  1. That is one sweet gun. I've tried everything with the p220 to make a thumbs forward grip not mess with the slide lock. Those grips may give new hope. Wonder if you can get them separately.
  2. Im going to try that at my next idpa match.
  3. No joke. I am usually a 5 shot advocate, but if you get 3 holes touching at 200yards, that says all that need to be said.
  4. Why doesn't anyone make an asymmetrical handgun grip. The majority of the grips go into one hand, so why are both sides of the grips the same?
  5. can you shoot lube?
  6. I believe it is the pro that I have. It's the one with the round powder holder that came with the lee pro 1000.
  7. Thanks for all the pointers. I may retry that lighter load. Something I have found with the lee auto disk measures is that the first two and the last two loads that is gives are always off. Sometimes way off. That may have been where my initial problems with cycling were coming from.
  8. Should I be crimping a FMJ load? The ABC's of reloading said that no crimp is used on a .45 load. Bullets seem to be well seated.
  9. OK, I've loaded and shot my first 70 rounds of .45 acp (my first loads of anything). The first 10 I loaded with 5.1gr of Win231 and 230gr hornady FMJ bullets. These went bang, but didn't cycle the action in my p220. It seems that the more I read about using Win231 for 230gr .45, 5.1gr seems to be a middle of the road load, but it didn't work for me. The next 10 I loaded at 5.5gr with the same bullet. Much better results, but this seems to be a hot round by some books and a middle of the road round by others. I don't have a chronograph, so I don't know the speed. These did seem to be just as accurate as any factory ammo when I shot them at 10yards. Looking for some feedback on these. I loaded 50 more and shot them. Everything went well. One specific question I have about these Hornady bullets is that the list a max C.O.L. of 1.230 . For a round nose bullet, this is pretty short, no? My blazer brass rounds are 1.265. Why are these hornady bullets listed so short? When I bump them up to 1.250, they chamber and still headspace on the cartridge. Am I going to run into any problems if I lengthen the rounds like this?
  10. I've had those magtech LP primers on backorder at cabelas a loooong time. At one point they showed an expected date. Unfortunately, that date was 2 weeks ago
  11. This is not entirely true. The U.S. was not behind WWII until very late in the game, partly because they got stuck with the bill for WWI. It was termed "The Phony War" here in the US.
  12. Probably need to add that I am dealing with .45ACP specifically.
  13. I have some basic questions regarding pistol chambers as they relate to reloading. My first question involves the chamber depth, headspace, and the extractor. First, is dynamic headspace (as opposed to the static headspace of the chamber depth) determined by C.O.L. or case length? If the answer is that the headspace is determined by case length, first, how does the extractor come into play? Second, why does C.O.L. matter for anything other than cartridge pressure and feeding? Something that I ran across in my reading that is throwing me off is this picture: The four different images imply that you can adjust headspace with your load. Should the bullet ever be touching the lands in order to obtain the ideal headspace? This line of questions started when reading my loading manual and seeing that only max C.O.L. is listed not minimum (I am just getting started reloading).
  14. I lucked out one day. Not only did walmart have 600 rounds of .45 blazer, I had a buddy with me so I could buy it all despite the ammo limits.
  15. got a box of remington .45ACP at O.R. walmart! last one though. However, they did have some .40s&w. Has anyone seen any of the new Federal .45 since walmart stopped carrying blazer?
  16. It seems like they make it all way more complicated and expensive than it needs to be. Corporate america has to get their share, so that is where the majority of your $115 is going. There is no reason why they can't take your prints at the DMV, but they don't.
  17. Well, I used my nancy pad today and still managed to get a blue spot on my shoulder.
  18. Got my mosin fix for 40 rounds today

  21. I like this advice. I just started out with a small order of 100 bullets. I did however, order 8lbs of powder and 4k primers, just the make the shipping worthwhile.
  22. I've seen powder in Gunny's too. I've heard there is a place in Vonore too, but never been there. I am in the dark on this stuff. I went with a lee progressive press and just got stuff for .45 right now as I shoot about 500 rounds a month of that right now. I'll probably try .223 if I like it, and I suspect I will. I enjoy cleaning guns, and do it even when they don't need it. Any hobby that gives me a little quiet time is a plus.
  23. Anywhere in or near Knoxville that sells primers and powder?
  24. that is funny
