  1. There will be people saying that the .40 can do "this" as the 9mm can't. Ehh...maybe, but in normal SD situations a 9mm is fine. Ammo for the 9mm is cheaper and definatly more available as of right now. I also like the Springfield vs. the S&W because of the triggers on the XD's seem smoother and lighter.....though opinions vary. In other words, you can't really go wrong with either so get the one that fits your hands the best.
  2. I would hope that his tackle box was not left on the shore while he was wading as that is totally irresponsible, especially if teens or kids walk around. That kind of stuff is just STUPID. Anyone could have very easily taken the gun, shot him and left. Who'd know if anyone wasn't around?? Pure stupidity. Now, I haven't had the chance to fish much this year but anytime I'm out side my home on a "nature" scurry, you can bet I'm armed and almost always carry IWB/CC. Oak Ridge has had 2 black bear sightings in the past week alone. There are woods where I live along with nature trails. Along those trails and in the woods live creatures I'm more scared of than a man. I'm armed even if it is just to shoot a snake, much less if it turned out to be a bear or a coyote.
  3. Oh snap....so true, so true.
  4. I may OC at the house, but I always have from day one CC'd. All but 2 of the hundred or so holsters I've bought and tried over the years have been IWB's. I have a Fobus and a leather Safariland paddle holster and they collect dust more often than not...... I personally do not care what others do. I have enough to worry about already without adding a persons choice of OC or CC or trained or not trained. It's so much easier to assume everyone is an idiot and has no clue as to what they are doing and work on being prepared for their stupidity. Just sayin......no offense to my TGO friends and fans. BTW.....all 9mm rounds are weak sauce. If you ain't got a .50cal, well you're just wussy girl man with your junk tucked.
  5. That is a funny way of putting it,.
  6. I'm sorry you've had issues with yours. I've had 2 of them over the past 3 years and both have functioned flawlessly. Hope you get the bugs worked out.
  7. You really need to rethink this. Simple cover behind a wall or couch while crouching and ALREADY having your front sight on one of the intruders is more than suffecient for barrier protection. You fire the first shot on the first guy and the second guy will have to figure out where you are, turn and attempt to shoot at you. If you are a sloppy shot, you still can get up to 4 rounds off before the second guy is fully turned. Even if you miss all 4 shots to the second guy, he will more than likely be running for cover himself or running out of the house. Remember, most "general" burglers will run, not fight. I simply say, get into position, make your presence known by saying what ever, and then determine if shooting is necessary. With them being in my home without my concent, I have already determined that they are a threat but to what extent depends on what I can see or what their actions deptic.

    What's the Law ?

Adding to what OhShoot said, the "county" can treat each situation different. For example, there were a bunch of us TGO members shooting safely in Blount County. A "close proximity" neighbor tried to gripe about the noise and called the cops. Truthfully, quite a few local residences called the local county PD......and the BCSD came, checked us out, found us to be safe AND LEGAL and left us alone after that. Now, even though we were in a safe location, if we looked to be "impaired" or "shooting/acting unsafe", the police can do just about anything they want because after all, you have a gun and they can consider you a threat. No doubt they can shut you down and haul you off. If you are shooting squirels in your garden and there is a home in the general direction you are shooting, they can shut you down. When a firearm or shots are inolved, you better believe most any cop will be nervous and twitchy so you will dictate how they will react by how you present yourself in that situation.
  9. In order to understand how much or how little you "love" something, let it go. Then you will either do anything to get it back or to get another one. I've had quite a few pistols go through my hands over the years. I always said once I get a Kimber I'd keep it forever. Well, I've had 3 Kimbers and I've turned around and sold them all. The only pistol I can truely say I love and that I won't get rid of has been my 9mm Glocks. I've always had a G19 and a G26. I let my origional 3rd gen G26 go when I bought my gen 4 but have no regrets since it's basically the same gun. I've let so many "keepers" and "safe queens" go over the years it's silly but if I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to purchase my "next love" or the one after that or the one after that......

