+1 on the Wilderness Tactical belts, while i do not use it most of time for daily wear, that is what we use as our competion belt and in 3 gun that means, pistol and mags, with shotshell holders and AR mag holder and never a issue with the belt sagging or drawing pistol or mags. i do have some leather belts that are thick and stiff.

Caster, thanks it was a my first time at the range with that gun, and was a disappointing day off and on. it has what Stag calls a match trigger and it better than most factory triggers. the 1st stage is long and the 2nd is a tad heavier than i am use to. i do believe i can get it were i want it with not to much work.
-
thanks, yes they are like rockets. there is a picture of it in here some where. i will find it and repost here. i hard a hard time with the wind gust, i may not mess with too much again til after the 3 gun Nation Pro/Am at the end of Augest. trying to learn how too shoot open.
-
thanks, for laughing to yourself, and saying something like i would not have ever post that. there was a lot of wind gust, honest! anyway i forgot about the range of loaded ammo. it goes from 75 grain to 140 grain ammo. there is even Armor pierceing rounds providing that you can show the correct paper work.

this is from a 12 gauge Versa Max, it was clean before the Rockcastle Shotgun championship, somewhere around 400 rounds 99% federal 7.5 and 8's. i did not break down it each night but did run a snake thru it each night and put a little lube on the bolt. it was a 3 day event. event.

i agree that cleaning sucks! but to me (first i need to say for the most part this is in the mine of the owner) running till failure is wrong and causes extra wear. those who have served in the armed forces, know you are always cleaning your weapon during down time, lot of times it is over kill to me. but why run a gun dirty and dry? we do not do your car motors, mowers, whatever that way. both have heat, friction and metal parts rubing against each other. i find it odd but that someone says wait til failure before cleaning (which i would guess includes lube) then say, but not my carry gun. i do understand why it was said, but they are all tools of some kind, playing, work whatever. it just seems like saying if there important then clean, if for fun, hunting etc, then do not worry about it. like i said there is no truely correct answer i do believe, just in the eye of the user. also i do not believe that careful basic cleaning and maintance cannot cause harm to a firearm, NOW being careless and/or stripping a gun beyond your skill level is asking for trouble. just me do whatever makes you happy.

Yes, hopfully that day or the next. they just cost to much. the way i look at it no matter the gun, not cleaning it (to me) is about the same as cleaning it then throwing some grit in the action and blasting away. to me you just shorten the life by increasing wear. keep in mind i am not talk about your bolt deer gun were once a year you shoot 3-5 rounds to check zero then may not shot but 2 or 3 shots the rest of the year. unless caught in rain storm i will clean after season is over. and a quick go over before the zero range.

got to take the 6.8 to range today. the weather was going in and out with the afternoon storms. the wind gave me hell. the rifle shot well but i caught hell with the windage. i sure any descent shooter could have done better, but i we all have our good days and bad on the range. the rifle is a 6.8 Stag Hunter with a 20.75" 1 x 11 twist. Ammo was S.S.A. Barnes 95 grain TTSX BT TAC load, S.S.A. 110 grain Serria Pro Hunter TAC Load and 110 Hornady Match. i could shoot some okay sub-moa groups with the Barnes and Serria. but not the Hornady. my favorite local toy store always has had 6.8 in stock. Silver State makes 2 loads of each 6.8 round they offer a TAC load and a standard load. which i think is nice to have a little extra housepower if you want it. On the down side ammo cost and more recoil. but this is the only rifle i own that i own without a brake or suppresser. on the 200 yards golf ball test (i do not remember which bullet) the 6.8 round is the only round i have shot one with that damaged the golf ball. when the golf ball is shot with a 223 or 5.56 FMJ or a 77 MK 262 type round you just a grease ring on the impact side and on the exit side just a small pin hole. i will let pictures do the talking just do not laugh to hard, lots of mirage and off and on high wind. targets were at 200 and 400 with the 400 yard dope dailed in on best guess. did take a few 300 yard shots just to test the BDC on the scope and it work great for deer size game when just winging it..

just be sure, it would aweful to have a firearm charge, for something like that. be safe and have fun!

i do not think you can legally transport any handgun at 18, no expert, but would have someone in the car at least 21. my boys were shooting IDPA as members of idpa at 12 so you are old enough, but you must be safe enough.

