My 5D Tactical Multiplatform Router Jig Pro video
I40Bandit replied to I40Bandit's topic in Show and Tell
Thunderstorm rolling thru screwing up my posting, lol. Maybe I get this one through. The important part (IMHO) on the Ares ruling was the fact that they controlled the premise where that manufacturing was occurring. No where in any law, ruling or clarification paper from ATF has it said you must also own the tools. And truly, AR's are not the business to be in right now if you want to flip, unless you buy low, sit until a Dem is in the White House then sell high. -

I'm certainly not trying to monetize it, and would not recommend anyone try to. No way. I won't provide an unfinished lower, I don't do any of the machining for anyone, and I don't charge. That's a business. Ares in National City is where I physically waked in and purchased my first 80% lowers. -

Oh good Lord, steady my itchy finger. $295 for a complete AR pistol chambered in 5.56. Some milling and assembly required. You can have them assemble the upper. I do my own. https://www.deltateamtactical.com/Davidson-Defense-“Shamrock”-AR-15-Pistol-Upper-Receiver-75”-556-NATO-4150-CMV-1-7T-Barrel-7”-M-Lok-Handguard-Assembled-or-Unassembled_p_9899.html?goal=0_1daae510d2-9df4c0cee6-306479797&utm_campaign=9df4c0cee6-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_07_05_02_47&mc_cid=9df4c0cee6&utm_term=0_1daae510d2-9df4c0cee6-306479797&mc_eid=09d1a83ad0&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Customers -

Well, hell......make your own fixtures then! I'm not trying to sell anyone on anything, just sharing my experience. I've been messing with them for several years. Per BATFE: Held, any person (including any corporation or other legal entity) engaged in the business of performing machining, molding, casting, forging, printing (additive manufacturing) or other manufacturing process to create a firearm frame or receiver, or to make a frame or receiver suitable for use as part of a “weapon … which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive,” i.e., a “firearm,” must be licensed as a manufacturer under the GCA; identify (mark) any such firearm; and maintain required manufacturer’s records. Held further, a business (including an association or society) may not avoid the manufacturing license, marking, and record keeping requirements of the GCA by allowing persons to perform manufacturing processes on blanks or incomplete firearms (including frames or receivers) using machinery, tools, or equipment under its dominion and control where that business controls access to, and use of, such machinery, tools, or equipment.” So, by my understanding if I provided to you the tools for free, and you were nice enough to realize that the router uses brushes, and the cutting mill wears etc. etc and decided to tip or donate towards maint....then that's legal. I'm not in business, nor am I under control of the domain in which they will be used. Laws of course can be changed when 'necessary', and Dems (well, all politicians, really) will always find it necessary to infringe on our liberties. And so I place my bet and roll the bones. -

Slap a different (commercial) lower on the build and you can sell it. If you are willing you could work with a buyer to put whatever lower they want on it. Keep your self-finished lower to build another. I too get bored and cycle through them. I've never done it, but I think you can serialize a lower and sell it (individually or as a full firearm), as long as you did not manufacture it for sale. No idea how they come to that determination. Maybe if you sell more than 1 in a certain period of time.....no idea. I have recouped my investment from friends and family sufficiently. I don't regret the purchase at all and keep ....uuuhhh....some lowers on hand (and accoutrement) in case the wind gets really bad in the future and I need extra paper weights. True, I had a twist in the guts when I hit 'place order'. It went away shortly after receiving the kit. Oh how I want a proper mill and lathe. -

@RED333 To my understanding, no it would not. I do know there are 'finishing parties' where a group will get together at someones house and BBQ, shoot and what not while everyone gets a turn finishing theirs. I have never heard of that being an issue since each person finishes their own. No requirement in the law that states you must also own the tooling/equipment. 5-6 yrs ago when I lived in So Cal there where shops that rented out tools/space and guidance....no idea if that ever netted them a visit. -
Boom, right out of the gate @TGO David nails it! If I had a trophy, it would be yours. PS, I just realized the friggin project name is right there at the top of the Fusion window. DOH!

I am working on a project for myself. I tend to draw things up in Fusion360 before embarking on building things. In the video link below you'll (briefly) see me messing around in Fusion360, demonstrating motion relationships. Your hint is this.....it will be a tool that resides in my reloading room. Pay no attention to the obvious oddity of a spur gear that is rotating the wrong way when the animation is running. I think that's a bug in Fusions animation. You'll see me 'grab' a part and rotate it manually...when doing so the motion are all correct.

Thought I would put up a link to my TubeofYou video regarding the 5D Tactical Router Jig Multiplatform for finishing 80% AR lowers. Hope you enjoy. It took me far more time and effort to produce the video than finish all the lowers, lol. It did net me a custom 50% off code for their store (Up to $125 value) which I used for a couple more ReadyMills and some more lowers

Hello from a little south of ya, and welcome to the site.

Personally I prefer to brew my own beer. I stopped drinking to excess a loooong time ago. Rarely will I have 2 beers in a 24hr period anymore. Coffee and beer....no thanks. Must be a millennial thing or something.

A dash of Irish Cream in the morning Joe probably didn't hurt anyone.

Dillon Super Swage 600 or RCBS 9474 tool?
I40Bandit replied to I40Bandit's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I hear nothing but good about their service too, so it's a draw as near as I can tell with respects to customer service. With out having both tools in front of me it's hard to decide. -
Any reason to choose one over the other? I have both RCBS and Dillon equipment. I have never had to deal with RCBS on returns/warranty/repairs, but have with Dillon and they were stellar. Truly no BS. For that reason alone I would buy the Dillon even though it's a little more costly. Anyone with real use input on the subject? Thanks!

Well, living here it's a long walk TO the beach, lol. Welcome to the site.

Welcome. Would love to see garden pics in the Garden thread. Oh, and your hobbies are now mowing, mowing, shooting and reloading when it's too hot to mow, and mowing some more. Pretty sure mowing is the state past time.
-
Wouldn't that be nice? Winchester SXT's and Speer LE Gold Dot's, fresh every morning. My Dillon 550B is about as close as I can get to a bush that produces them.
-
HOLY COW! This morning I got these (and many more) off the bushes. No photoshop douchebaggery....I've been accused before.... Short video showing they are real and not a photoshop job.

@maroonandwhite Vermiculite is a water holder if you need something to dress in immediately. Available at big box home improvement stores and some nurseries. Peat tends to run off water when it's dry (seems a bit hydrophobic). Once wetted it will wick. You may try a surfactant (a 'water wetter') to help it absorb rather than run off (if you are having that issue).

I just made an acct and tested the first two pics. Thanks @Ronald_55 and @Jamie Jackson will use them instead. Thanks Jamie! The natural materials is cool until you have to rebuild it. I've been doing it a few years now and when you have a failure, you limp through the rest of the year then trench along the retaining wall in the winter to replace bed structure. I put heavy root barrier in as a liner so soil generally doesn't spill out too much if an end comes apart. The trellis stuff is year to year. I rotate crops so trellis gets thrown up accordingly. The 'mill ends' are cheap by the trailer load from a local mill. I just added the 'roof' for the cukes. They are no where near done so I had to come up with more room. Will be cool in a month or 2 when the fruits are hanging.
-
Oh yeah. Current pics. This is not even close to all of it. I had no idea Photbucket would put a friggin GIANT water mark in the middle of my pics. None too pleased. Harvested a bunch of turnip greens this morning....

I've got long arms....as compared to my height. I saw that on another....ummm...."news" site. They had AR parts all lines up on display, stocks, uppers, bolts etc. Upon further inspection I noticed that EVERY AR lower was an unfinished 80%'er. Yep. They seized parts and accessories for about 52 AR's, but they WERE NOT guns yet. So that's how they are playing it up. Granted, most parts and even 80% lowers are subject to export rules and regs and these damn fools were in violation. But, they are selling us hyped up BS by saying they seized 50-some odd AR's. Did you catch that this was in 'Muricas butt hole?....Coward County....err.....Broward. Go figure.

That's TV money right there. DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) printers are not very wide spread (for the DIY guy), yet. You know it's expensive when "price on request" is listed on the printers and even the powdered materials. I think they are around $200,000 and up for a machine like was used for the Iron Man suit. But printing a lower that way might be feasible. I worry about the strength through the mag well area. I don't know what the molecular structure is doing in a powdered metal printer. Not sure if you get a good uniform crystalline structure. But it's freakin' cool!
-
The best way is for a low, low price to me!! Seriously though I agree with Garufa. A serious auction place unless someone here steps up. Wish I could, doing a DuckDuck search yielded some lovely guns, even the plain versions with out engraving are nice. Probably out of my impulse buy price range. Would love a picture. Any idea of value or what you might be asking? I'm not trying to skirt forum rules. Just curious.
