I not much on Facebook and such, but as I recall David's daughter was running a FB page for him. I googled it and it looks to have not been active since May 2018. Their "Magnum Materials" website is down it seems. I hope he/they are doing well.
  7. Well..that's certainly require some level of Divine Intervention...
  8. That's definitely amazing A.J. That guy should stop and Thank the Good Lord right now. Wow! That's got to be a pretty darn sturdy barrel/gun. Speaks well of Hi-Point's customer service as well. That guy couldn't have tried any harder to blow that gun up.
  9. That and "Another Country" are 2 of my favorite books, read and re-read over the years. Thank you! FWIW "Another Country" title is a play on the L.P.Hartley quote "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there."
  10. "One bleeding-heart type asked me in a recent interview if I did not agree that 'violence begets violence.' I told him that it is my earnest endeavor to see that it does. I would like very much to ensure — and in some cases I have — that any man who offers violence to his fellow citizen begets a whole lot more in return than he can enjoy." Col. Jeff Cooper
  11. A few quotes I've found helpful over time: " Most civilians don't get aggressive enough fast enough" Paul Gomez RIP my friend. "We can ignore reality, but we can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality" Ayn Rand... obviously not a gunfighter, but pertinent nonetheless. "You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it" Clint Smith
  12. As mentioned above, if Mike @LawEnforcementSalesTN can't handle it (I couldn't envision anything he couldn't handle). he'll point you in the right direction. Mike is a great guy and a very talented Gunsmith... a true Gunsmith, not a "parts changer". If it goes bang, he can fix it or build one for you, as long as you're legal to own it. Don't let the business name fool you. Mike's business services us earth walkers too. He stays busy, but either call or email and he will get back to you, it may take a short while, but he'll get caught up with you. Here's a link: http://www.lawenforcementsalestn.com/home.html Jamie
  13. If you handload, all it takes is a few minutes of focused inattention! In the mid to late 90's I double charged a 230 gr 45 acp (normal load was 5.7 grains of W231... I dosed it with 11.4 grains). I was shooting a Glock 21 when the kaboom occurred. The explosion blew the magazine out and apart, blew the plastic off of the trigger, bulged the barrel and the slide, and split the grip frame. But I still got my hit on the last target of the run! I only had a numb trigger finger for a few hours, no other injury Thankfully. I contacted Glock, told them what I did, that it was a handload (a warranty violation if there ever was one) and that in my opinion I would have been injured (possibly seriously) if I had been shooting my 1911. The Glock rep I spoke with told me they wanted the gun, sent me a shipping label, and replaced my Glock 21, the magazine, and returned my aftermarket sights to me! That's some darn good customer service. I have no pictures as this was back in the ancient times when cameras, film, and developing of photos was required. But it certainly made an impression on me. I still handload 99% on the handgun ammo I shoot... but you can't get more OCD about the protocols, and direct visualization of the powder charge in each and every round I now load. My "Fortress Of Solitude" (the basement) is off limits to interruptions when I'm handloading these days... and I much prefer bulkier powders as well!
  14. Congrats! As I posted, I received mine Tuesday, but just received an email yesterday saying they were mailing it. I think they may have been a bit overwhelmed with the response.
  15. Prayers continue for all of you Fourtyfive!
  16. Welcome to the forum !
  17. I received my "Rebate" cards in today's mail! Finally...
  18. This is a very valid point and one I too struggle reconciling. With Rights come Responsibilities. When I long ago made the decision to obtain my permit and carry a handgun daily I understood the need to learn to do so safely and competently. I received my first State wide permit when my then home of MS became a Shall Issue State. That was 1990. They didn't even require a class of any type. So I took it upon myself to start down that path. Many thousands of dollars and many hundreds of hours of training and practice, and many, many miles traveled, and I am still on that journey, and it's just that, a journey, not a destination. I pray I never stop learning and improving. That's because I take that responsibility seriously. I know many of you do as well. But we are not representative of the majority. That's unfortunate and we see it manifested in actions like this fool in the article. Sad indeed. chances R is right...you can't legislate stupid away...
  19. There are some seriously crazy people out there. While I can appreciate the anger the gentleman must have felt, confronting a crazy asshat known to have a gun just isn't the smartest move. That's a slippery slope towards "mutual combat". Just call the police and file the compliant. If you have to fight for your life that's one thing, if you can disengage just do it. My preference is being deselected as a target in the first place. Not saying the guy can't wear what he wants. I don't care if he puts daisies in his hair. I'd just rather stay a bit more gray... Avoidance-Deterrence- and De-escalation is still good advice. I hope this idiot gets solid jail time. The left will use his being an HCP holder against us, the law abiding gun carriers, and conveniently avoid the actual facts.
  20. Thanks for the explanation shaggy. I see better with medium to longer eye relief on my RDS sights. I'm still looking through them but feel less "crowded" at that distance They tend to be set about the same distance as my RMR at extension, as a point of reference, since "medium to longer" is kinda subjective LOL. What RDS are you running?
  21. I've worn bifocals for 25 years. I'm familiar with progressive lens, mine aren't, but I still don't know exactly what issues you are alluding to shaggy. What exactly is the problem you're experiencing?
  22. Thanks chances. I'm a SCCY fan as well. I picked one up a few years ago, ran about a thousand rounds through it without issue, and gifted my son with it. Damn fine little gun. Oh...Thanks for the info on the LCP.
  23. I don't think I fully comprehend the question @ShaggyRS6 Would you please elaborate a bit? I too keep both eyes open when shooting a Red Dot sighted gun...looking through it as @Capbyrdmentions.