"Now that is a very nice rifle I would love to shoot that", thanks and anytime. i have less than 10 ten rounds thru it. but only till this weekend when i can get to montgomery county range this weekend. because my local farm owner says i have to wait for it to rain again before i shoot there again. i am hoping that it shoot the SSA 140 grain VLD sub M.O.A. because this load is suppose to supersonic out to 1000. the last time i was there (at a 1000 F class match) it was with a 20" 5.56 and it would be sub-sonic at 900 and it made some of the other shooters nervous and promised i would not come back til i had some thing more suited for the task. but to honk my own horn, it took 2 shots to get on paper and for score only 2 misses, 1 X and few tens. -
should have seen the sheds
-
last Saturday 30 June at the Rockcastle shotgun championship a couple vistors stopped at the stage we were at and showed off some sheds and pictures. as i understood it he does not do hunts but keeps studs for breeding. like race horses i guess. anyway he got to try a stage with my M2 and gave this picture. and claimed that one of the sheds was from JR of the one in this picture. no i am not trying sell anything just show off the deer.

i hope this helps some better understand, a little about the point I was trying to make. and like i asked why does most any AR topic here aways has to go to some sort of combat talk or CQB. why not just about how much fun they can be. Anyway the Vortex HS came from a prize table, the mount i had to buy, the bipod i have for several years. the gun was from a prize table in the form of a coupon and i picked the 6.8 hunter. -
ORPCI Multi Gun (2 or 3 gun) this Sat 7/7/12†Our July Multi Gun match is this Sat. (7/7/12). You will again have the option of shooting the match with just rifle and pistol or with all three rifle, pistol and shotgun. Sign-ups opens at 9:00 AM and we shoot at 10:00 AM. The new shooters meeting will be held at 9:30 AM on Bay 2. The stages will not be posted this time. The round count for 3guns will roughly be 79 rifle, 57 pistol, 33 shot, and 4 buckshot. There will be two buckshot paper tgts and the MGM spinner with a bonus if it rotates 360 degrees so bring a few buckshot or heavy loads. The stages will offer options on which tgts may be engages with which guns so the actual round count will vary dependent on which options you choose. The round count for 2 guns will be 79 rifle and ~ 90 pistol. The stage will also offer options on which tgts may be engages with which guns so the actual round count will vary dependent on which options you choose. This match will be a little different. See you at the range ...... GW

when Grant was working/vol at the MC shooting range he had a monthly shotgun match and there was one guy that showed up most of the time. he had one but i think it was 12 or 14" barrel it to was a blast! but you did have to use the full choke to knock the steel over. BUT WHO CARES!!!

just wondering how this keeps coming back to the "world of combat" the black rifle does have other uses. $200 is not much if it works and does not break if it takes a hard impact on a corner. A blown reload or having to pause on a course of fire, can mean NO PRIZE MONEY or being 1 place out winning a Colt CR off the prize table for exsample. no i am not a top tier shooter, but have gotten a few guns off the prize tables over the years. anyone under pressure or not can blow a reload or reload to a bad mag. We each have a surefire mag, as a investment. i may never use mine first i do not know if i can trust it, 3 springs and 3 followers, hmm. also they do not fit into any of my 5.56 lowers, like the Gen 2 Novseke or even my S & W Viking lower because of the mag well. i normally will use a 48 round Pmag but it is long. -
spend a little money and get a scope that will take the pounding. i hunted with a super red hawk for about 20 years or so. there is a big difference from say Wal-Mart white box (yes, i know this just a exsample) and a premium ammo as much as 6" at 75 yards for the P.O.I. and recoil. so have a good idea of ammo you wish to zero with at your long range. just a fix 2x would be great, after 2x say, 6x a deer at 50-75 yards will fill the scope and only useful at the range. i had to quit useing a scope because i got where at 75-100 for was no longer looking through the scope the same way each time and would end up having 2 groups next to each other, so went to a fast fire II with weaver winged mount. also pistol scopes have a very small field of view. with the 454 if you can see it and shoot inside a paper plate at that range you can kill it. also long range what? 454 has the power, but if you are about ten rings, then not the best.

just me but it but let someone else that you know for sure is a good shooter, with strong hands and proper grip and see what happens, it kinda sounds like you maybe limp wristing a little. just me from what learned over time, teaching the wife and kids. also i my 2 cents the 21 is the most prone to stove pipe mine did it a lot and still did it to the guy i sold it too! but he got so good clearing the stove pipe unless you watching very closely you would never know.

A great looking Rifle!

http://magnaport.com/, will do the slide and barrel and it looks at lot a factory 21c. TO ME shooting the 21C at night is not as bad most people say. it will be a blue V shaped flame and curls inwards at the top like a heart.

a M14 NM hmm sure it's not a M1A NM? a long time ago a M14 that had all the National Match parts was not a M14 but a M21 or XM-21 same thing. most sites say max effective range about 800 yards. I promise you if it is a true National Match M21 set-up then you/can be effective to 1000. what gets me if it is what you say then why did someone put a Barska scope on it!
