  1. Good job miller_man. Those 1" and 2" circles are more challenging than most people think. TLG knew what he was doing when he set up Pistol-Training dot com. P-T target link: https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?2124-Printable-Targets
  2. Heck! A bud and I went this morning...but I didn't know photographic evidence was required! We shot the 5x5 Drill and the Dot Torture in the indoor range and after 0900 went and sighted in his suppressed 300 BLK red dot sight. Then we went and visited with Mike at Law Enforcement Sales for a bit...does that count? Disclaimer: Pics are from a previous trip.
  3. I have no experience with the Taurus pistol you reference, but I have carried daily for the better part of 30 years. I can, without reservation, say that a quality, purpose made belt is the foundation of a carry system...and it is, imho, a system. The belt should be specifically made for handgun carry with the rigidity and shape to support the weight of the handgun and accouterments (spare magazine(s)). The holster should mate the belt... i.e. the belt slots on the holster should match the belt width. Otherwise the holster will shift around through normal daily movement and you will fidget with it, reach down and touch the darn thing, and constantly be re-positioning it. Kinda defeats the purpose of concealed carry! The same condition holds true for your magazine pouches. I personally carry AIWB (appendix) with a Dale Frike Archangel on a Milt Sparks leather gunbelt and it's an excellent system for me. (I'm carrying a Glock 17 as I type this). I also have Kramer gunbelts and have used both Milt Sparks and Kramer leather IWB holster strong side in the past. There is a plethora of quality holsters and belts being made these days. But you may well find, like most that carry for any period of time, carry systems are a very individual thing. We are all unique as to our body shapes and dress style, and our needs. I think the majority of folks that choose to responsibly go armed have had to go through several iterations to find that "system" that works best for them...hence the reason why most of us have a "holster box". The "Best" holster for "you" is akin to the "best" shoes for you...gotta try them on and see. Good luck with your search and decision.
  4. I see you said her issue was weight and recoil...But can she manage the weight of the revolver trigger pull Bersa? Is so, what do you think of something along the lines of a S&W 4" model 10 in .38 spl? A Model 10 loaded with 148 gr wadcutter ammo would still be surprisingly effective, accurate, and have a very manageable recoil. imho the older Model 10's had some of the smoothest double action triggers I've ever run across.
  5. It doesn't take much to set off a "panic" buy...guess I better go get milk and bread although I have no idea why... Bread pudding?
  6. Working as well. Glad to have a job. Hope not to see any of you there! Be safe and enjoy.
  7. Prayers out for all in Tennessee and the good folks in Texas. I'm no stranger to the these concerns having been Blessed to move here after Katrina. I know you and many here on TGO were hit hard by the 2010 flooding. Extra Prayers sent my friend. Keep us posted please hipower.
  8. True that .30 cal! It's not a hobby, it's a "calling"!
  9. The video akdude posted is probably the best detailed explanation of the changes I've seen. Thanks for posting it. I was also surprised at the magazine changes...minimal, just follower and base plate, but something I never thought Glock would do.
  10. Well...only the smart one. We gotta get you handloading Brother! Those straight walled .38's and .357's beg to be handloaded! Save your brass!
  11. I recently ordered some projectiles, 9mm 147 plated and .357 158 gr plated, from Reloading Valley. These are pulldown bullets for around $30.00/500 with shipping included. I've never ordered from them before, but UPS tells me they will be here on Wednesday. They also have decent prices on a variety of pulldown brass. http://www.reloadingvalley.com/default.asp I also ordered a Lee 2 cavity mold of 158 gr .358-158-RF from Midway. I'm on a revolver handloading kick I guess.
  12. I would be very hesitant to use any product on a leather holster that isn't specifically recommended by the manufacturer of that holster. Many products that may well protect leather in general may have the unwanted effect of softening and therefore loosing the fit, and therefore retention, of your holster. I've had and/or have holsters from Kramer Leather and Milt Sparks and simply keep them clean. My experience in easing up that "stiffness" is many, many repetitions in dry fire. Many, many. Some holster makers recommend putting your handgun in a thin (think Ziplock) bag (empty of course) and slid the bagged gun into the holster and let it sit to somewhat loosen the fibers...I've never done so nor saw the need. Just an opinion... I know we have some folks on here that make some incredible leather holsters and hopefully they'll chime in with the SME advice they possess and that I lack.
