  1. That is incredible! Awesome skill! Wow.
  2. You are far from alone on this.   AIWB and pocket for me. Along with "other stuff".
  3.     My Pleasure Erik...I was just ribbing you my friend. I ran across that one before as well.  :pleased:
  4.     Where did that come from?     No Sir...this one: http://www.amazon.com/Day-Wrath-William-R-Forstchen-ebook/dp/B00MU1NNRO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422489152&sr=8-1&keywords=dies+irae+day+william+Forstchen   188 pages in paperback...quick read, but pretty darn good.
  5. Welcome Chris. and Thank you for your service Sir.
  6. Welcome to TGO. :hat:
  7. Let us know what you think of "Dies Irae: Day of Wrath".     It's making the circle of friends as a loaner right now...disturbing and highly likely book.
  8. Thank you Cap!  And a Thanks to Todd as well.   I did join NFAFA as soon as I learned of it, and I encourage as many as can to do so as well. It's money well spent imho. I don't even own any NFA items, but I do want my Rights restored.   I agree this will be a challenge, but so was the change brought about to our antiquated knife laws... it happened!
  9. EFAD is excellent ttocswob. I'll take a look at the Grey Man series. Thank you.     suspiciousmind...Welcome to our "groupthink" LOL. It kinda makes you consider potentials you might not have otherwise. And that's a good thing. :pleased:   imho it's not paranoia to recognize reality. But it is a great motivation for enhancing  your independence Good Sir.       I'm with you hipower...not great, but I enjoyed both books nonetheless.
  10.   It's clear plastic .   As I mentioned above, it's decent (and currently affordable) practice ammo. I've never had reliability issues with it. Not sure where you're going with the water getting into it...it'll get wet if you leave it out in the rain.
  11. PSA has this as one of their daily deals. $6.99/25 rounds. Not bad if you have a need.     http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/deals/daily-deals-new/estate-00-2-3-4-buckshot-25rds-1127n0.html
  12. I received this e-mail earlier today...seriously? 5 K?   I appreciate the role this gun played in firearms development. But certainly a quality functioning replica could be manufactured here in the U.S. if the demand was there...for less than 5 grand... :ugh:
  13. I'd like to share my thoughts as someone who has had some professional training, but even more so as someone that has been in the Medical year for more than 4 decades.   Randy gave some sage advice here.   No...rendering care to someone that just tried to kill me would not be my first priority, nor would you be held negligent by not rendering that care. (This doesn't mean there wouldn't be a civil suit brought against you...there usually is at the very least, that consideration...but that isn't the time or place to let it enter your mind.)     We were taught (Tac Med Course / CONTOMS directed) that you 1st secure the area and all hostiles when the shooting appears to be over. Cover the badguy until they are secured/cuffed. Then and only then can EMS even enter the scene. We were taught that even when moving in to render care to a downed officer to first and foremost secure their hands, remove their weapons, and while another individual covered you, render care to them...for the very reason Randy mentioned above.   When a standing person is hit/shot, they may well drop their blood pressure... low pressure = lack of cerebral perfusion...they hit the ground...returning their cerebral blood flow...back into the fight. I've seen it happen as an EMT, I've seen it happen in the ER I work in. (obviously not a shooting...but unconscious back to full blown fight mode in a heartbeat).   Morally, of course you don't want someone to die, even if they were trying to kill or main you. You want to stop that violent behavior. If they die as a consequence of their bad behavior then it's on them. Their choice.     But I urge everyone to seek and obtain professional training whenever you can. A wise man once told be that "Training needs to be Recent,Relevant, and Realistic". It's that training that may well keep you alive and allow you the luxury of discussing the merits of said training with your friends.   I wouldn't let anything deter me from seeking professional training. I can only see positives from it.   Just my :2cents: worth.
  14. OK KahrMan...I raise you one George Clintion! :woohoo:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJvjWh2Vhu4
  15.     I too think this would be a great idea..and Thanks for considering it David.   Just an observation, and being a caster and handloader I know I'm biased...but I read a lot of posts where folks are asking great questions about getting started in such. We have some incredible subject matter experts (Dolomite / Gordon comes to mind)  and experienced members (Leroy perhaps?) that share invaluable information with the novitiates. So maybe a Handloading How-To series could be considered. Just a thought.
  16. Excellent post Leroy. Sage advice.   Every novice or soon to be handloader should read Leroy's post imho.       I have a Dillon and it gets used a lot...but I spent my first 3 or so years on an old Lee single to learn the ins & outs. I still use that same press frequently and it's over 25 years old. It's served me well.
  17. Welcome aboard Submariner! Glad to have you aboard...from a former dry-land sailor.  :pleased:
  18. My Gen 3 19 is my constant carry companion.   I'm not surprised Glock still introduce a small single stack 9mm... but I am a bit bummed by it. I had high hopes tons of people would rush out and buy one and I could then pick up one of their 9mm Shields for less than nothing! What's a fella to do?
  19.     I believe they offer free shipping for first time customers...   One of my shooting buds shoots a lot of their ammo... 5.56, 9mm, and 45acp. Good stuff from what I see.     They also off a "Deal of the day".  http://www.freedommunitions.com/dealoftheday.asp
  20. It would have most likely been fine. As mentioned above, it's pretty easy to determine when you can physically see it. I still have a couple of those red cans of 3031 and shot about 20 rounds of 5.56 I loaded with it last week. I purchased that powder in 1991.   I'm glad he so far away from me and I didn't know about it until it was being discussed. Whew! Saved me some bucks! :pleased:
  21. Sweet! And for MSRP of $15.95? Why not? :pleased:
  22. This is great info stumpy. Thank you!   I would like to, plan to actually, try this powder with 7.62x39 down the road. Would you mind sharing the general charge range you used?   I also load for my 336 (.30-30) and hadn't even considered this powder for that application. Good to hear.   I've had AA2230 on backorder from MidSouth for over a year now, which is why I picked up this H335 when it became available through them.I am very pleased I did.   Much obliged for the info.
  23. Greetings and Welcome to TGO John. :hat:
  24. Thank you Leroy.   I had seen on several reload data sites where folks were using powder charges greater than 25 grs in bolt guns without issues and having good accuracy results. I greatly appreciate the firsthand information.   As I mentioned, I was pleasantly surprised with the casual accuracy achieved during my chrono session. I'm certain I'll edge up a bit towards 25.5 grs just out of curiosity, but I'll definitely load up more rounds at 25 grs and test out the accuracy potential...as usual the problem will be that the rounds work out better than the shooter. LOL.      btw...is the powder you're referring to when you said "The other "pet" load was 26.5 grains of Ball C2"  Hodgdon BL-C(2)?  https://www.hodgdon.com/rifle.html   Options are a very good thing these days!  Thanks again.   ...
  25. Welcome to Free America. You choose wisely.   We like things that "go boom" as well. :pleased:
