  1. Same. Said Alex has a BCG I want for sale. I just let TGO David know before I saw this thread.
  2. The extractor is a funny story. About 2.5 years ago, my dad and a couple friends went in on a 9-frame motor driven extractor instead of the old hand crank 4-frame they were using. I don’t recall where they were getting it, but when my dad went to pick it up, they could not find the 9-frame unit (that was on sale). The guy let them grab get a 15-frame unit instead. When they got home and unpacked it, it was a 21-frame unit. Deal of the century. I think they paid like $600.
  3. I pulled 7 supers off today and extracted about 15 gallons of honey. I probably had another 3 supers worth of partially capped honey. I will pull honey off again late July.
  4. Here is the 92S with new grips.
  5. I am pulling some of my frames on Sunday. Probably 48-56 medium frames worth. The rest I will get mid July. I will give an update Sunday evening.
  6. If you want to start learning, go to www.nashbee.org. That is the site for NABA (Nashville Area Beekeepers Association). There is a lot of information on the site. They have monthly meetings with speakers on different topics that usually align with what is happening with one’s hives at that time. It has been virtual since last March but the July meeting might be the first back to in-person.
  7. It’s just a little in-breeding…..
  8. Guns? No one here has guns
  9. Wow. That’s a lot of $$$ sitting there. That took some time to put together. I wouldn’t want to have to feed all those right now. However, with that kind of collection, I bet they have more ammo stored than any gun shop at the moment.
  10. Welcome to The Great State!
  11. Nice photo, but I don’t think it is vintage.
  12. So, did you drop $1150 or find a better deal?
  13. I need to get to the range. I want to sight in the el-cheapo red dot I got on Amazon back when they were so inexpensive.
  14. So I built an AR for shooting 22LR as well as 5.56/.223. It was built with a .223 Wylde 1/9 twist barrel, an Anderson lower (thanks Whisper), a blemed upper, a full stock (thanks KahrMan) and a free floating match hand guard. I aquired a cosmetically damaged PSA lower for next to nothing (read less than $30) so i needed to make it better. A buddy of mine got into Cerakoting for an auto restauration he is working on, but wanted to try fire arms. I was game and decided on a mildy two-tone build using a modified Disruptive Grey color (33% Graphite Black-66% Tungsten instead of 25% Graphite Black-75% Tungsten) for the upper, lower, and hand guard and Graphite Black for the stock, forward assist and ejection cover. The smalll bits were already a decent black in the lower build kit. The Cerakoting went great. It does take time to clean, sand blast, de-gas. Since we were doing two colors, we went with the black first. I did the frame of my 92S at the same time. The ABS plastic stock had to cure at a lower temp for 2 hours so we flashed the metal parts at that temp and then used the rest of the plastic cure time to do the Mod-disruptive grey (I need to name it). and flash those. Once the plastic was done we hard cured the metal parts. All in all I was at Scott's house for about 7 hours yesterday. I finished the build out today. I am very happy with the result. There are a few blemishes. It was Scott's first time to spray gun parts. And I dinged the hand guard, and of course the ding ended up at the top once installed, not the bottom. I am still trying to decide if the gas block should match the upper/lower/hand guard. The oven cured Cerakote is rated to about 500 degF. I am not sure how hor a gas block gets. I may have to Kote some other things. I think my inexpensive, parkerized GI model 1911 would look good that color, or a version of that color. The old lower from Whisper will get a new caliber upper (300 BO). Here are some before and after photos.
  15. I will say the cerakoting was not too difficult. A good acetone and simple green wash. Sand blasting was kind of gratifying. It did help that my buddy has a nice blast cabinet, and a nice spray-gun from Cerakote, and an oven dedicated to curing in his garage. I did everything but the spraying. He has the experience with the spray gun. I will note, if you are blasting a frame that has a blind hole for a spring, it will get packed with media. I learned that the hard way and had to dig out media during re-assembly.
  16. Mojave Jim is holding the same type rifle. Makes me think it was a prop at a photographer studio.
  17. Looks like a Colt Lightning Carbine (after a little research).
  18. I picked up an Italian Police turned in Beretta 92S last year from Fasteddie. it shoots great, but being a service pistol, the frame was a little beat up. Also, I never really cared for the glossy black finish. Since I was already planning to cerakote an AR, and I had the Graphite Black, I did the lower frame. I think it turned out great. it needs new grips. And I will post again once they come in. I may go back and strip the slide and kote it at some point. Before After
  19. What kind of rifle is that. It looks like a lever action, but I don’t see a lever.
  20. You can still get ammo at Walmart?
  21. Well that threw ice water on my ambitions.
  22. I do want to add that Ned Beatty was a great actor who played many different and varied roles. It’s unfortunate that the first thing folks remember is his role in Deliverance.
  23. Do we need to rename this thread “bad dad jokes”
