for-sale MARLIN MODEL 94 32-20 20" (1907-1935) REDUCED
Snaveba replied to lshel's topic in Firearms Classifieds
When you say it was refurbished by a PO, to what degree was it refurbished? Just a clean up and maybe some refinishing of the wood? Or was it reblued? -

TBH, I really can’t buy another rifle in 2023, LOL. Two are on the way to my FFL right now. -

That’s cheating -
But not this lever gun. https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/_E7C41D8AC7

I was looking at these at High Caliber in Nashville (just window shopping). Man they are nice! I could buy some serious lever guns for the price a a Staccato.
-
I think i should have been a little more specific. A jig for cutting a 3/8” dovetail on a rifle barrel for a dovetail sight.
-
And I thought that chances that the school at which my wife works would be the site of a school shooting was almost zero. Yet here we are.
-
Anyone have a dovetail cutting jig in their shop they could let me borrow? Wheeler used to make one but from what I can determine, it is discontinued.
-
Not the high class area. It’s just near the old fairgrounds racetrack.

She's gonna make a fine trapper. I have the replacement forend on the way. I received the short mag tube with the dovetail stud. I plan to re-blue the rifle as is. I actually really like the texture left by the rusting. Maybe I will re-blue, then distress the bluing for a worn look. Who knows. It's all new territory to me. I will post more pics once either make more room or TGO Dave increases our allotted storage space. I guess I need to pay for the 45-70 and then start saving for a 30cal suppressor (maybe a Harvester EVO) for the trapper. I think a suppressed 30-30 will just be way cool.

If You get to Nashville, Battleground Army surplus always has a great selection.
-
Get both. I guess it depends on what you want in a lever gun. I like old guns (Marlin, Winchester) and I don’t think 45 Colt was available in lever guns until more recently. It seems to be a popular cartridge for cowboy shooting. It should be ok for deer under 100yards.
-
Well, the 450 Marlin is so new, it doesn’t count in my book (LOL). If Marlin didn’t produce it for pre cross bolt safety guns, well….. I know that in general, sub .40” is mid bore, but Winchester called their rifles chambered in.375 Win “big bore” so I’m going with that. Otherwise, I guess I can say I have a pair of big bore (.444 & 45-70) a pair of mid bore (35 Rem & 375 win) although I have multiple rifles chambered in .35 Rem.

Well….. I picked up the beat up old ‘54 336 RC that I want to turn into a trapper on Friday. It’s actually not that bad. All the numbers match and the stock is in better shape than I first thought. But an hour ago, I won an auction for a three digit serial number 1972 Marlin 1985 (first year of the re-issue). So my trifecta of Marlin big bores (.375 Win, .444 Marlin, and 45-70) is now complete. The 1972 1895 has Ballard rifling instead of the usual MicroGroove rifling.

Hi, I’m Snaveba, and I’m a leveraholic. It’s been 30 min since I bought my last lever gun.
