That’s scary, but does not surprise me. If a shooter is in any way a martyr for the cause of gun control, shooting politicians instead of children may have a bigger effect on policy.

I doubt Trump was wearing Level 4 Plates. Soft armor at best, and probably not even that.

Up for sale is my Sears Ted Williams Model 100 lever action. It is chambered in .30-30. It’s basically a Winchester model 94. I’m guessing it’s mid-70’s. I picked this up from Chance77 in 2022. It came with the side plate for the scope. I added the vintage Aimsport scope. I did refinish the wood. The factory finish was meh and the walnut turned out great with a hand rubbed oil finish. I sighted it in last fall and it shoots great. Asking $600. For sale to Tennessee residents who can legally own a firearm. Located in Nashville.

If he had used a Winchester Model 70 with a decent scope, he wouldn’t have needed a bunch of follow up shots. Or even an AR in 6.5 Grendel, or some other longer range cartridge. I am surprised there isn’t more anti-“evil black rifle” talk. But I also don’t watch a lot of news. What happens when the next guy uses a hunting caliber rifle (30-06, 7mm win mag, etc ) and a decent can. Then the chits really gonna get crazy.

I guess it’s fits both candidates to some extent. and I suppose it’s also the side you are looking from. Either side can argue that the other is just the same. Maybe Trump is just more open about his intentions. Both want the power. Biden said in 2020 that he was a “bridge” to younger politicians. Trump said recently he would rather be hanging out at one of his country clubs than running for president . Both could have stepped aside for younger candidates. Neither have their party that option. Both want the power. In the long game, neither will be here in 2028, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel. (But it’s probably just the headlight of the runaway train of “new” candidates about to run us down)

I listen to him not really the news. I’ll listen to what he says, and how he says things. I’ll listen to the rhetoric he uses, the divisive words, the ugly things he says, and that is what makes me not like him. He is not Presidential. He is not a nice man and I really don’t think he gives two cares about working people. if you really cared, he would not have run for president. He said “oh I only ran because Joe Biden‘s running”. He could’ve also supported a really good young slightly more progressive candidate who would very likely win, but that’s not what he wants. he wants to win, he wants the power .

If Trump wins, and after the events of this weekend, I believe his chances having increased, I hope he can put aside his pettiness in his vengefulness that he is known for, and he can lead our country and work with Democrats, without the rhetoric and the divisiveness that we saw in his first term.I know and recognize he got some things done in his first term, so I’m not convinced it will be a train wreck, but he will have to prove me wrong.

Well I would say gun-toting, 2A affirming, pro-choice, pro-equality, pro fiscal responsibility, pro tax the 1%, pro teaching all history, pro there are only two genders, pro FREEDOM of religion and from religion (including freedom from religion in government). Makes me pretty much damn square near the middle. (maybe leaning a little left). Fiscal Conservative, Socially Liberal , Uber-Moderate. Leave me alone to live my life as I want to and I will leave you alone to live your life as you want to.

I would love for Trump to not be the Republican nominee. That being said, I also don’t wish him dead at the hands of an assassin. I do think a republican president can get much accomplished that will benefit the USA. But I just feel deep in my core that Trump is not the right person. He is to decisive, too antagonistic, to petty, and too vindictive. I will worry his entire presidency that what his mind is really on is revenge and self serving policy. if the Republican Party could put forth a more moderate candidate that could work with the more moderate democrats, we might get crap done.

Your parading around with that purty Texan did spark some interest. It was a model I had not aquirred yet.

The stock of the Texan as it was when I got it and after removing the poly finish and going back with hand rubbed oil finish. One reason I was interested in it was I could see the potential beauty in the stock.

So in a fit of weakness, I picked up three new (to me) Marlins over the course of about a week and a half. First is a Marlin 336TS Texan from 1984. 30-30, straight stock, 18.5” barrel. The second is a Marlin 1894C in .357 Mag. The last is a Marlin 336 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30-30. Basically a Texan, but 20” barrel instead of 18.5” barrel and a saddle ring. Of course I found it last. I had to buy it because it was made in 1969 (my birth year) and will go with the 336 in 30-30 and the 336 in 35rem I also hand from ‘69. I may move the Texan when all is said and done. It is the only one I have in hand. It has really nice wood on the stock. Once I am done cleaning it up (and the others once they are in hand) I will post photos.

Random luck. I am a Christian. I believe Christ died for our sins. However, I don’t believe God steps in and intervens in life like this. God gave us Free Will to make decisions for ourselves, for good or bad. With this Free Will also comes a hands-off approach. If God intervened at times like this, that pretty much negates the idea of Free Will. I believe human history shows that God let’s things play out. Otherwise why didn’t he make the Covenant shooter have a car wreck on the way to school that day. Or give Hitler a heart attack. Or was it Devine Intervention that saved Hitler from the bomb blast? If so, why? Why not intervene with any other ruthless dictator that murders millions. Or a serial killers, etc.

I really have a problem with this. Why would Trump’s life be any more sacred than the father and fireman who was killed by stray fire. Or by the bullet that God made miss Trump.

Is it shameless of me to want to know what caliber the shooter was using?
