spent blank cartridge case and shove it into the flash hider of your rifle. Use a live blank to launch it. Bounce a few of those off the main rotor and the pilots would  find somebody else to go annoy. 😉

I once saw the entire 1st Cav in the air and passing over at one time. Helicopters in all shapes and sizes, the sky was full of 'em!  Must of taken a full half hour or more for all of them to pass over us.  😵  Made a lasting impression on this young soldier.

Ah the memories! When I was stationed on Hood with 1st Cav I rented a second floor apartment that was in the flight path of choppers ferrying in and out from a foreign places. couldn't keep ANYTHING on a wall or shelf LOL.

When the Apache came out I had one scare the crap out of ne as I drove the edge of a tree line. He came in at treetop level from my right oblique and I never heard him coming. Love the Hueys, once you hear one you know it forever.

  15. never seen this one though I have seen VersaCarry. might be a bit awkward with my belly, but I actually like it. this is a good price for this brand as I have seen them at twice this for a speed scabbard style.

When you carry oddball guns like I do you find a lot of oddball holsters 🙂
