  1. E-mails out to the Senate Judiciary Committee members and an e-mail of Thanks to Senator Bell.   And Thank you JohnC.
  2.     From my admittedly limited experience (I've only fired one of those), That is one of the most inherently accurate handguns Sig ever made. The heel mag release didn't bother me in the least.
  3. Believe it or not a Star PD. Alloy frame, no friggin' grip safety and one of the smoothest single action GM type pistols I've ever shot. PIA because of the proprietary magazines it used and the small plastic guiderod buffer it required about every 1000 rounds...I shot it a lot...and carried it a lot. I sold it in the late 90's...so no pic.   rep pic: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=469804060   I've since "gone Glock" and 9mm...but it was a nice little gun. :pleased:
  4. I was thinking OMG initially as well. My bad...I too am out of the loop and that is in fact a good price for 45acp these days.   Good for you JPR.
  5. willis;   Thanks for "doing the work" on this and the update and clarification.   It's good to know that beyond my personal experiences with Benchmade (excellent so far) that they are still (again) adhering to quality standards.   As mentioned in my first post, I am rather fond of my Griptilian...and I have an AFCK I picked up at Gunsite in 1992 that is one heck of a smooth and ergonomic knife as well.   The AFO's look nice btw. Tempting... :pleased:
  6.     Thanks David. I just put it in my Amazon "wish list".   I have Stoeger's "Dry-Fire Training: For the Practical Pistol Shooter" and it should arrive tomorrow (it's too friggin cold for my old bones to be outside right now)..."Twilight in America" will be next in line.   I've seen news snippets over the past several years about these camps. It would be foolish to totally dismiss the potentiality of such...not being disrespectful towards anyone with a differing opinion...but these are in fact "interesting times"...
  7.     Looking forward to some feedback on the new IMR powders Omega.
  8. It is amazing. The missus & I were at Walmart Sunday and already the milk and bread were selling out...   So...Just in case you folks know someone that picked up excess bread and milk...here a kickass Bread Pudding recipe. :pleased:     http://www.landolakes.com/recipe/1914/old-fashioned-bread-pudding-with-vanilla-sauce   Man...I hope they grabbed some raisins too!
  9. Did I miss something? There were zombies on SNL?   I'm personally liking this new direction. And OS was right, the despair was quite palpable. imho it's despair that's a true killer.
  10. Very Nice kidd!  Thank you.
  11. You were indeed fortunate. I have great respect for Tom Givens, and the Tac Conferences, so I am not surprised in any way that they would make that offer. I would be surprised if someone took one of Claude Werner's classes and wanted a refund.   Michael de Bethencourt is another person I would like to train under. He has done some remarkable course development in knife work and small gun deployment. I can't recall the name of the video, but I watched one of his on knife work that seemed extremely effective and pretty darn brutal...but that would be the "nature of the beast" as they say.
  12.     Mr Werner's snubby class is right at the top of my "Training Wish List".     I hate that the Feb class didn't make, but look forward to what the future brings.
  13. Thanks for the link ggwilde.   I signed the petition and e-mailed Corker, Alexander and Duncan.   We all need to be a thorn in their sides on this.
  14. I haven't tried it, but have been following this thread on B.E. for a bit now. They speak favorably of this powder and give some good load development info for 9mm and .40 cal.   8 lbs of powder actually goes pretty darn quickly... :ugh:
  15. I didn't know this about Benchmade either...now take this with a grain of salt and consider it's a "wiki" link, but the claim is that Benchmade knives are "made in 'merica"   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmade In 1996, Benchmade moved to Oregon City. Apart from some Red Class products, which are produced in their "off shore facilities",[14] Benchmade produces more than 90% of its knives in Oregon City, and has succeeded in bringing others back to home production.[15] Since 2010, all Red Class production knives have been discontinued, and as such, every Benchmade labeled knife is made in the United States.     and I also found this on a post from EDC forums from 2010:   From Team Benchmade:   http://edcforums.com/threads/benchmade-announcement-regarding-red-class-knives.69224/ As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary in Oregon, we’re more committed than ever to designing and manufacturing the world’s best sports cutlery and edged tools. We continually strive to provide high quality products that will deliver superior performance for our customers. It is with this commitment to quality in mind that we are proud to announce beginning in January 2010, all Benchmade branded products will be made in the USA at our factory in Oregon City, Oregon. These products will continue to be offered in our Blue, Black and Gold Classes. We will no longer offer products in our Red Class, although we expect inventory to exist in the marketplace for some time. Also, several of the more popular models from the Red Class will find their way, in one form or another, into our H&K and H-D knife lines. The USA Made models that were in Red Class will now be Blue class models (specifically, the Aphid® and the Rant®).   eta: just to verify the EDC source: http://www.benchmade.com/products/catalogs/2010consumer.pdf   Willis...was this just the "red class", which I was never aware of, that you were referring to?   And has Benchmade started offshoring again?
  16. Welcome. Glad to have you aboard. :pleased:
  17.     Not really buddy. My wife does it!   I don't touch the remote...too darn many buttons on it! :ugh:
  18. I just wanted to give a thumb's up to Benchmade's customer service. I've carried this knife daily for more than a decade. The pocket clip has loosened up from time to time, and I don't know about you guys but I generally don't have a # 6 trox driver on me...so I've tightened them with whatever I've had handy. Well they finally gave up the ghost and stripped out a good bit. I e-mailed Benchmade last week, explained what I had done and asked how to go about purchasing a set of clip replacement screws. I received an e-mail reply within a couple of hours and my free replacement screws arrived today. So while not nearly as nice as the beautiful custom knives I frequently see and admire here, I gotta say I'm pleased with my choice of a Benchmade Griptilian. Just thought I'd let you guys know. And give a shout out for Benchmade while I was at it. :pleased:
  19. I did write my Rep. and will continue to follow this.   I understand the frustration Dave and feel much the same way...but baby steps beat no steps... Hang in there.
  20. This is an incredible opportunity folks.   Dr. Aprill is a remarkable individual with an incredibly analytical mind. Drawing on his fascinating and "interesting" background William is able to share thoughtful insight into the minds of people the majority of the population hope to never encounter. His module on the "De-Selection" process alone is worth the price of admission.   The Weapon Retention and Disarmament module was incredible back when I experienced it in 2005 at the Rangemaster Tac Conference. I can only imagine how much more pertinent it would be today.     Thank you roar-K!
  21. Congratulations! Well written piece. Thank you! :usa:
  22. I must say that GTG is a great guy and someone I am pleased to call a friend.     I'm with you on the "Got to sell a pistol before I buy anything or I'll be a well armed homeless man"... I have to dodge that bullet myself.   While I've not built an AR, one of my shooting buds has built several. I'd happily "volunteer" him to help LOL. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to, and he's local to us as well. Just let me know.
  23. Thank you Randy. I am definitely looking forward to this one.   The Federal Air Marshal Qualification course is, shall we say, challenging...
  24. Welcome to TN and to TGO Gryphon. Glad to have ya. :hat:
