Like the other email circulating that had a clear goal of painting the POTUS in a negative light with regards to the handling of the situation, I suspect that this one will also prove to be a creative writing project.

Anyone familiar with Brown Bear ammo?
9teeneleven replied to horse2water's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would get the silver bear if you can. The brown bear is about on par with wolf IMO. The Barnaul stuff is better than both, but I've never found it to be that accurate. In handgun calibers though, I don't think it would be enough to turn me off. -
What problems do you typically encounter with the carrier?

Maryville walmart has had .40 in for a couple weeks. It is the winclean Winchester so it is twice the cost of regular WWB. They had a bunch though last time I was in, and the time before that. I would call.

I've been looking for a 20 round PMAG. Brownells now has a bunch of varieties of PMAGs in stock for anyone else looking for PMAGs.

I run into a problem when I start tabbing threads. I like to browse the site, and open in a new tab a thread I want to read, then read them all. However, recently I am getting shut out when I do this.

You can go to youtube and view it.

Ammo in stock if anyone cares.. :)
9teeneleven replied to lowbud's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I've never shot wolf .223, but when I have shot wolf 7.62x54 it would jam the bolt. -
I love how you can hear that exasperated "gosh" at the end. Looks like he went for a neck shot, then a head shot, then the lungs. You would think after the first two shots that he would have just aimed at the center of the deer.

Here, straight from the actual CIFTA document: "First meeting of national authorities directly responsible for granting the export, import and international transit licenses or authorizations for transfers of firearms, ammunition, explosives, and other related materials"
-
Yes, however, if you are not selling ammo that you make or reload with the intent to distribute (i.e. traffic), then its manufacture is not illicit. I agree, this could not be the case, but at this point, it is unclear. "The Organization of American States (OAS) on November 14, 1997, adopted the Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, and Other Related Materials (CIFTA by its Spanish acronym)." It depends how that "and" is interpreted. However, the following sentence seems to indicate that it should not be interpreted as an "or": "This is the first multilateral treaty designed to prevent, combat, and eradicate illegal transnational trafficking in firearms, ammunition, and explosives." "trafficking" by definition involves a sale. If you are not selling, you are not trafficking. Heck, if you are not transferring at all, you are not trafficking. Again, I have difficulty seeing how this would be upheld by any court as a restriction on your ability to reload ammo for your own use.

It seems like more stirring the pot to me. I am skeptical, though this is worth watching. What needs to be defined is what illicit means within the context of manufacturing. It could quite possible mean with the intent to sell and distribute, but that is unclear and only a guess at this point. The document does clearly define its role as controlling "trafficking." You are not trafficking ammunition if you are simply reloading for your own use. If you are currently selling without a license ammo that you made or reloaded, then are you not already in violation of the law? On the other hand, I have never really understood the argument that limiting or pricing out of reach the ammo supply is effective at doing anything other than making a nation of bad shooters. It only takes one bullet to kill someone. Even at the extreme, when was the last time you heard (if ever) of a rampage that used more than 100-200 rounds? Stopping people having access to a lot of ammo only means that those who want to become proficient with their arms are deprived of the ability to, since practice ammo becomes too expensive.

You are incorrect. The constitution does not apply to private individuals making restrictions on their private property. There are plenty of restrictions on free speech, just none (few) originating with the government. This afternoon, see if you have a right to protest or hold church service on your neighbor's front lawn. All the constitution protects you from is government infringement of your rights.

go to tennessee online and change your address. It will give you a page to print out a change of address confirmation. This is legit paperwork for an FFL.

Well, the ACOG arrived today. I don't have the gun yet, so no chance to test it in action. Overall, a pretty cool piece of glass. Very clear. The only downside (not a deal killer) is that there seems to be a dead zone when you are in low light aiming into brighter light. Or in medium light in general. When aiming into brighter light than the fiber optic is picking up, you cant find the reticule at all.

It is the Dark Earth model. I found it on gunbroker for under $1200, though the deal has been a little sketchy so far. I may abandon ship on it if I don't hear back from the seller soon, and call some dealers in the region and see if any have the dark earth M&P in stock. Seems like a hard to find gun though.

Where that ammo is probably going, only a few folks have the cajones to use it.

Attention LEO's... What ammo are you guys carrying?
9teeneleven replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Do you LEO's train and practice with the same ammo you carry? Or do you use the same FMJ range ammo as the rest of us? Or, a little of both? -
Thanks for the input guys. I went with the TA31RCO-M150CP: 4x32 Trijicon ACOG® Army Rifle Combat Optic (RCO). I almost went with the red dot equipped ACOG, but would rather spend the extra $400 on ammo. I plan on mostly shooting paper between 50-500, so I don't see a pressing need for short range sights. I got the MOE M&P 15, so perhaps I will set up the ACOG for quick release, and keep the magpul flip up sights on.

Thanks for the input guys. I've read a couple of comments about the chevron not being great for target shooting, does anyone know anything about that? Willis, that is the best of both worlds. I would love an ACOG with the red dot too, but that is too much $$ for me as I would be stretching to get the ACOG. I was looking at the 4X32 with BAC. This will be going on an M&P 15 with a 16" barrel. Trijicon makes an ACOG for the 14.5" and 20" barrels, should I get the 14.5? I assume that the difference is the bullet drop indicator placements.

I recently came by my first AR rifle, and now would like to get some optics for it. I am leaning toward the ACOG, but honestly would be buying without trying. What are some of the basic pros and cons of this setup. I will be shooting only paper.
