  1. While I laughed this is one true statement! I know it motivated the heck outta me.
  2. I joined in 2009 as well @Lumber_Jack. There's been a lot of change in this world since then my friend, And in "the blink of an eye". My appreciation to @TGO David and the mods for their amazing ability to "herd cats" and keep this place up and running. And to the members for the information exchange and conversation. Most of the conversation is civil. Thanks TGO!
  3. Thank you @Links2k. Now I'll a reliable recommendation source!
  4. LOL. It's been a bit hasn't it my friend? I do that too from time to time. Actually met quite a few folks from here. Good People all.
  5. I'm with you Sir. On many levels. And I too lost my Bride just a bit over 2 years ago. It's a profound experience that simple words can't express. She and I both came to the same conclusion several years ago. The commercialization of Christmas creates a frenzied madness in some people and avoidance and disengagement from them was our strategy and remains mine. There's simply no need to expose yourself to such shenanigans. WE always gave to those we love (money not obligatory junk) and those we could help with no expectations or desire for such. So I guess I too will proudly proclaim "I'm a Grooge!" But I'm still gonna watch Die Hard after the family goes home. And Thank the Good Lord for his many Blessings.
  6. I too watched "Nobody" with Bob Odenkirk . Wow! I had no idea he could portray such a BadA$$! Very well done and entertaining movie. Thank you @NoBanStan! I would love to see a thread such as this. But I wouldn't want to drift @Links2k thread without his blessing. But I really appreciate the input and suggestions.
  7. I watched War Horse One last night. A good degree of suspension of disbelief is required but I was definitely entertained. I would love to have one of those endless magazine vests too! But doubt I could lug it around LOL. I enjoyed it and appreciate the recommendation. Thank you.
  8. Thank you so much for the offer. I'll PM you. But I'm kinda in a hold mode for right now.
  9. This is my first attempt at a Christmas avatar. Hope it's not already in use... I prefer appendix carry...
  10. This is a sad truth unfortunately. My preference is to simply have a meal and conversation. Then family goes home. I say a Prayer and Thank the Good Lord for another day. Then I sit back and watch traditional Christmas movies like Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, and A Christmas Story. Already have my Christmas day planned out.
  11. Yeah I had issues after the last software change, or one of them. All of my photos, IF they loaded, loaded sideways. And I did delete a lot of cached forum photos I had. I just created an IMGUR account and used that to upload pics from my computer and post my pics using the "BB and Forums" copy and paste link they provide. I'm a technotard but was able to manage the IMGUR. It works well for me so far. I'm certain more technologically savvy individuals than I can offer other suggestions.
  12. I guess it depends on your planned use for this round. I agree, it's and interesting round conceptually. Shot to shot times coupled with user accuracy are essential for self defense rounds/guns. I think the Air Marshall service used it at one time. IMHO ALL handgun rounds are anemic as relates to self defense. So rapid repeatable accuracy rules. Again, just an observation and opinion. There's quality 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45acp factory rounds that are doing quite well for that purpose. And are less expensive and more readily available commercially. Heck...even quality .380 ammo is evolving. I handload (reload or whatever) and find bottle neck cartridges a PIA to reload (100% agree with @ken_mays). 97-98% of the ammo I shoot are handloads, so that consideration is important to me. It's a fine cartridge and there are some fine guns made for it. I have nothing against it in any way if that's a person's choice. I've not treated a patient shot with this particular round so I can't speak to that. Pretty much every other round, just not this. I guess it depends on you purpose and your "wants"/needs. I don't think it's a dead caliber but it might be nearing the "Critical List". But these things cycle back and forth over time. But then I'm an opinionated old curmudgeon and mostly shoot 9mm, .38 spl, and the .32 "family" rounds and carry the same. Always interested in others thoughts and experiences.
  13. Welcome aboard! I am in no way surprised you've had positive experiences here. I agree, a great group of folks... kinda quirky sometimes All kidding aside. Great group of folks and a good resource.
