Just remember, most teachers will never carry a gun. If you've actually known any teachers you will understand that it's not in their makeup. It's not who they are.   Some of us are dumb enough to be what's called brave. Some of us are people dedicated to teaching children. They are just as brave as the person we recognize as brave. But they will never condone violence. I've been married to a teacher for 35 years. She would throw herself in front of a shooter to protect "her" kids without even thinking. But she is not wired to be proactive. This is something we have to remember about schools and teachers.

I think locked doors and outside security. I also think that uniformed officers making a regular appearance in schools is a good idea.
