  1. The absolute key to any new rifle is to go shoot it. Not just plinking but actually shooting it using your skills so you can get to know your limits with the rifle. Congrats on the AR and good to hear about D&T's great service.
  2. I think 2 30rnd coupled mags are just a better idea all around for combat vs. one of these.........BUT......... if Zombies were walking around, would it be better to have 3 of these or 5 30rnd PMags? Close to same weight, same ammount of ammo.......to bulky? Sucks for mag changes? Heavier? There may be one small advantage somewhere....just haven't found it yet.
  3. I've tried many things over the years for work, razor knives, utility knives even small limb saw knives for work. Simply put, many don't hold up for more than a month and changing blades wastes my time because I have to do it so often along with getting the replacements when I run out. So....I have found that I run into cheap knives super duper often and it's just as easy to buy one when I need one. Keep in mind, that's only my work knives as I have others for my "civilian" life....
  4. I was thinking about comming out with the daughter on Saturday just to say "hey" since ya'll are in my back yard but she refuses to leave the house this weekend after a taste of yesterday. I told her she's not gona be happy with the weather for the next few days..... Be carefull in the heat ladies and gentlemen.....
  5. I really like this.....Never thought about EDCing a fixed blade. Hmm.....gona have to rethink things.
  6. I need the serations to cut plastic tie wraps on crates along with rope, canvas, rubber and tons of other crap.....I'll fiddle with it when I get it and get it working right. Well, seems for the price point you ought to just get another one. If I really like it, I'll more than likely buy a few more for future use seeing as how any knife usually doesn't last to long in my hands.
  7. Ehh...to each their own. I personally wouldn't bother buying any of those lowers and would pass on a complete rifle if the lower was with it......Hopefully enough people will voice their opinion on Facebook and they will listen to the public masses BEFORE producing these.
  8. On your general "praise" I just bought the serrated version of this knife on Ebay. Should have it by Tuesday. Then I'll abuse it at work like I do all my knives and report back. Most knives don't last more than a month or two for me so I tend to use the cheaper knives for that reason. I got tired of replacing my Spyderco Endura and others at $80 to $100 a pop every few months or so.
  9. If you know someone who is a Zombie freak, this would make a great b-day or Christmas or friendship gift at a great price. These are novelty items just like any other gift you'd buy so snag one and make your fellow Zombie lover happy!!
  10. No....that wasn't me....There goes your memory again. I didn't bring anything to sell that day at Dubbs shoot.
  11. I had my 2 metal 20 rounders last time we were at Norris when Dolomite was workin' on my AR. You even held them both and commented that you thought they were 10 rounders. You're memory is slippin'.......I think I got mine from Cheaper than Dirt. They're out of them right now but here's the link. http://www.cheaperth...roduct/MAG-0691
  12. I sold my P2022 2 months ago....it was a fantastic gun for it's price range. Not being a Sig expert I think I can fairly say that IF you are wanting a pistol for competetion I would not get the P2022. If you wanted it for the range or as a carry piece at a great price, I say go for it. I really liked my P2022 and it was accurate as all Sigs tend to be but I'm pretty positive it wouldn't be the best choice for any competetion.....
  13. I'd give him diamonds and a sling shot as long as he got results.....just aim for the left eye.
  14. Dolomite, my questions were answered. The more I read on the subject, it seemed that no matter what grain I was using, a 1/7 twist would do nothing more than pierce through the target vs. tumble after impact out of a 16in barrel and that CQB ranges were out of the question and all because there was no loss of velocity at CQB ranges. I thought but misunderstood that you needed to loose velocity to "accuate" the tumbling effect with a fast twist rate....that's where I was getting confused. Not sure why I was misunderstanding or confusing the information but for some reason I was. Sometimes the more you read and look at technical data, the more crosseyed you get.......
  15. Either bump the sight over or really try to work more on your trigger pull......other than that you shouldn't have a problem hitting a Zombie if needed. I'd let you be on my team.
  16. Dolomite's touched on this subject many times on here and I've tried to pay attention to it all. However, with all of the information I've read I still get jumbled up on what grain should be used for what twist rate. Well, we all know with people being different, we all set up our AR's a bit different. Some have the "plain jane" with iron sights, others add a reddot and others go for "distance" set ups. So since we all set up our AR's differently for different reasons, I'd like to have a break down OR disscussion on what grain should be used for the twist rate for how the weapon is set up. Example: An AR with a 1/7 twist set up for CQB should use what grain for maximum effectiveness and why? Is this set up is not usefull or "safe" to use as a CQB rifle? Compare the same set up with a 1/9 twist. An AR set up for general plinking or hunting. Advised twist rate and grain for effectiveness. I know differences in lengths of barrels help/hurt in these situations as well so please discuss the differences for the usefullness of lengths needed to acheive an effective rifle. Now, to show everyone how big of a fool my ego let me be, my first AR was a pieced together hodge podge of stuff collected from friends and put together. Dolomite helped me get it running absolutly smooth as silk. Now, this thing shoots great at the range. My 100yrd shots have improved with the Aimpoint but I'm using basic 62gr at the range. At home I have a mag full of Sierra 77gr for the bumps in the night. The more I read, no matter what type of bullet I use, it seems my sweet first AR build is worthless in its current state as a CQB rifle. (thank god I have rifles in other twists) Should I put a scope on it and use it more for "distance" or is it a pretty much worthless upper to have built?? I want to understand these issues better so I and others can understand if we build a rifle one way or the other we can still get maxium effectiveness at close range or distance pending twist rate or grain used.
  17. Thats the thing....most of us will never see any type of hard core battle anyways. I'd even fare to say that unless WW3 erupts most everyone's "cheap" AR will last a life time. Also remember, most people will sell or put thier rifle in the safe and buy something they deem better if they like the AR platform....
  18. I think he needs some type of muzzel device.....really, no kidding, seriously.
  19. No doubt, hands down the best "black rifle" out there for the money for first timers that's prebuilt with what you NEED....
  20. I chose to build my first one from parts from friends. With Dolomites help in the long run it now runs like a top. I've put near 500 or so flawless rounds out of mine in both .62gr and 55gr (brass/steel cased) thanks to his knowlege and ability to trouble shoot and fix the issues. Now, had I really paid attention and not been such a dork forceing my ego to build my first one, I definatly would have flat out bought a S&W Sport. I've now got about $800 into my rifle with all the gear I want and an Aimpoint PRO.....still, I feel I should have just bought a Sport. Nothing wrong with my AR and i's solid, but for my first "just getting into the world of AR's" I should have bought a Sport. Have I said that I should have bought a Sport?? Just get a Sport......if you can find one.
  21. Regarding your Sig quesion about the SRT trigger....yup, it's definatly worth it in my opinion. I don't currently own a Sig but I've had close to a dozen or so over the past few years and I definatly like the SRT triggers vs. the "factory" norm. Truthfully, as others have said, IF you can, shoot as many as you can and see which one you are confortable with.
  22. Nice...comming along fast. Get pics up of the CF tube...
  23. Interesting that Google brought you here out of all the millions of websites. Glad you made it though. Definatly a sweet shotty.
  24. They are neat...untill you realize you've gone through 6 mags in less than 30 seconds. Mike.357 has bump fired his AK by hand just about as fast as I've see these things work. For the price of them and the expense of the ammo you COULD put down range for fun, it isn't worth it for me. These days, my ammo isn't worth wasting if I can help it.
  25. Interesting. Glad someone looked into it. Though about getting one of the "plinkin" conversions but many have said to just buy a didicated upper because of the accuracy vs. the conversion. I think you just proved why....