  14. Sadly, luckily, I don't know. But that's pretty much the going rate on a good deal these days. Thanks for linking it @Scotty
  15. Let me see if I can upload a pic. Please excuse the mess, I've been handloading a good bit lately. The Dillon was purchased around '89 or so. Been factory refurbished once. Love me some Dillon! But I'm really glad I started on a single stage to learn the process. The Lee has the quick change bushings which really aid in changing tasks and seem to hold their measurements true. Major improvement over my original 1980's version.
  16. These are excellent value knives. I have several but at this price ordered more as gifts. Thank you!
  17. I second the Reloading Manual. I read a Hornady manual back in the '80's and started my journey from there. And on a Lee single stage press. I finally wore out the original Lee and replaced with a more modern version 2 years ago. I have a Dillon 550 (since 1990) and it is solely dedicated to 9mm, historically the round I shoot the most. But I've been loading and shooting a good bit of .38 spl and .32 S&W Long/ .32 H&R mag the past couple of years. Around 3500-4000 rounds/year, all loaded on the Lee. You can certainly spend more, and I have no doubt there are better quality presses, but I find Lee to be a true value in presses. Just my $0.02 worth. But please read a manual first if you haven't already. And like Greg said, if you'll share , at least, your geographic region...you know, East-West-Middle TN, there's probably someone that would offer to help if needed.
  18. Welcome aboard. I'm in Knoxville but shoot at the Range USA here at least once a week. Great air filtration/exchange system and top quality staff. Well stocked as much as can be these days.
  19. You have a good point @BigK. I shoot a least once a week, generally twice and I don't know which will expire first... Me or my reloading supplies. It's not a terrible situation to be in. But I still look for a decent buy for my stores.
  20. Now if we can work in some spare time to your schedule we could put a dent in those stores @TripleGGG
  21. I'm not concerned either, but this chronic panic buying just wears on my nerves. Of course you're right Greg. A remarkable sales campaign fueled buy the shooting community. And as a shooting community, we can be our own worst enemies.
  22. A potentiality of how this gun may have fired, just speculation on my part...a WAG, If the patient had the handgun in her pocket along with any other items and not in a holster that covered the trigger it's possible that movement engaged the trigger. Like I said, it's a WAG. I had an MRI of my ankle just yesterday. I was able to remain fully dresses in my Carhartt Jeans, I discussed the fact that I am normally armed with the gentleman managing my MRI. I completely emptied on pockets, patted myself down twice, locked everything up and uneventfully proceeded. My circumstance is not unusual. I have sent countless patients to MRI during my years (decades) working ICU/ER. There is a 2 page questionnaire I would verbally go through with a patient and have them sign in my presence and I would sign stating I covered/addressed all of the questions (shrapnel and metal fragments are just a couple of the many questions asked.) This Q&A should be repeated my the person administering the MRI. And they too sign the questionnaire. Safety is a thing. A lot of people suffer with claustrophobia, many requiring premedication. That's a normal part of the planning and treatment. Just make sure you speak with your ordering medical professional about it. Metal hazard in the MRI room is a real thing. When I had to take an unstable patient to MRI I would #1. Talk to the tech. #2 Remove my keys, knives, stethoscope, and scissors and stats and place them in the booth with the Tech. Again, normal procedure. Many years ago, working the 7p-7a shift in New Orleans (St. Bernard Parish), we had an environmental services employee decide, on a whim, to mop the MRI room. No one was injured. The damage the metal pail and mop caused to the MRI was in the 10's of thousands of dollars and left us without MRI capabilities for several days. So, back to my WAG. It's possible movement and something tripping the trigger caused the firing, it's possible something else entirely caused it. It'd be helpful to know the type of firearm in our guessing game. So, in the future, hopefully folks with answer the questions fully and pay heed to the great big signs posted everywhere warning you when approaching an MRI.
  23. Welcome aboard. As A.J. mentioned, the location you plan to move to would be beneficial in answering some of the questions you've already asked in another thread. Tennessee is a "long" State and there are regional "pockets" of us on this forum. Many of the members are very knowledgeable and helpful. Again, Welcome aboard.
