Congrats on the G19. Had a few of them myself and am looking for another one in the Gen 4 flavor to compliment my Gen4 G26. Good luck and I hope you end up keeping the kool-aid handy. Just take a sip every time someone mentions Glock and you'll be just fine.....

Armalite.....the 1/9 twist is more versitle.

Personally, I don't care which is worse. If I ever see anything of the sort on the street, I will know the world is ending. It's then my passion to stay alive to see that world "end" come.........if possible of course.

Years ago, back in the late 90's when I worked for KnoxAir, I used to love refueling the Apaches'. KnoxAir having the military refueling contract allowed me to fuel F18's, F16's, Harriers', A-10's and many other fighter jets along with just about every branch of trainer aircraft and all choppers from all branches of the military. It really was a sweet job. ......those were the days....

I have yet to find that old geezer....still lookin' though.

My first rifle was a .22lr revolver, and my second was a .22lr rifle. Both were by the age of 8. By the age of 14, I had shot enough various firearms that I was allowed to keep a single shot 12ga in my room. After turning 16, my father gave me free run and use of any of the rifles or pistols in the house.....why, because not only was I trustworthy, but had taken a few "saftey" courses by then and had shown proper use of the weapons.... I say go ahead if you think your son can and will be safe with it......

Looks great to me. Now do the rest of the rifle and post pics.....

The first two guns, you speak of are .22 revolvers....however, I suggest you research a bit more on "trigger accomplishments" of gunsmiths of all types, makes and models. What you will find is your answer to "pre-travel" and "over-travel" on many if not just about all the firearms out there. Not just revolvers or autos or rifles but crossbows and other "trigger fired" items. You don't have to have a $2500 firearm to have a great trigger nor do most people spend that much on them. Just sayin.... I own a 19-2......twas my Papaw's service weapon for Knox City/County. It is a great revolver and glad it got passed down the family line. It's one that will never leave, but be passed down to my kids.

Not true. Many can make their "auto" triggers just like a revolvers, many just don't choose to do so as they carry thier "autos" and don't want a hair trigger. So many options these days for trigger jobs and with different spring rates from trigger to firing pin to recoil springs, revolver triggers aren't 1000 times better nor do you have to have "multi-thousand" dollar guns to get such a trigger in an auto. With that being said, I had a S&W 586 that I sold on here a while back that had the crip clean break trigger most competetion people would love. DA or SA the trigger pull on it was fantastic and it definatly was a one helluva shooter. I'm not a huge revolver guy but I know they have and have had their place in history. Revolvers are great but just like auto's, there isn't a one beats the other over all

Some people want to have their firearms to look "pretty" or to give the impression that "it costs more because it looks that good". To each their own. Over the years I've had tons of different handguns and "tried" them all. My first handgun was a Kimber ProCarry II. Why....because I thought not only did it look good but I had to have a .45acp. Well, the Kimber didn't work out for me as well as others didn't. I've had Sigs, M&P's, Beretta's, Taurus', Rugers, Para's and even had a Springfield XD. They are all fine weapons and all were reliable. Some felt good while shooting and others didn't. I was never interested in the block called 'Glock" untill my wife insisted she have a G19 for herself. After shooting it I realizied that the G19 was almost a perfect fit for me. The more I thought about it and researched, my thoughts and feelings changed over time as to what I would actually need a pistol for. I don't need a range queen nor do I care to have one that looks "nice" and not be able to enjoy it when playing in the mud. Soooo.....it all came down to Glocks and the fact that they aren't pretty, they fit my hands well and are easy to shoot, clean and service. I have learned to use firearms Iike I would a tool. A wood worker practices with his wood working tools to improve his technique.....which is what I do with my Glocks. I could care less if a bit of mud or dirt get on or in my Glock. I don't care to shoot my Glock in the rain. I have tossed my Glock in a mud puddle, swirl it around and then shoot it to prove a point to others whom say Glocks are worthless....still I haven't seen anyone toss their 1911 or M&P or other handgun into a mud puddle to prove a point to me. I figured in the long run, IF there ever was a time I needed my weapon for a "war" or "zombie" senerio I wanted something I knew would not only be reliable but could hold out in the long run under harsh "uncleaned" conditions. Yes, many handguns can fit that bill but many aren't brave enough to do that with something that costs more than the usual Glock does......JMHO

Very cool and very sweet. The wife even commented on it and thinks its "pretty". I'd like to see that in a mid-length and rifle length wood as well.

Oh wow....... ......nasty little scratch you incurred. Glad to see they tossed some string and superglue on it. My question is........where's your Strawberry Shortcake band-aid?? Hmmmm??

Sometimes that night, sometimes life won't let me for a couple of days. With some of us, we could go a year without cleanning because we only run a few hundred to 1k rounds through it...others run 500 or more per outing. I don't think it'd hurt most of us to skip a few cleannings a year just cause we could.

That's so pretty....err uhmmm...handsome I just had to quote it again. You always have some neat stuff....and that thing had to cost more than my car did.

Actually, I plan on looking at a few different models. Remember, I have my work knives and my "carry" knives.....I personally enjoy carrying a fine piece of cutlery around that's not seen the life of ripping, tearing, prying, slashing, stabbing or that has ever been used to "chip" with....that's just how I roll.
-
Well, my RAT model 1 arrived. I do have to say that the fit and finish and feel of the knife is really awsome. Damn surprised I like it this much...so much in fact, I'm gona get a couple more for future. This knife is really a hidden gem. Glad OhShoot and others in this thread posted about them. Definatly gona check out a few other of the folders mentioned on here. Not a huge knife guy but I've never gone a day from the age of 12 without one.

Ok.....so why don't we see precision shooters using 50rnd mags? If you're shooting off the "bench"....why even worry about the ammount of rounds you can contain in a mag....you're sitting on your butt....just load the mags and be done with it. There is nothing this 50rnd mag does that 2 30rnd mags or even a 20rnd and 30rnd coupled together can do. This thing has no practical advantages in the world of combat. -
The absolute key to any new rifle is to go shoot it. Not just plinking but actually shooting it using your skills so you can get to know your limits with the rifle. Congrats on the AR and good to hear about D&T's great service.

I think 2 30rnd coupled mags are just a better idea all around for combat vs. one of these.........BUT......... if Zombies were walking around, would it be better to have 3 of these or 5 30rnd PMags? Close to same weight, same ammount of ammo.......to bulky? Sucks for mag changes? Heavier? There may be one small advantage somewhere....just haven't found it yet.