    H&K usp 9mm

I've had 2 pass through my hands over the years. Don't get me wrong but I'm not a fan of H&K. Their weapons I've owned have been flawless in their operation but they just don't "fit" me or my hands to well. I have a few friends who swear by theirs but they've never had any issues with'em. I'd say if the price is right, you'll be happy.
  12. Mine is a hodgepodge of stuff. DPMS barrel, bolt/carrier, Surpluss Ammo and Arms lower with a killer super double awsome Dolomite trigger kit, gun show special flat top upper, CCA rear flip sight, YHM front flip sight gas block, Aimpoint PRO, Magpul furniture, Houge grip. Finally got it running good and reliable with steel ammo thanks to Dolomite Supafly, now I guess I need to actually try some long range shots to see what it'll do.....
  13. I hope someone pops one of my veins with Opium then tosses me from a plane at 20K feet so I can fall backwards staring at the sky with Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' blaring through a set of head phones............................ ................................ ................................ ................................ .............................. .................................... .................................... .............................. .............................splat before the songs over. Never feel it.
  14. So....just for poops n giggles.....say they don't eat us.....say they start ripping body parts off for pure destructive purposes of ensuring death to our "kind". What then? Always expect the unexpected, be aware of your surroundings and for your personal saftey's sake, ALWAYS KEEP YOUR GUNS LOADED!!
  15. I'd have to agree with OhShoot on this one.......IF a crime was committed, my lawer will be the first one I speak to. If I did nothing but legally defend myself or my family, I will answer questions and breifly discuss what happened before I'm taken to the hospital as requested for examanation from a tramatic situation. I believe by speaking and explaining the situation, you will help "paint" yourself in the legal light vs. trying to have cops or detectives determine what happened and discover possible shady details.
  16. I've been asked more times while in a conversation vs. being noticed by someone but the few times I've OC'd and been asked I've said things like, "For your saftey and the saftey of others." or "Why do cops/military carry a gun?" or "Police can't be every where all the time." and I've even said "Saftey First, not last."
  17. ........then you have the people who wear glasses and/or have bad sight in general. I personally have given much thought to my situation and abilities. I wear glasses and IF the glasses are broke, I couldn't see much past 100yrds anyways. If I can't see it, I can't hit it. Therefore, the terrain I'm surrounded with and my "semi-disability" of sight issues, I decided on an Aimpoint. I have tried many different RDS and the Aimpoint does it for me. While one could argue that fact that with a scope one could easily see distances without glasses, I doubt I'd have time to "scope" out the terrain while on the move and doubt I'd even be able to see or hit something out that far. 200yrds or less is what I'm confortable with.......I can't stay still for long so I'd always have to be on the move anyways. To tag me, you'll have to snipe me. I wouldn't know if it happened so I'm good with that......
  18. No, I was trying a "lefty's" approach with a bug. Lefty holster right behind my spare mag. Worked out decent but it isn't a feesable thing to do all the time. Looking at different options.
  19. Why is the sky blue? Why is the grass green?? Why do people choose ammo and guns over their wives?? Why ask why?? Approval, appreciation and brotherhood (sisterhood)....that's why we do what we do. Most everyone here HAS their opinions but more often than not it's the person who suffers by taking advice without researching first.
  20. I don't like most of the Taurus line. I do like the Beretta clone series and the 1911's. The revolvers have pretty good reputation but they are revolvers. Most of their guns are just plain ugly.....then again people hate Glocks because they look like bricks. There will never be one manufacture that wins us all over....
  21. .357 revolver type co2 Pellet pistol. Picked one up at Wally World....definatly a fun way to spend an evening splattering bee guts everywhere. The wife thought i was nuts till she tried to hit one. Took her a bit but she finally got one....I was kinda proud when she said that was cool.

    Ants!

I have found more mounds in my yard this year than normal. I'm talking like 20 more than usual for the time of year. They are everywhere! I would almost swear that my back yard is the roof of a very large ant colony. All black, not red. matter of fact, I haven't seen a red ant this year. I have the sprinkle stuff and the spray stuff for the house......can't wait to kill'em.
  23. C R A Z Y........and cool as hell. Would love to see it in person.
  24. I have all 9mm glocks.....so I buy as I see fit. I have 7 G19 & G17 mags and 4 G26 mags at this moment in total. If deals occur I'll buy more. But I have enough for the number of Glocks in the house. Rifle mags are the same way. My EDC is a G26 with the 12rnd extention mag and a spare G19 mag on me as my "malfunction mag".....in the car, I have 2 G17 mags loaded along with 2 20rnd boxes of ammo stashed. IF the situation occurs that I have to AND CAN fight my way to my vehicle, I have the satisfaction knowing I can reload and still be able to defend myself in the future if needed. Just trying to be smart with out being overboard carrying more weight than needed every day.
  25. The only "scare" I had caused me a major migrane headache and stiff/sore arm and shoulder muscles for a day or so and a sore throat from breathing through my mouth intensely. However, I could hardly seem to remember "details", just generally what happened. I was out in the public and I had nothing for the police and could not inform them of any descriptions of the persons or vehicle involved. The only way they knew I wasn't lying was the fact that I was still very visably shaken and could hardly pronounce words correctly as my lips and face looked flush and were kinda numb.
