1. I work 34 miles from where I live. My "get to safe place" bag is a bit different. Between work and home there could be different destinations of safe places as I know others who live in between work and home but it's made to get home. By highway it's 34 miles, in a straight line my calculations bring that down to 26 miles. Though that is across various terrain with varying obstacles, which is the better choice will depend on what exactly is happening to put me in a situation to have to decide and use what I have. Say an EMP, now my vehicle is useless, time to walk BUT will or do I NEED to get home or can I crash at a friend's house for a few days till things chill out. Over 1000 senerios but one main goal, stay alive and figure things out as I can. Back to my bag: My bag is packed for a 5 day light camping trip and it changes with the seasons. Why 5 days, cause it could take 5 days to get home if thats my final destination. Basics like food/water, first aid/medical, proper clothing, shelter equipment, fire equipment, various lights it's all the normal stuff everyone should have but the main thing people seem to forget is knowledge. Knowledge of your city or area to figure out where water is or where u could shelter. Places to avoid. Knowledge of proper use of your equipment. Knowledge skinning various small game animals for extra food. Knowledge of plants/bugs both helpful or hurtful in your region. How to find/build or sustain shelter. No matter your game plan or how long your "bag" is packed for, a curve ball can ruin your chances of returning home or getting to your destination. Being prepared with a pack is one thing, knowing it may not last is where your knowledge will be the most valuable. Tons of information on the interwebz so research and soak up that knowledge. Possibly even test it out....
2. I fish at least 2 or 3 times a week. Always catch and release. Usually I fish out of my kayak but considering Melton lake is 5min away its easy to hit the banks at a whims notice. Occasionally I do get a hankering for some catfish cooked up with my grandmother's recipe but those come out of Norris. I grew up on Norris waters and have my favorite spots to find em....
3. Here's the back of the shirt. Yes, I still have it. Couldn't get rid of it.
4. Been a while since I've been on here. Maybe 10 years or more. The older members and Forum owner will remember the event below. This was a t-shirt made for the event that was sold on here. Good to be back.
5. Looks like a great field tool....gona add one to my gear pack.....however, I thought everyone soaked their BCG before trying to scrape off the gunk.....I soak mine in Precision Clean and then spray with carb cleaner....works like a charm without scrubbing at all. Doesn't hurt anything and I'm done in 5 unmessy minutes.
6. Looks good. How's the trigger?
7. Sorry, the guys a dope and should have been smarter and used common sense while open carrying at 2AM......
8. Now that was funny. The Lego part was great....
9. If you're wanting a 1911 style pistol....consider a 9mm Para Warthog or if 45. is your flavor,  a Para P13 (if you can find one). Para's have a thicker grip that some people feel comfortable with. The pistols are good and often over looked and never mentioned but sometimes they fit better for "those guys with bigger hands".....   Most other pistols choices will be the same that have been mentioned before......truthfully, sounds like you need to hit a fun show...er I mean a gun show and play touchie feelie with desirable pieces of steel or aluminum..... :pleased:
10. Never saw one until now....thought they were just a myth told by the Glock elders.
11. There are a few around here in pawn shops for around $125....I keep wanting another one since I had one as a kid but I always find a better way to spend that $100.....
12.     You hurt my head...too much to read. Bottom line, pending ones situation you can only carry so much and poop happens too often. No matter what you can squirrel away, Mother Nature (or man's stupidity) can take it away. So.....until you can acquire the next firearm be prepared to stone or stab a person if needed. Have fishing line and a hook for food until you can shoot large game again. Just saying "survival" wise, caliber doesn't really matter, as long as you have something...which is better than nothing, since nothing is perfect in life or goes our way when we need it to.......and last but not least, I'm sure I was watching Walking Dead reruns and having a few choice, breath taking beverages last time I posted so don't take what I say to heart and post another novel.....
13.     Anyone who wouldn't believe you would be set straight by the rest of us. :pleased:   I have a poly lower I plan to use as my "light weight" minimalist AR build......still haven't figured out the upper build part yet. Still collecting information before I start slinging cash for parts.....   Some good looking rifles here.....
14. Here's the hard truth that should stop this nonsense of "what would be the best caliber" in a SHTF situation.....   Caliber or type of firearm during a SHTF situation won't matter because it'll end up being what ever we can get our hands on when what we have runs out or stops working. I won't care if it's a .22lr or a .50AE....I'll take it and use it to the best of my ability to continue to live and protect my loved ones. Stop worrying about what will be the best because the best won't last for long when the world comes to an end. Instead, learn what you need to be able to do to survive without a firearm because you may end up not having one. Sticks, stones, bows and arrows may be the only tools we have to work with so broaden your horizons and learn all you can about survival with minimal supplies and weapons.

Glock Issue

No issues like that with my Gen 4 G26. Never had an issue since new and I have about 800 rounds through it.......
16. My favorite and only pocket carry/ BUG is a Keltec P32.
17. I had a Lorcin once.......380. Looked a lot like that. Up at Norris with the guys and took the first shot from this brand new gun. It fired the round and locked the breech. Took a 5lb sledge to bust it loose. The casing fell out with the extractor and the casing wasn't bulged or damaged. The internals some how broke and locked it up upon the first round being shot. Glad it was a freebie....
18. It happens to some....the Glock catches your soul.....turns you against the rest....makes you crave the plastic.....little demonic black pistols.......
19. The one I had is posted in the AK pic thread. I liked it but I thought the square forend was a bit awkward and large for me and the thumb hole stock didn't fit right for me either. Swapping mags wasn't to bad once you got the hang of it. Neat rifle over all. Kinda wish I would have kept it. Someone on here got a great rile a few years back for a great price compared to what they run for now....
20.     This says it all. Seen many long shots made with larger targets.
21. PICS!!!!!!  Wish I could pick one up around here at that price. I wish I would have kept mine.....as we all say.
22. Sweet......
23. I grew up on revolvers and my uncle had an old war  Colt 1911 handed down to him. It rattled when you shook it no lie but it never failed to shoot. I know I took out many a JFG coffee cans along with various biscuit and flour boxes and no telling how many times it was actually shot before I had it in my hands at 12yrs old. It's what headed me down the 1911 road. When time came to purchase that faith full carry piece, I was drawn to 1911's. I ended up choosing a Kimber Pro Carry II and nothing but wonderful times with it. No failures to do anything and went bang every time. Then came time to start learning defensive drills and other tactics. Out of all my failures it came down to one simple thing for me in the end. Being used to revolvers, I never had a safety nor did I have to squeeze the grip tighter than comfortable with. I was given a G19 to try and it all went down hill from there. Taking the safety step out of things made sense to me with pistols since being taught to keep the finger off the trigger at a young age with revolvers. To this day, the only safety levers are on my rifles....   I've shot many 1911's over the years courtesy of different folks including TGO'ers, expensive ones and cheap ones....I'd have to say an old Auto Ordinance 1911 of my friends is the best I've ever shot. I like 1911's and they are awesome but I've gotten comfortable with Glocks like many have gotten comfortable with 1911's or Sig's or CZ's or Smiths....
24. Here's a few I've had over the years.... Does this count?? What about this??
25.     Works both ways though....criminals are known to be stupid so in theory it should work both ways.
