school shooting in Nashville at the Covenant School
Snaveba replied to FUJIMO's topic in General Chat
There was an active shooter at The Covenant School today. Shooter is down. Not sure about casualties. My wife works there at the Director of Office Administration. She was not there today. -
My 7th grade English teacher at BGA wrote “Life is not fair” on the chalk board the first day of class. He was also the head of the middle school. He told us we needed to learn that fact, that life will not be fair. In this modern time of “everything should be fair” I have tried to impart that lesson to my daughter.

Here are all of them together. 1967 Winchester 94 in .30-30, 1971 Sears Ted Williams Model 100 (Winchester 94) in 30-30, Rossi 92 I. 44mag, 1969 Marlin 336 in .30-30, 1925 Winchester 94 SRC in .32 WS, 1964 Sears Model 45 (Marlin 336) in .35 Rem

Actually I think it is an FP, just not a side mount version.
-
I don’t have a Williams Fool Proof, but it do have a Williams 5D-336 peep sight I will likely try on one of the Marlins
-
I like it better than the really long K6 with bad glass that won’t gather much light
-
Ok @gregintenn does this look better? I had a BugBuster scope from an AR build so I thought I would see if it fit. The K6 glass was just not that good anymore. I might also just go with a peep sight.

Nice. Be sure to share photos when you can.

Oops, My bad. that kind of kills the entire joke.
-
So your pickup truck is spying on you?
-
Don’t you live in Maryville? Just funnin you.
-
Anyone heard from @AuEagle?
-
Yea, the K6, while cool and vintage, is not the greatest scope. The coating is starting to come off the glass, and it does not have the best light gathering abilities. but it looks really cool.

So I did the same thing to the Sears branded Winchester I have. Its factory finish was meh. It was a harder finish to remove, and I ended up having to use Citrus Strip to get the hard finish off. I still used the acetone/0000 steel wool and denatured alcohol/0000steel wool for the final prep. The rifle as got it from chance77. The finish was much better than on the Model 45, but I still thought it had more potential. After stripping with citrus strip, acetone and denatured alcohol. I think I left a remnant of finish. After the first two applications of the Winchester Restorations Stock Oil (a tinted linseed oil recipe devised by long time Winchester restorer John Kay) After a few more applications and time to cure. (the lighting is different in the last photo. It did end up darker than above, but not quite as drastically as it looks)

I thought the same thing, but some of the design didn’t jive with a pre-64 date.
-
By 74, at least they had most of the kinks worked out from the changes implemented after ‘63.

Please don’t sand the wood if you can help if you can help it. If you haven’t restored the wood on an old lever gun, I can give some tips.

If the first buyer falls through, let me know

Does this have the stamped steel carrier or the later machined carrier?
-
Snooze and loose
-
Yep. That’s pretty f-ugly. (no offense)

Based on inflation, if you add up what I paid for the rifle, shipping, tax, and FFL fees. I’m right about there with paying the same price.