  13. Prayers are there for you and Kasey Doug. She's Blessed to have you for a "Dad" Good Sir.
  14. I'm another strongly influenced by Ahern's writings Murgatroy...both in Combat Handguns magazine and of course the Survivalists series. Very innovative and original books. I still have my original series from the 80's sans one book...vol 5 iirc...but they are yellowed and would probably fall apart if I tried rereading them again LOL. I must confess Natalia Tiemerovna was a most intriguing character!
  15. They are all excellent and I appreciate you sharing them. Beautiful sight indeed.
  16. Awesome photos KahrMan!
  17. I waited until the darkness was maxed then shot it. I was surprised at what it saw.. I didn't look up, just tilted the phone that direction.
  18. LOL...nope. Still working fine. The shadow pics were after the eclipse by a minute or two. ETA....checked the phone and it still works
  19. and this is my phone's interpretation of what it saw...
  20. GT...I caught a couple of those shadow pics as well...pretty cool! The birds went a little nuts right before the 98.7% or whatever it was...
  21. The last "Firearm Related" items I purchased were a couple of books. "Handgunner's Guide: Including the art of the Quick Draw and Combat Shooting" by Chic Gaylord If you are unfamiliar with Chic Gaylord here's a pretty good article by John Taffin...if you're not familiar with John Taffin I'm not certain there's any hope for you... Because of the innovative and rare ability to generate an "original thought" process that Gaylord possessed we have the concealed carry options we do today. Bear in mind this book was originally published in 1960. Sure, the material is dated, but it's great to read and see the concepts that started moving us to where we are today. I got my used copy (excellent like-new) for $25.00 and I'm quite pleased with it. https://americanhandgunner.com/chic-gaylord/ https://www.amazon.com/Handgunners-Guide-Including-Combat-Shooting/dp/1581601085/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1503306610&sr=1-1&keywords=chic+gaylord Chic Gaylord: I also picked up and recently read Elmer Keith's 1961 edition of "Sixguns". Great historical read! https://www.amazon.com/Sixguns-1961-Elmer-Keith/dp/1477661697
  22. I'm glad you found it helpful . Sounds like you have a solid plan. Please give us an update when you've worked up some handloads. Those ACME bullets look pretty good and that a decent price on them as well. Cooler weather's just around the corner. Safe shooting!
  23. Very nice guns gentlemen! I'm currently reading Elmer Keith's "Sixguns" and it's really got me hankering for a Single Six...
  24. Welcome aboard. I'm a big fan of Unique and have used it for a bit over 30 years now. We, as a group, cast, Powder coat, and handload. Our bullets wind up at around 130 grs. I've found, as others have, that lead bullet load data is a good starting point. The powder coated bullets have much less drag/resistance compared to jacketed bullets. Big Question? Do you have a chronograph? I find a chrono an essential safety tool for handloading. One of my old time favorites for handloading jacketed 124 gr 9mm rounds is/was a compressed load of 5.7 grs of Unique. Those loads mimicked my then carry ammo of 124 gr Black Hills +P using Gold Dot bullets as far as perceived recoil and POA/POI. These chrono'ed at around 1150 fps. But that charge would be too much for a powder coated bullet imho. I can achieve the same velocity using 4.3 grs of Unique with a PC 130 gr 9mm bullet. A current very mild and inexpensive load we use for practice, and I've run it through a couple of classes, is 3.6 grs of Unique with our 130 gr PC bullet. This load chrono's at about 1020 fps. If competition is a concern, this load yields a 133 power factor. I personally like a bit more pep and will load 4.3 grs of Unique at times. FWIW we run these loads through at least 10 different Glocks (models 26 through 34) with no cycling or functioning issues. Just so you know the above are not recommendations and are just my observations and experience. Starting with lead bullet data from a reliable and trusted source, chrono the loads, and watch for signs of over pressure is a decent place to start. Be safe good Sir.
  25. Definitely congrats Willis, and welcome to the "Glock-side"! Trijicon HD are my favorite sights as well. Good choice imho.
