The ongoing saga of my motorcycle builds....
Snaveba replied to Handsome Rob's topic in General Chat
Damn it Greg, I can't un-see this. -
I'm looking for load data for sub-sonic 45-70 rounds. I know sub-rounds are usually 400+gr, but can I load plinking subs with 300gr bullets (I have some). I have read Trail Boss by Hodgdon is a good low velocity powder, but it doesn't seem available. I am also curious about 30-30 sub loads.

I picked up a new lever gun I wasn’t in the market for. However, when a good deal on a really nice gun comes your way, you can’t let it pass by. It’s a very clean and very nice 1982 Browning B92 in 44Rem Mag. I shot it today and it’s dead on. It has one the smoothest factory action of any of my rifles. Unfortunately, it is so nice, it will probably (for me) end up a safe queen. I all but can’t find a mark in it. It’s nicer than my new Marlin 1895 45-70 SBL. I will have to decide if it’s too nice for my collection. Enjoy

I wonder when AI will start getting hands correct? These are not too bad, but why is the girl being rescued wearing a fire fighter's glove on her left hand?

Nashville has less than an inch (at my house) but it should be a pretty day to watch it snow all day.

If someone set a pile of 10 flour tortillas in front of you, and said here, eat all these, you would probably look at them like they were crazy. But cut them into quarters, fry them in oil, and add salt, it’s a non-issue.

Thanks for letting me know my mailbox was full. Yes it works. It was working fine when I removed it. The original bumper was bent and I removed the winch to try and straighten the bumper. I ended up replacing the bumper and this winch did not quite fit the new mounting plate. I have a replacement winch on the way that I know will fit.

At first I thought it was bacon.

For what are you wanting to trade?

I don’t have a lot of hope for Texas, they barely beat Arizona. I thinking it’s gonna be Ohio State vs Notre Dame.

So my latest acquisition in the realm of lever guns is a Marlin model 1889 born in 1890. Octagonal barrel, chambered in the venerable.44-40. Looks to be all original. She is old but still shoots straight. The condition was a bit more rough than I thought it would be (the auction photos were dark), but a little TLC to the wood and some gentle work on the barrel and she looks better. The barrel and receiver are mostly now a dark brown patina (rust). The barrel was a little rough. Not wanting to hit it with sandpaper which could round the edges of the octagonal barrel, I took a chance and ran a Case Knife oil stone up and down the barrel flats with lots of oil, it worked like a charm.

Oh, I’m not selling all my lever guns. I just sold the ones I wanted to sell to finish paying for the jeep. I guess I still need to post a picture of my most recent purchase.

I’m looking to add another birth year Marlin to the stable. The Model 1894 was re-released in 1969. I had one from 1976 but sold it recently. If anyone has one from 1969 they want to let go or if you hear of one or see one, please let me know.
