Assault weapons ban passed in House of Representatives
Snaveba replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The thing is, after the ban (if it were to go into effect) only the miitary and law enforcement and a select few wil be able to own a banned gun with the manufacture date included. I assume (possibly incorrectly) that gun manufacturers keep a record of the serial number ranges of the weapons they produce. As such, there would be a record in some place as to when a grandfathered assault weapon was produced. As to 80% lowers, I am suprised they did not include a ban of all non-serialized assault weapons. -

Interestingly, there is not a sunset clause in this bill. Also, they added a provision that if any portion of the bill is declared unconstitutional, that does not affect the remaining portions of the bill. -

I think in the case of the Mini 14 Tactical, it is not the name so much as the features (threaded barrel, etc.) that exclude it. -

Assault weapons ban passed in House of Representatives
Snaveba replied to The Legion's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
If I read the bill correctly fir first time (which was really just skimming over it) there is a grandfather clause for weapons owned prior to the bill becoming law. -
Oh I’m sure I will end up with at least one. I like having a variety. I suppose it might be that fact that Glocks can be such “fan-boy” pistols that is the turn off to me (which Is actually a rather stupid reason to dislike them). if the right MOS version pops up when I have cash, one will likely end up in rotation.

They did a pretty good job of defining it. Basically ANY AR or AK. They even list brands and models specifically in the bill. -
I have one. Shoots fine. I like having a variety of makes and models. I “might” even get a Glock one day.
-
Looks like any pistol capable of holding more than 15 rounds will be banned, as well as any pistol with a threaded barrel (among other things) along with pretty much any AK or AR (pistol Or rifle). At least there is a grandfather clause. But I agree, I don’t think it will pass the Senate. I do need to read the entire bill. Just kind of a pain in an iPhone.

I think this just passed in the House
