  1. What do you think about Rubio's immigration plan and how the airwaves have been full of him talking about it. Seems even the talk radio hosts are giving him a somewhat free ride ..is he becoming a a RINO. From what I have read it doesn't look good..   Here's a couple links on one blogs criticism  http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/05/marco-rubios-embarrassing-appearance-on-fox-news-part-one.php http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/05/marco-rubios-embarrassing-appearance-on-fox-part-two.php

  3.   Whether anyone of us like the result or not. Unless ACA is repealed (which it wont be), the effect /impact on us will be felt for the rest of our lives and our kids all because a majority of voters didn't pay attention....That's the main pt of the article.
  4. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/05/obama-on-the-verge-of-becoming-one-of-americas-most-successful-presidents-ever.php :puke:   :stunned: POSTED ON MAY 23, 2013 BY PAUL MIRENGOFF IN IMMIGRATION, OBAMA ADMINISTRATION,OBAMACARE OBAMA ON THE VERGE OF BECOMING ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST SUCCESSFUL PRESIDENTS EVER With so many scandals in the picture or looming, it’s easy to miss the fact that President Obama may soon become one of the most successful presidents in American history. I’m defining success as fulfilling Obama’s mission of substantially transforming America. The Obama administration scandals matter because, to one degree or another, they involve scandalous conduct. But step back for moment. In 20 years, very few people will remember any of them. By contrast, in 20 years — assuming that Obamacare sticks and Schumer-Rubio style immigration reform is enacted — Americans will constantly experience the impact of the Obama presidency. Obamacare is an enormous deal. It directly affects about one-sixth of the U.S. economy. It directly affects not just our well-being, but also life and death. Arguably, it provides the most significant entitlement in American history, and certainly one of the top three. No entitlement enacted since 1964 comes close to matching it. Enacting Schumer-Rubio style immigration reform would be just as impactful. It would radically transform America by ultimately leading to citizenship for (an estimated) 30 million or more Mexicans, nearly all of whom will be low-skilled individuals, and many of whom violated American law as their very first act in this country. It is highly unlikely that these new citizens will assimilate successfully. Thus, America will be a far less unified country than it is today. It is overwhelmingly likely that the vast majority of the new citizens will vote consistently for Democrats. It is virtually certain that they will not vote for conservative Republicans, as that designation is currently understood. Thus, America will not be anything close to a “center-right” country. If we are a “center” country, it will only because the center moved significantly to the left. The economic impact of Schumer-Rubio is subject to legitimate debate, so I’m not going to include it in my analysis. But quite apart from immigration policy, the U.S. almost surely will either have an enormous debt problem or will have taxed the relatively well-to-do to the breaking point. Either state of affairs will reflect another Obama administration “success” — its ability to fend off Republican efforts to reform entitlements and to bring about substantial cuts in government. And, with so many new underclass voters, it will be nearly impossible to reverse the rot. Name a U.S. president since Lincoln who has had more of an impact on America than that which I have just described. You could make a case for Reagan, but FDR is the only one I would agree on.
  5. This series is a Danish series on Netflix. If you are looking for something different or have been through all the standard netfilx shows. Watch this one especially episode 3 and 4. Pretty good.    I watch quite a few of the foreign films and they are mostly pretty good even with subtittles..
  6. Lee Child recommended John Macdonald's  Travis Mcgee books. I picked up  a couple  and they are very good, fun, fast paced and entertaining. When you get a chance read one, I think like me you might be surprised how good they are.,.
  7. Got a call from the Asst Manager at Walgreens. They are going to issue a refund to price match Kroger's .  :woohoo:  this one time. Well Done Walgreens. Makes me fell better about doing business with Walgreens as well as a personal response vs the canned, read off the script response.I was getting..    Must i admitt, the response was fast and better than I expected...    Morale of the story: A few phone calls doing some price checking and non of this would of been a issue. Normally when I buy something, that's what I do.
  8. Our family has been getting prescriptions filled by Walgreen for years. My wife has a particular drug which in the past has been $27.00 for a 3 month supply. This time around the price was raised to 128.00  for the exact same  medication. Walgreen's pharmacist blames it on the insurance. Insurance blames it on the manufacturer. Someone is full of sh@#!!!!!.. Same drug cash price at Kroger's 47.00, same Drug at Costco's $27.00, Same drug with a 6 /2 month supply from Canada $85.00.     My big mistake is checking prices after the purchase. Walgreen's refuses to to price match or refund because it is a Drug.. Drug dealers don't give refunds.....  I have called the corporate office to complain but I don't expect much from the Corporate Office.    I don't have to, don't need to and will never set foot in a Walgreen's pharmacy for the rest of my life. I am in the process of transferring  all prescriptions to Costco.     And Yes it is my fault for not checking price beforehand.
  9.   no they didn't...

