Do you think 2024-25 season doe rules will change?
hillbillyfab replied to TheShockerTN's topic in Hunting and Fishing
I might be wrong, but I don't see it changing from 3 a day in Unit L. If you look at the numbers a significant number of antlered deer were killed versus antlerless. I do wish they would have left the private land hunt alone at the end of the season. That's a week my family looked forward to in the past. -

Sent a PM. I’ve got the .22LR version of this gun. It’s one of my favorites. -
Just bought my first Tacoma a few weeks ago, ‘96 Ext cab 4WD.I had been hunting a used one to use as a backup vehicle, hunting/fishing rig, etc. My wife stumbled across it on FB for sale. I’ve had older Toy trucks, Gen I and II’s but never a Tacoma. I’m pleased with it so far. I’d like to find some stock later model takeoff Tacoma wheels if any of you guess are upgrading or have upgraded.

Black and whatever is on sale.

I’m wanting to add a ball head to my old death grip tripod. I’d like to be able to swap the saddle for a screw mount.. I see a few options out there, but then that lead to looking at new tripods in general. Anyone do any upgrades to the BOG tripod and have recommendations? If so let’s hear them.

We, my family made a day on the TN portion of it a few years back. We stopped and hiked almost all the trails to the waterfalls and observations spots. It’s was October so it wasn’t hot and made for an enjoyable experience. If y’all like the outdoors I’d recommend it. I wish I had brought binoculars, because there was lots of wildlife to view.

Just an update in case anyone searches in the future. I have learned the factory 3” guns have a steel receiver, while the 2 3/4” guns have an aluminum receiver. Makes sense as to why the gun is so light in weight. It does seem one can still swap barrels between the two.

I’ve got an older model Franchi Al48 12 gauge, 2 3/4” chamber shotgun. I see some 3” chamber barrels available online. Would it really be as easy as swapping barrels or is there something I’m missing? Are the receivers different from a 2 3/4” gun to a 3” gun? While I got your attention anyone sitting on any Franchi choke tubes they’re looking to sell?

Not sure if you found some, but if you ever head west the Sportsman Store in Dickson had #6’s last time I was in there.

Many years ago I did this. I was a gopher/grunt for an electrician my first job out of high school. My task was to pull a piece of romex through the attic of preschool/daycare one morning. Needless to stay I made a misstep and stuck a boot through the concealed grid ceiling. It didn’t help there were preschoolers in attendance at the same time .

I've seen that holster before, like you I wondered the same thing about the magazine being on the same side as your firearm. As for having the magazine and firearm together, I have a sidecar holster that I carry appendix and it works well. Firearm on my strong/right side, magazine canted toward my left/offhand.

I have lost two chickens over the years to possum's. They were silkies, which are know for being very gentle and tame. I actually had one of the "kills" on a game camera inside the coop. As for possums getting a pass because they eat ticks, not around here they don't. As long as they're raiding turkey nests, they'll get a rimfire round. I can't remember where the link was about them eating ticks, but what I read was it a controlled environment study. The possum was trapped and only feed ticks to survive.

Squirrel Hunting with a .410 in Middle Tennessee!

My preferred setup as well. When I figure out this picture size thing, I'll share my 22/45 suppressed setup. -
Squirrel Hunting with a .410 in Middle Tennessee!
hillbillyfab replied to Sidewinder's topic in Hunting and Fishing
We use no less than #6 shot in our .410's when we're hunting. My son and I hunt similar to what you're describing, he shoots a .410, I shoot a 22lr and it's over the back of our cur dog. -
Been following this thread, as I've been in the market for a .458 upper after my latest can purchase. Looks like I got more reading to do before I commit to a certain brand.

To Sling or not to Sling...
hillbillyfab replied to hipower's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I'm not affiliated in anyway, but just wanted to share that I received an email that trex arms is having a sale on their slings and accessories. -
I bought a box of it Friday morning at my local store.

Synthetic is all I use in my vehicles. My work vehicle just turned 410k miles. One owner, I change it every 10-15k miles. I made that decision after having a couple samples tested by an oil analysis. That's about the range I felt comfortable pushing it too. Good oil and a good filter and let it ride.

I've seen the Vickers on the shelf at Nashville Armory a few weeks ago. -
Can't comment about the law folder, but I can on the sylvan. It has a detent that helps keep the stock in the stowed position. I have no complaints about it coming unfolded in the stowed position, but mine is usually in a bag if it's folded. So that might change things if you plan to carry it while folded.
