  1. I got a deal on some 50BMG ammo a couple years ago, but have nothing to shoot it in. I would love a Barrett M82-A1, but I'm pretty sure my wife would quite literally kill me if she found out I spent that much on a rifle. So I've decided I want an Armalite AR-50A1 instead. I thought I would see if anyone has one they would part with before I go buy a new one. Don't need glass since I bought a scope for the potential rifle last year. So, anybody got a spare one gathering dust they want to sell?

My dad got me a cheap Brazilian made 20ga single shot when I was 9 or 10 years old. The recoil on that thing was just plain brutal, even with light loads. I would come home from hunting and my shoulder and cheek bone would be black and blue for days. Didn't discourage me from using it, but I borrowed his Browning Auto 5 Light 12 every chance I got. I have shot 3.5" mag turkey loads that didn't kick as bad as that thing.
  3. There are several sources online, including Amazon and eBay. One of my favorites is sweetmarias.com. These are from the Dominican Republic. I just got 10 lbs from Guatemala.
  4. Good BF prices at all these: righttobear.com code BLACK22 combatarmory.com damageindustries.com recoilgunworks.com globalordnance.com evergladesammo.com mypatriotsupply.com unbrandedar.com
  5. My wife since she got home this afternoon...
  6. In the mean time, I roasted a couple pounds of coffee beans.
  7. It's looking good. Two hours of smoke on it. Now to turn it down to 250 and it will be done in the morning when I get up.
  8. Injected and rubbed down with Tony Chachere's Creole Butter yesterday. Will hit it with a couple hands full of apple chips and let it cook low and slow overnight.
  9. Go ahead and swap the ejector when you swap the spring. The M44 ejector will probably have less wear since most M39s were built from old M91 receivers.
  10. Numrich is out of Mosin ejector springs, but plenty on ePay. Here's the ejector, spring, and screw for $20 plus $8 shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/393054280039?hash=item5b83dc5967:g:XbQAAOSwuddihmdL&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsIVEnC5OkdPSeKMLPf7GosLK0auRh9ymphCW1%2BVJed6F0i27tUgY2JNWETsVzHWgmeqlEYY5wEHgBhMCkjPl5j%2Bw2BGeKI2st8RkzTHsGynZ5Snd5aMS2o%2FxHldBR5fDkx99NQUaBnaGEZ14rlGbZ35jq%2FbXzyJD3oKl7R1t7X7YZuxS7NBqvFAwbiS5iHLkoasSr3G89lqld2ObRHM5h%2FnZzlul07njTNhM7OYTlgwL|tkp%3ABk9SR4Cb0OuUYQ
  11. Take a close look at the scope mount and screws. Make sure none of the screws are a little proud on the inside of the receiver. IIRC, the screw holes on the PU mount line up with the ejector channel. Even if the screws are proper length, a little burr from D&T could interfere with ejector or ejector spring. If you were closer, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it. I've worked on many Mosins over the years and built several custom Mausers.
  12. I make fewer, but far more expensive ones now.
  13. Neither would admit it, but both got that guilty look and slunk back into the living room when I walked in the kitchen and saw it.

  15. Well, f.....! I put them in a couple of zip-loc bags, but forgot to put them in fridge before I went to bed. Woke up this am to find two ripped open empty bags on the kitchen floor. Our two GSDs got a treat last night. At least I still have the lard to make biscuits.
  16. A friend of mine killed a couple of hogs this morning. I swung by and helped a bit after physical therapy. Came home with a few lbs of sausage and a slab of back fat. Rendered about 5 pints of lard with the side benefit of fresh cracklin's and pork rinds. Momma says I stunk up the house. Smells delicious to me.

The old Japanese made Tasco scopes were hard to beat. I can't stop myself from snatching one up whenever I find them at garage sales and such.