  11. http://dailycurrant.com/2013/05/02/bloomberg-refused-second-slice-of-pizza-at-local-restaurant/ Bloomberg Refused Second Slice of Pizza at Local Restaurant May. 02, 2013 New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was denied a second slice of pizza today at an Italian eatery in Brooklyn. The owners of Collegno's Pizzeria say they refused to serve him more than one piece to protest Bloomberg's proposed soda ban, which would limit the portions of soda sold in the city. Bloomberg was having an informal working lunch with city comptroller John Liu at the time and was enraged by the embarrassing prohibition. The owners would not relent, however, and the pair were forced to decamp to another restaurant to finish their meal. Witnesses say the situation unfolded when as the two were looking over budget documents, they realized they needed more food than originally ordered. "Hey, could I get another pepperoni over here?" Bloomberg asked owner Antonio Benito. "I'm sorry sir," he replied, "we can't do that. You've reached your personal slice limit." Stop and Tisk Mayor Bloomberg, not accustomed to being challenged, assumed that the owner was joking. "OK, that's funny," he remarked, "because of the soda thing ... No come on. I'm not kidding. I haven't eaten all morning, just send over another pepperoni." "I'm sorry sir. We're serious," Benito insisted. "We've decided that eating more than one piece isn't healthy for you, and so we're forbidding you from doing it." "Look jackass," Bloomberg retorted, his anger boiling, "I ####ing skipped breakfast this morning just so I could eat four slices of your pizza. Don't be a schmuck, just get back to the kitchen and bring out some ####ing pizza, okay." "I'm sorry sir, there's nothing I can do," the owner repeated. "Maybe you could go to several restaurants and get one slice at each. At least that way you're walking. You know, burning calories." Witnesses say a fuming Bloomberg and a bemused Liu did indeed walk down the street to a rival pizzeria , ordered another slice and finished their meeting. New York's so-called "soda ban" would have limited the size of sweetened beverages served in restaurants to 16 oz (0.5 liters). The plan, backed by Mayor Bloomberg, is currently being held up by a U.S. district court. Bloomberg has been the mayor of New York City since 2002. Theretofore he was the CEO of Bloomberg LP, the world's leading financial data firm. His personal fortune is estimated at around $27 billion.

  14. pic reminds of my pug who for some reason was befriended by a large german shepherd. I looked out the \kitchen window one day and saw them walking side by side holding the ends of the stick in each of their mouths. It was so funny this tiny pug on one end and a large german shepherd on the other end, They were buds.. just prancing around the back yard

  21. I did the free trail of netflix and then went ahead and bought 1 month. I started watching the chinese and korean movies because they were the only ones I haven't seen. Most likely I am going to drop the service again. As someone stated I don't get the buzz about Netflix.  I don't have little kids, either..

  24. http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2013/04/brits-shocked-at-easy-availability-of-knives.php POSTED ON APRIL 7, 2013 BY JOHN HINDERAKER IN GUN CONTROL BRITS SHOCKED AT EASY AVAILABILITY OF KNIVES In the U.K., private ownership of firearms is virtually banned. Professional criminals can still get guns, of course, but for your typical thug, knives are the weapon of choice. Thus there has been a steady outpouring of concern over burgeoning “knife crime” in recent years. The Sunundertook a bit of investigative journalism to find out how easy it is to obtain knives illegally, and was shocked at the result: LETHAL swords, machetes and knives are being sold illegally to children — with no questions asked. A Sun investigation today reveals how shockingly easy it is for youngsters to buy weapons, despite a series of high-profile killings involving teenagers. One girl was able to buy 14 deadly blades from seven shops in just a few hours. It is striking how similar descriptions of knife-buying in the U.K. are to gun-buying in the United States. In particular, gang members generally don’t buy knives themselves, but send their girlfriends to do it: The Sun’s investigators sent girls to buy the knives in order to copy the tactics used by gangs. By law, shops can only sell blades to over-18s who can produce ID. But 17-year-old Hannah Rose-Wynter was served in seven shops without being asked to prove her age. … A South London gang member, 15, told how teens get their girlfriends to buy knives because females arouse less suspicion and local shops rarely ask questions. Great Britain has banned guns, but it can’t very well ban knives: Kitchen knives are the most commonly used weapons in teenage gang attacks, police say. Even in the nanny state, you can’t realistically expect people to get by on forks and spoons. But there are more frightening blades available than mere kitchen knives: Hannah also bought terrifying swords from two martial arts stores, a machete from a Chinese supermarket and kebab knives from a business based at a house in Brockley. She said: “I was shocked at how many knives I was able to buy.” In Liverpool, 17-year-old Beth Carter bought a large cook’s knife from The Catering Equipment Centre in Mossley Hill and said: “I couldn’t believe how easy it was.” Here is Miss Rose-Wynter’s haul: Is this a parody? No. It is straight reporting. If you ban guns, this is what you get: knife crime. It’s that pesky human nature again…
